Most likely false positive, virus scanners tend to flag cryptocoin miners (yes, the wallet has a built-in miner) as viruses because some hackers like to plant miners on peoples computers so they can get free coins without investing in computing power as the infected computer will do the mining work.

Unlikely reason is, that the website has been hacked, and the download has been infected by the hacker.

Another unlikely reason is, that there is a man-in-the-middle between you and the website (are you using TOR or shady VPN provider?) that has infected your download.

What's your MD5 hash of the darkcoin-qt.exe?
Mine is f4c0cbb4e752d4289dfa770cc0247313

If yours is the same, you're ok.

No one know but in my opinion DRK is a really good option to longterm investment.
I think we will see great increase in 2015.

I simply can't get my head around why Evan worded the "Darksend - Security Bulletin " the way he did.
Why why why??

Because it's honest?

I'm talking about being conservative with the truth, as opposed to the complete opposite.
It could have been spun any number of ways. I would have gone for "exhaustive thoroughness in the interests of security".

I'd rather have honesty than sugar coated BS. If there's an issue, say what it is in plain English and what the plan is to fix it. Issues happen, how they are handled says a lot. We get spoon-fed enough sugar coated news from the government and mainstream media. It's refreshing to have someone be completely transparent.

Well, everybody was complaining about rising price Wink Now is the perfect time to buy relatively cheaper Darkcoins. Although, I think it will have to bottom out at around 0.005 before hitting back up again. Evan's fix of the security whole might take a couple of days.

Yes. If you need some motivation, you can gaze upon our developer's wizardry in real time right here and at darkcointalk.
Thanks, feels good to hold some DRK .

This is Evan's trademark brutal honesty and as an investor is very comforting. I think what happens is just group psychology, everybody understands that the issue presented is relatively minor and fixable but are trying to predict how others are going to react and may sell some coins in the hope of baiting panic sellers, and everybody is thinking the same thing. Although at this point Darkcoin has already developed a reputation for transparency which is very favourable and I wouldn't be surprise if the uptrend continues.

We have to be reasonable and understand that this is an open source project that is constantly being improved upon, that is why we wanted it open source to have more eyes on the code.

This may be counter intuitive to some because most of the time products are developed in a close environment and then release to the public. For example, when Samsung is developing the new Galaxy S6 there are many prototypes, versions and fixes before they launch it and even after, we just dont get to see behind their close doors. In our case we get to watch the whole development process live, is like we are sitting at the lab watching the engineers work.  This is great for Darkcoin investors, it does not get more honest than this, but we have to develop a sense of when an issue presented is part of the hardening and natural evolution of the project and when is something that limits the prospects of the coin or changes the fundamentals.

This change in the fee structure does not change the fundamentals at all, we are just looking to prevent spamming and sybil attacks without compromising anonymity. So we all agree there must be fees, we just need a way to charge the fees that doesn't give away too much info about the process and it seems like we already have several options and paying the fee to the miners seems to be the one we are leaning for, which I think is a very friendly alternative. So for newcomers take the opportunity and buy in the dips this project will just continue moving forward and hats off to Evan for always prioritising what is best for Darkcoin above short term price movements, that is a warranty for the future.

Yes, absolutely, agreed.
But unfortunately, we are forced to operate in an utterly vile, filthy, seething mass of filth that will use anything to smear the good honest work of anyone in order to serve an agenda.

I'm not arguing with your idealism, I'm just suggesting it might be wiser to be a little more savvy.

Let me give you an idea, we have been trough this a few times.  A weakness was found, normally Evan codes a solution fairly quickly lets say a week, in this case it requires a hard fork, we normally use multi-phased forks in which everybody has time to update and the the fork is activated when the network reaches a certain level of compliance, this can take around two weeks. So I am thinking around three weeks give or take.  This is just my guesstimate based in previous experience.

Now this is just a weakness being fixed we have done a lot of this in the past so please understand this is a natural occurrence. No one likes discovering weaknesses and fixing them but is just part of developing new technology. Not a big deal IMHO.

The current way that fees are charged might compromise untracability, so a fix is being worked on.
