Scrypt N no longer asic proof? Flower technology seems to have cracked it.

https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=7930.1500

its is the time for the dev to fork the coin and change the algo that is asic resistant.
No, it's not. ASICs will not be efficient mining Scrypt and Scrypt N.

It's bs

"We are using on chip memory.  N=16384 is the highest factor."

and

"As Scrypt-N is more memory intensive our hardware will mine at a proportionally lower hashrate as the N difficulty increases.  For example, we mine at 2.5MH/s per 10MH chip on Vertcoin."

so, not 5MH/s like GPU farm? Cheesy

If it's true (I really doubt), it seems:

N=4096 -> 625 kH/s
N=8192 -> 156 kH/s
N=16384 -> 39 kH/s

while the same 10MH/s scrypt GPU farm would have:

N=4096 -> 2.5 MH/s
N=8192 -> 1.25 kH/s
N=16384 -> 625 kH/s

more than one order of magnitude better Cheesy

if it is still not enough:
N=32768 - and Game Over Smiley

Already proven to be a scam. Go back somewhere between 30-100 pages and you'll find the old discussion.

Ok, if/when ASICs invade Scrypt to a significant degree (probably starting with Zeus, Fib and Alpha), GPU's will shift to Scrypt-N to regain hashing power.
So, how does VTC differentiate between ASIC workloads adding to the global hashrate vs displaced GPUs being added to the global hashrate?

Fairer distribution. Everyone has access to GPU's if they choose to buy them. ASIC manufacturers own / control the hashrate of ASICs.

Only centralizing force would be the cost of electricity.

I thought that small amount of insane people will continue to mine Litecoin with CPUs and GPUs regardless of profitability like they doing it so far. Some will mine X11, keccak and other lightweight algos successfully mineable by our chinese friends on FPGAs, because they have read somewhere that's X11 is ASIC resistant. Much more people will mine Scrypt-N coins like VTC. VTC will get more hashrate and difficulty will rise, because what other solid Scrypt-N coin exist? Panda? Vert is original coin with strong development team. I am happy that I am one of the top 300 holders and I'll push my address higher in this dick peasurement list soon  Tongue

LOL!
Here we go again...
How many times this coin dev's need to say ASIC's will not be mining VTC? Even the algo would be changed if needed. I smell conspiracy to spread FUD around VTC community.
All I can say is, it wont work!

Got my account back! It was hacked. Sorry about it :|

Not trying to spread fud, I didn't know they were 'scammers'.
Btw,Kalizar, please enlighten me why they are scammers.

But there is a core of truth, at some point asic will be made for VTC, it is just a matter of time.

They have said that, but you do not notice the most important..... you miss the details and catch such as small children of some words
they is nowhere specify the speed of their ASIC just words thrown in the space ....,
and I can do assemble ASIC for Scrypt-N with 20 kh/s  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

also is nowhere seen a detailed explanation of their ASIC /plan how they run it, video, etc./ just promises from their side .....

There currently are a war between ASIC manufacturers and now that's a good marketing trick
that they will make millions of dollars based on the uncomprehending people

remember that during the gold rush most money have earned the manufacturers and sellers of shovels

here comes the moment that anyone who wishes can be switched to Vertcoin, and while he doesn't play the latest video games on his computer he could earn a few dollars by mining VTC

I continue to mining and buy VTC when I have money, because the best is yet to come

I don't know how many times we have to publicly say "VTC will hardfork if necessary to keep ASICs out" - we must have said it a hundred times!

I'll say it again, in case repetition number 101 will help - VTC will hardfork if that every becomes necessary to keep ASICs out. This isn't LTC, we're not going to suddenly decide to give up and capitulate in the face of a need to hardfork, we will do whatever is necessary to keep VTC decentralised and in part that means excluding ASICs by whatever means necessary.

Wow boris, watching that video now, i'm finally really understanding the energy crisis and i see why all the newer cars are going electric. I'ts a MUST! And damn exponential growth is scary, we all complain about the wars that are seemingly made up by our governments but perhaps they are onto something with the whole population control idea. I think a better idea would be to simply alert the world about the problem and then have every country make a law similar to China where each family can only have 1 child per household for a few hundreds years until the growth goes down.

actually china is thinking of doing away with that law for a bit here read it here    http://www.charismanews.com/world/35327-report-china-considering-relaxing-one-child-policy

A pre-order model is not necessarily a scam. Just because they don't have to product ready doesn't mean they won't in a few months.

HashHarder Triple Merged Mining Needs Your Support!

We are of 3 (that we are aware of) non p2pools that support triple merged mining. We believe that we have the simplest setup out of these three.

No need to register.

No need to even write a Verify Message with your wallets.

Just Mine

Setup your miner to point to stratum+tcp://new.hashharder.com:9950 and your username just needs to be your three coin's addresses split by "." (dots) - NO SPACES. The addresses can be in any order.

Mine Vertcoin, Monocle and Parallax - its as simple as that. No need to your own node, and we are no-where near any level of centralisation. Infact, helping out pool grow to a more reasonable size will help decentralise the coin.

If all three pools end up equal in size, then each pool will only have no more than 33% of the hashrate of each coin, of course this is without the p2pool and other pools affecting this also.

http://new.hashharder.com/scrypt-n/vertcoin%20merged

Payout stats are shown at: http://new.hashharder.com/payouts

Any questions or issues.

We are here to help.
