@Digibyte So what are you all focusing on for the changes?
We are going to make mining for everyone as fair as possible as well as making sure the block timing returns to normal. We are working on compiling the new wallets for testnet right now. There will be a lot of changes to the code base. We are trying to do in a week what we planned on would take us a couple months. But it is our #1 priority right now. Hmm, if I understood this correctly multi-algo is coming in about a weak and not in a couple of months?

They are trying to do so... it's now a race versus the clock.

I've heard people use race against time and race against the clock but never heard anybody say race versus the clock. P.s. Grammar nazis ftw.

Ofc I made several faults too, but when I see one I try to correct it. I'm a french speaking man, that's why I litterally translate this as "race vs the clock". But I think that "race against time" is the proper expression 1-1 => equality

I don't see anything happening on BlazingHashes Pool, no transactions, no blocks since 6/9. My question is this: Should I keep hashing or move off till the problem is corrected? I can stay there if you need it, its only 1.6 MH/s right now, the rest is elsewhere so it's not really hurting my bottom line.
Let me know whats up and and what you need to help fix the current situation.

I think the multi algo will do wonders for DGB. More mining, better pricing and security. We have a winner here. Let's stay focused on the prize.

On a side note, does merge mining cause a brand to lose its value? Forgive me, as I don't have any knowledge around this area. In other words, if DGB merge mines with DOGE, does it create more of an issue for DGB to become a standard in the crypto world since we are now under the DOGE umbrella? If so, I would not want to do that.

Nor would I. Merging dilutes a coin's identity and that translates into less brand awareness. In this world, being unique brings attention and in the crypto world, attention generally brings acceptance and value as long it is the right kind of attention. I doubt the algo changes will do much in the long run, I hope I'm wrong BTW! IMO, what REALLY is needed, algo or not, is community support and continued marketing by the Devs. Unexpected change raises warning flags and scares people off. Oh, and did I say marketing? Lets be clear, "if you build it they will come" DOES NOT work here. It's more along the lines of "if you build it and, work your asses off to promote it and, market it to every processing company and merchant you can think of, they will slowly trickle in" Patience + hard work + dedication = payoff. Period. I really like DigiByte, I think it can have a great future but, we must not loose sight of the road ahead. Personally, I plug Digibyte every chance I can everywhere possible. Honestly, I hold several coins that I believe have a future and I promote them all. So, I'll keep mining and buying and we will see what comes of it. The current problem will be quickly forgotten what everything works again as long as the price doesn't bottom out in the mean time. Hats off to the Devs and others burning the midnight oil to get this sorted out. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger and that fits crypto-coins perfectly... Bob

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.msg7237053#msg7237053It's all a matter of perception. A thing doesn't have to be real to be perceived as real by the public. Brand dilution is a very real problem in the real world, I would think this would carry to digital as well. Read the thread above (thanks for posting) and you may get a clearer picture of the pitfalls and, possible benefits. Bob

Bob, Couldn't agree with you more. I think the next 60 days are going to be extremely crucial. Once the algo change goes into effect, it settles the near term noise about mining, security, etc. We then need to get back to how to market DGB to the masses. As you, I believe in the dev team as well. Like to see the much deserved attention DGB should have. YC On a side note, does merge mining cause a brand to lose its value? I'm interested in mining DGB after the algo change I'm sure it was posted somewhere in the thread about how exactly multi-algo mining is going to work, but I haven't been keeping up like I used to. I'm guessing using scrypt asics to mine is out of the question? (Just ordered a gawminer fury)

As I understand it multi-algo means that there needs to be a certain portion of the network mining each algo though, is that right? hope not because that could create issues of its own.

I don't THINK that is required. Pretty sure you can mine with any of the supported Algos. I'm currently mining another coin using SHA256 and Script at the same time and it works using ASICs on both so, unless it up to the pool operator, I would think it's ok but, I'm not an expert on this, not many multi-Algo coins out there yet.

So DigiByte is going to merge mine under MyriadCoin, like it was proposed for Dogecoin to merge mine under Litecoin, or some other way?

Im not onboard with the 'merged mining' idea, at some point DGB should stand on its own 2 feet, as a product, service & investment. Just imagine the implications if it was merged with w/e coin and the other coins team gave up, quit, had major life changes or w/e. Multi-algo should be enough to allow any one to mine it if they choose.
Im not even sure the merged-mining idea is set in stone.. I would like to know as soon as possible, as it would absolutely affect my long term thoughts on DGB's direction. Is it a coin to support 'Miners' or is it a coin that wants to offer a service to Vendors, Merchants, & Corporations & allow any one to mine it with what ever they may have.
Tiime progresses forward, technology changes, ideas are created, the forward motion continues. If DGB just wants to pat the back's of some over invested GPU miners that dident think about their huge GPU investments, 10 months ago & over spent on dreams of FAST ROI & 'moon' 'lambo' childish noncense, I would like to know. Intermingling (Merged-mining) is in my opinion adding too much to the plate, as now, you would have to deal with other coin's , while the energy should be spent on making THIS product, THIS service, and this companies goal, progress.
