I have lost a fair amount of iCoin and btc on the latest scam exchange coinmarket.io recently which has put me off virtual currencies for the last week.

It was a small portion of my holdings but I have lost trust in all exchanges after gox and now coinmarket.io .

I was writing about Coinmarket.io... At one moment it seemed like a good exchange. But after 3-4 shutdowns, i decided not to hold my iCoins there.

Poloniex is bad too... How you can call this 13% duty that happened few days ago???

Cryptorush shuts down too sometimes, so trading here is not safe too.

Now i trust only 4 alt-exchanges:
1. Cryptsy
2. CoinEX
3. MintPal
4. BTer

It's pity that iCoin is not presented on these exchanges... But I think in the near future it will take it's place.

Yes, frankly enough almost every single exchange has switched to voting as it's primary means of accepting on new currencies. It's a bit unfair because we all know that the vast majority of currencies either use bot votes or 'bought' votes (voting with btc donations) so they are no longer accepting the coins with the most potential or the most marketable, simply the ones with the biggest BTC holders or willing to pay for / orchestrate the most voting bots. Don't get me wrong, there's certainly coins that pay their dues when it comes to getting the community involved, but most don't.

In reference to exchange security, I'm right there with you minecrew, I'll never keep more than 5-10% of my BTC, LTC or ICN funds on an exchange at any given time. In fact, there is 0% of my funds on exchanges at this time. I keep my wallets on an encrypted stainless steel Ironkey flash drive (you can put it in the oven or sink it down to the Titanic and it still operates perfectly fine) and additionally I encrypt all my wallets, keep my flash drive in my safe, and upon making transactions I perform a wallet backup each time to 3 different locations with equal security provisions. Call me crazy, but MtGox gave me a scare as well.

With that being said, I see no large harm in making trades daily on exchanges. Everyone please just take precautions dealing with very new exchanges. We have full intent to list on all the exchanges you listed above with time minecrew.

In fact, we are currently on the voting for BTer, MintPal, and (soon to be) Cryptsy. It will be far easier to attack each of these one at a time as a community. This is absolutely open for discussion and I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts!

Which one should we go after first?

A. Cryptsy
B. MintPal
C. BTer

Cryptsy for me Smiley

Your are right about security. I didn't lost money because of these exchanges, I prefer holding iCoins in my wallet too.

About exchanges I can state that BTer will be most interesting at this moment.

Cryptsy and MintPal will not list iCoin if somebody will not pay for votes... For Example, 70000 votes on MintPal will cost 7 BTC... It's too much.

And in fact that they can ignore voting and add something with big trading volume... Instead of adding something that people voted for.

I saw this with MaxCoin, VertCoin, MintCoin, AuroraCoin. Nobody voted, but it appeared very fast after trading volume grew. They just don't want to lose money.

So I have some good news and bad news to report.

Lets start off with the good news:

Coinpayments has been bought over by another company and will most likley continue to run after the 31st March with iCoin as a payment option. Smiley

The bad news:

It is pretty much confirmed that coinmarket.io was a scam exchange and we know iCoin had most of initial buyers on that platform.

Going fwd, with exchanges if you unsure of who the owner is and you want to trade, withdraw your trades back to your personal wallets on completion, it's getting rough
out there atm.

Actually, one should always withdraw the majority of their funds from an exchange, regardless of the whether the owner of the exhange is known or not (reference to Mt Gox)
Those service are not intended to be used as an online wallet like some people seem to think.

At the end of the day, the biggest part of your funds should be saved in a secure offline wallet. That way, nobody will be able to touch it.

Let this be a lesson for all of us.

Good deal. I just read the info at Coinpayments so CryptoAlley stays up and running, with Mitm as an escrow service.

I have cheap buy order on poloniex, make most of it while it last.

Right now alt coins are battle , this not good time with GOX and even with this low price iCoin is still top 20 most profitable on coinwarz, this show how bad it is now for alts

iCoin is currently in the works of developing a simple 1-click setup wizard that most people are used to, as opposed to a .zip extraction file that's nearly unanimous among the cryptocurrency world. Just another thing that will make iCoin different and more apt to expand into the entire marketplace Smiley Updates to come, stay tuned! - Ridg

Also, I'll be busy wrapping up the materials for the Crypto Currency Convention over the next couple days!

- Prezi Presentation
- Slideshow Presentation
- Speech Script and Outline
- Handout Formatting

Everything is due (rough drafts) by the 19th. I have a good chunk of work ahead of me, so if I'm a bit more absent from the forum over the course of the next day or so, you know what I'll be doing Wink

Thanks everyone for your continued support, super excited for what's to come! - Ridg
