May be Evan should think about possibilities to make the asic-resistence even higer... or make pool mining impossible completely... i am no techy but now is the time to come up with ideas!... Thoughts?

The only reason why any GPU-mineable coin is ASIC-resistant, is because there is no ASIC created for it.

When a GPU miner emerges for an algorithm, you can be 100% certain that it can be ASIC-ed at some future point, if an ASIC manufacturer wants to do so. However even if a coin is cpu-only, a botnet can easily do a 51% compared to legitimate users. Or if it's a GPU coin, a pool might become too large and control 51% anyway.

i know that this is true for the asics... But there are ways afaik to make their live harder... the n-factor... may be one could implement a kind of a random n-factor... or think of other possibilities... IMO it is already plain to see beside the problem of privacy there are other big problems like the ones with 51% attacks, poolmining, asics, centralisation etc etc. to be solved too.. And you know as the coin on the market that calls himself a development platform... I just want to bring attention to this. It could be another good reason for drk getting the number 1. Why not think a little out of the box of privacy

I think that the dev has time before an ASIC surfaces for this algorithm. Looking at the features that he developed already, I'm sure that he can come up with something.

This is high quality Grade-A BTC fud. BTC is not going to die to a 51% attack, and in all honesty I highly doubt someone like Peter there would sell 50% of their BTC because of this....unless they simply wanted to buy back in lower.

Actually, there's some major panic buying going on right now over on BTC-e in the US Dollar market. The price got to 540 and than mass buy-ins and huge 5-minute green candle set in. Looks like a lot of people are just fine with the 51% "FUD" (which is what it is).

Ha yeah it was fun to watch.

GHash is already back down to low 40's after Bitfury pulled a PH from their pool. Even said they would be willing to pull more if it got further out of hand.

"It's Time For a Hard Bitcoin Fork"
http://hackingdistributed.com/p/2014/06/13/in-ghash-bitcoin-trusts/

... I can not see bitcoin to do a hardfork. i just dont belive that it will happen.
they rather watch and hope.
(and i  m not sure if the article exaggerates)

the good thing is that the masternode-system takes some of that vector away
(correct me if i m wrong)

Scary read. It was surprising to see Peter Todd selling 50% of his BTC http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/281ftd/why_i_just_sold_50_of_my_bitcoins_ghashio/

I'm thinking it's possibly complex because there are 2 drivers for the price now, not just 1:

 - capital investors (people who are simple invested in the classic sense looking to make a long term gain based on the value of the DRK)
 - revenue investors (masternoders who are looking to make a weekly revenue from their investment)

Evan's price stabilisation mechanism is about to kick into play.

Presumably, many buyers right now are planning on running masternodes based on the current payout of about 2to 4 DRk per day. But what they could find when that actually deploy their masternode is that a whole lot of others were thinking the same thing and the payout has gone right down due to an overcrowded master node population. At that point, 2 things can happen:

[1] - the price went up so much (due to all that DRK being taken out of the money supply) that they are still satisfied with the payout in BTC terms and continue holding and running their master node

[2] - they now think the payout is too little and cash out causing a price drop

But in the event of [2] - the payout for the remaining masternodes will increase, rewarding the ones who stayed by offsetting their loss in value with an increase in revenue and this will then in turn have a stabilising effect the market price.

Quite an ingenious system. It's going to be interesting to see how it works in practice but I'm thinking we may see a price increase, followed by a correction while the master node population stabilises and separates out the "men from the boys" in terms of who the core masternode population.

I would think everyone expects there to be at least 500 tickets, maybe even 1000, when the payments go live.

And if there is not going to be a max ticket limit for multi ticketed nodes, probably even 2000 tickets.

Does anyone have the vector images for the darkcoin logo, or at least a high quality raster copy of it? I'm designing a site at the moment, and the worst looking part is the darkcoin logo because the quality is so low :/

It also would be worthwhile and useful to put together a press release kit of sorts including a handful of high quality images as well as standardized copy for branding purposes.

Edit: Found it. If anyone sees this and cares, the link is https://darkcointalk.org/threads/branding-discussion.616/

It would be smart to pick up some Monero like I suggested yesterday and yes I own lots of DC too. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. You never know as we will continue to see with Monero, it is a solid coin and has to potential to compete with DC.

This has nothing to do with your previous message. And Yes.. I fully agree with you.

@coins101 - I am not sure what you mean with this SPAM.. Diversification is very important.. one has to be very stupid or seer to put everything on one coin. Or of course (as in my case) play with low enough volume so that it is not important (if you think I am trying to FUD Dark.. you are wrong.. I have no other e-coins but DRK).
