'Flower Technology products’ newly announced capability to mine Scrypt-N coins is revolutionary, though you may not have yet realized why. Scrypt-N coins, such as Vertcoin, were developed to counter the imminent influx of efficient ASICs miners to the Scrypt-based cryptocurrency market. Scrypt-N is a different algorithm than Scrypt, but our engineers have brilliantly tweaked our product to be able to mine either variety of coin. We are now able to offer our customers financial mitigation against the forthcoming flood of Scrypt-based coins to the market by offering the world’s first and only Scrypt-N ASIC miner, securing your Scrypt-N investment up to a difficulty of N=16384'
Time for Vert to change algo?
That's old news and its BS . They cant build anything It is a SCAM company selling Vaporware !!! Major manufacturers are not even delivering scrypt miners let alone New players delivering scrypt-N mining equipment LOL http://www.coindesk.com/46k-spent-mining-hardware-happened-next/

i just sold the last of my vrt a few days ago and bought more drk. also sold half my anc and all my xpm and put it all into drk. thinking about selling half my ltc now and going dark.
why do you feel vrt is "much superior" to drk? anyone please...
Darkcoin: 1) Single developer 2) Closed source (code review for DarkSend is not exist) 3) Many versions of wallet and algorithm of max amount coins 4) Enough effective mining by CPU (hello botnets) 5) Initial orientation for illegal activity, and therefore, no chance of official recognition. 6) Unknown position single developer towards ASICs Vertcoin: 1) Great team 2) Open source 3) Balanced policy of releases 4) Great community 5) Effective mining by GPU(goodbye botnets) 6) ASICs no pasaran ! Hardwork (new POW algorithm etc.) I love it

I know what this 2 coins(VTC nad DRK) will lead in uptrand on comming months both has its advantages. As I'm against Dark activity not doing any illegal things and I like in internet build reputation and be transparent so for that reason I'm avoiding DRK and buying VTC. Also with same market cap VTC supports match more gpus than DRK and As I have GPu rigs by buying vrt I'm also supporting gpu mining (GPU 's can be used in huge other things like Neural networks protein folding and so and its more social than asics.)

an ASIC that adapts and does a variety of stuff..right. Adapting it to Scrypt-N will make it inefficient for Scrypt. Read not optimal and in-turn not as cost efficient as it could be. Scam company Flowertech really has no clue what they are talking about. Here is one of their earlier Press Releases showing that they dont even know that Darkcoin is not Scrypt: Finally, we are thrilled to announce a huge milestone in both ASIC development and the Scrypt mining community. The Flower Technology ASIC is now capable of mining Scrypt-N in addition to Scrypt proof-of-work coins. This will future-proof your purchase for expanded mining options and increased versatility. Examples of Scrypt-based coins you can mine with our machines includes Litecoin, Dogecoin, Mastercoin, Darkcoin, Isracoin, Auroracoin, Feathercoin, while examples of Scrypt-N coins you can mine with our machines includes Vertcoin, execoin, GPUcoin, CaiShen and PANDA.

Big buyer has returned for more Rally on It's so nice that DRK is taking the attention away from VTC at the moment, we will enjoy low difficulty and cheap coins while their bubble lasts. Once DRK crashes and burns we'll be here waititng VTC in BEAST MODE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vvuLAl99ecAs much as i beleive in vtc. DRK is favored by miners due to low power consumption and low heat as well. Summer time wont help vtc fast enough either. Once DRK fpga miners are busted then we'll see vtc jumping again. DRK isn't favored by miners... it's unprofitable even if you factor in the lower power consumption.

It depends on how much one pays for electricity really. In Europe it can get pretty bad (>0.40$ / kwh).

My fav. by mining was X11 because my dayly loss by mining DRK was lower than VTC because of powerconsumption. Both i can buy 50% more than mine them so i shut down my miner for now. Both seems to be undervalued in compare of mining/buying in my area but it lookslike there are still enough places you can mine profitable and sell them immediatally. Don´t discuss even DRK or VTC, go for both

Does anyone have a pre-compiled version of the Scrypt-N miner for Linux X64? I just cannot get it compiled myself.

Guys, dont discard DRK just yet. They have a dedicated dev team that has delivered before. X11 is voulnrable to FPGAs though.

That's the problem, FPGAs are raping it and getting all the coins, that's why they are pumping DRK so hard. The fall is going to be very hard and painful.

Is there a TDLR summary on what's special about this coin? What sets it apart? Is there anything that makes it better than DRK and DRK's developer?

We're not competing with DRK. Do your own research and go with whatever is best for you, just don't come back crying later when you have maxed out your credit cards to buy DRK and the bubble bursts right after that
