What are the chances BTC is replaced by something better soon?

Bitcoin being a mainstream currency can definitely be replaced by another altcoin. The effect won't be immediate but the probability is high.

One of the biggest dangers for BTC is something more useful coming along and investors switching - a process which could happen extremely fast, once started.

So to all the tech savy people in here - what advantages could other cryptocurrencies bring that will give them a crucial edge over BTC, and how fast could something like that come along?

I guess there will come a time that bitcoins will eventually be replaced by something better. My guess? 6 years from now. There will definitely something better in-store for us in the cryptocurrency investment scene and that will probably be the one to replace bitcoins.

Well...as at now, i don't think there's any chances or indication that bitcoin will be replaced by something better.


I think if with my little experience in crypto, if such is gonna happen then that means must have lots it goals and reputionn in the market and more more prediction and visionary would have see that coming

No chances. Bitcoin is the King of all altcoins. Even those, who trades with alts sooner or later are joining the BTC army, so its popularity is only growing. That’s why I don't think that it will be replaced someday.

I did not think that it would be possible that bitcoin would be replaced by something better. Bitcoin is already very strong at the top. So it will not be replaced by something else. If anyone replaces bitcoin then I think cryptocurrency will start from 0 again. Then surely there will be no substitute for bitcoin. That's my opinion.

The chance of that happening is pretty slim. Bitcoin is just that popular and still dominating, so my guess it would take a few more years. I could be wrong, but who knows?

It's a slightly different matter when millions of dollars of personal and professional investment from countless sources across the globe have been sunk in. That's an extremely powerful incentive for that money to stay put and push development and adoption.

Large amounts of money have already been put into Bitcoin and that's only going to become larger. That makes people more conservative.

Maybe it can be replaced with ETH or bitcoin cash. I know bitcoin is the number one currency and mother of all alt coins but we should not forget second and third coins which are Eth and bitcoin cash. Both currencies have the huge stamina and they're increasing more than bitcoin since BTC is losing its price I don't have any idea why it dumping but if you look at eth and bitcoin cash they're going up if the things happen of 1 year I can bitcoin not only replace but it can vanish.

Bitcoin cash is more inclined to go in that direction because until now the price is always okay and able to survive as well as bitcoin.

The real and most probable prediction is that there will be one world cashless currency controlled by the Secret Government (bitcoin). All the people will be forced to use this currency and carry microchip as an ID. Nonconforming people would be expelled from society and it will be forbidden for them to buy or sell.

I think btc will be replaced by ICO.

I don't think bitcoin will be replaced in the short term, and many coins do have a technical advantage, but bitcoin is still one of the most trusted projects in the encrypted world.

it is more a matter of which coin can work best alongside bitcoin.  Up until this point, it looks like it will be litecoin because of the faster transaction times, and the adoption slowly getting picked up by merchants.  

I don't think those "faster transaction" things will work anymore, Investors nowadays are looking for something different rather than ultra fast transactions, and one of their top picks is security. And when in terms of security nothing can beat Bitcoin's blockchain, this matter has been proven throughout the years, for more or less than 9 years Bitcoin is running smoothly and no one ever succeeds hacking its system(with the assumption that there are a lot of hackers tried to hack Bitcoin's blockchain but ended up as a failure) and this kind of feature what I call "The Ultimate Security" is attracting more investors on Bitcoin rather than investing on new Altcoins.  

The chances of altcoins replacing Bitcoin is freaking impossible at this moment and even in the future but who knows crypto currencies are very unpredictable.

I agree. I don’t think something greater than BTC will come sooner. Everything that we’re looking for in an alternative currency can be found in bitcoin. Now that most of online casinos and other business owners are starting to accept it, I don’t think they will accept new one soon, if ever there will be.

There is no perfect cryptocurrency, bitcoin is also not perfect. But bitcoin is still the best and has the highest price to date, and nothing seems to replace bitcoin.
