Hey folks, my fiance has finally said I can leave my computer on 24/7. The question I ask now is, how long do you guys leave your gpus on for? Mine has been on for 3 days straight now but im not sure if it needs a break, can anyone advise?
Many thanks

Turning off your machine for a little from time to time is always a good idea. Although, it's clear that gpu's that are mining 24/7 degrade faster. This all depends on what temperatures your gpu's are running at and such. Personally, I don't have a dedicated mining rig. So I just let my pc mine for a couple of days sometimes. But not 24/7.

I've had some 5850s running 24/7 at 100% load since early 2011. Temps in the mid to upper 80s. I've yet to have one die, but the fans need to be replaced every couple years.

I plan of shutting it down every now and again but that being said im not opposed to buying another now scan.co.uk accept bitcoin.

It just takes a screwdriver to change it out. I've still got one running as well.

I've been running my 6950 for about 2-3 months straight and have not had to much of an issue. If you make sure to set you fan speeds to run high to keep temps lower. You will also find if you take the side off of the case it will help keep the gpu cooler if you do not have ample case fans... although you will most likely get dust substantionally quicker. I usually shut mine down for 30 mins one every week or two to blow the dust out and it usually drops the temps by about 10DEG. But my place is abnormally dusty. Right now i am running 70 or so degrees, if i put the side of the case back on it jumps up a good 5-10 more lol....

I Will probably give it to my friend who has just started mining.

Got bored with my case so I attached my mobo to the front of a case and screw the lot to the sode of my desk, open computer which reduced temps a hell of a lot. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

You are much luckier than I am, i doubt i could convince my fiance to let me screw my mobo to my desk... lol. So the motherboard is attached to wood and/or plastic and not a metal case right? ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif)

Possibly drill holes to put the standoffs themselves in. Sorry if you did that and i am nagging you, i'm not sure of your technical expertise.

It really is great timing for us to have 3 exchanges ready for the branding launch. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Don't worry volumes will be increasing by this weekend, we haven't even started marketing yet.

Swisscex Some fantastic momentum has been taking place for iCoin lately! We're excited to announce our 3rd exchange listing on Swisscex.com - it's great to partner with an exchange that offers a clean user interface, diligent communication, and continuous member support.
Just to add swisscex has a LTC/ICN pairing which was really getting good volumes on freshmarket before getting hacked, however this exchange is ALOT more secure and from now on will only be accepting quality exchanges for iCoin.
We are in no rush to add more now that we have the 3 exchanges we do and will focus on other areas to continue growing iCoin and providing our current exchanges with volume.

Now we just need to get on a big Chinese exchange.
If iCoin could be added to Coinmarketcap, price will skyrocket and more miners will jump in.
