Can someone enlighten me? I'm sending a few DRK from the qt wallet and while the wallet says it is online and sync'd and I didn't select InstantX when sending I get "Status: 0/offline (InstantX verification failed), has not been successfully broadcast yet". It's been some 15 minutes now and it might very well be something that resolves itself, but care to shed some light on what is happening? <shameless plug> I'm sending a few seed bets for TAABL, the original Bitcoin lottery which from today supports DRK too! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=974159.0</shameless plug> EDIT: I'm still curious as to why it took so long, but it propagated and is already in a block now... v0.11.1.25 Qt-wallet has a small bug on sending non-IX txes to 2+ recipients, I guess that's what you just hit. It's already fixed in source and will be included in v0.11.2.x release. Until then please avoid sending non-IX txes to multiple recipients via Qt-wallet. Thanks.

Hello Guys, We have been needing a professional animated explanatory video about Darkcoin for a while. So I went ahead and made the commitment for a 90 seconds animated video with a company called www.myevideo.com. I have used their services in the past and they are great. I was able to get 600 USD discount on the regular package as a returning customer, so we are getting 3100.00 USD value for 2500.00 USD, as you can see on the attached pricing table. I tweeted about this, and linked to your Darkcointalk thread, if anyone wants to retweet to get interest, it's here: https://twitter.com/MakingMoneybtc/status/572520354293284864

Absolutely great initiative. I will contribute my thoughts (and some DRK as well). I was really hoping you would fill the questionnaire, as I was thinking about the fungibility angle more than anonymity, much more powerful I think.

I'm not only Impressed with the Dev's and the Coin; My feeling is DRK used to drop against the Price of BTC. Being A long term Holder I'm Happy. Correct me if I'm Wrong.

Cool. It would be great to get also "karaoke" version so we could impose soundtrack with different languages for final video. I am ready to take care about Russian translation and sounding like I've done earlier for this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1Pk-oKSGwg

It is not easy for me to fully discuss things in English, but: 1. I vote for "Bitcoin-Comparison style" 2. Tomorrow I am going to publish my second article - and it may also contain some useful ideas for the video.

Can everyone here go and bash the 100% clone of dark named ecash (cash)?
I know the devs should be flattered, but the copy seems pathetic. With such a bad showing, I'm thinking it is a detriment to the drk community.

I appreciate the above graphic and it strikes at the heart of one of Bitcoin's weaknesses. Coinbase's address tracking policy really does affect the user experience, much like copy protection does for file sharing. (It's a pain in the ass but workarounds are available). I'm sure the savvy BTC user will always find a way around Coinbase's antics. I do think the last comparison, 'unconsumability' is false and detracts from your message. Bitcoins were in fact consumed in the 'proof of burn' phase for Counterparty. 2130 BTC were irretrievably deposited here: https://blockchain.info/address/1CounterpartyXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXUWLpVrThe same 'consumability' issue exists for Darkcoin of course.

I just want to clarify - I'm a great bitcoin fan. I've always said that I support the view that Darkcoin can't succeed without Bitcoin and I've referred to Bitcoin as "the mothership". Having said that, the fact that the coins in any address can be contextualised by their transaction history does impact on their fungibility. (i.e. it makes coins less equivalent to one another). I wouldn't say that Bitcoin categorically isn't fungible (although I did in that graphic for emphasis because relative to Darkcoin it isn't) - it is at a technical level - but the fact that it's traceable by default makes it not fully fungible. (A real metal coin doesn't carry it's transaction history along with it as was tweeted in one of the responses). I'm not the only person who perceives a "fungibility issue" with bitcoin: Check this interview from 1 year ago with Adam Back and Andreas: https://letstalkbitcoin.com/e77-the-adam-back-interview/Go to 1:14 and listen to them talking about anonymity in general and how it impacts on Bitcoin's "fungibility". They discuss solutions such as conijoin in Bitcoin and Dark Wallet. These are "steps forward" but piecemeal solutions. They're not generalised approaches to directly improving fungibility in the coin supply generally. Darkcoin, on the other hand, can "melt down" the coins while stored in the wallet which is a far more practical solution for supporting fungibility at an institutional level (such as businesses wanting to keep their corporate cashflow private and un-mineable by commercial competitors). https://letstalkbitcoin.com/e77-the-adam-back-interview/********** Adam Back: Traceability to do with change addresses…enhance fungability This is not necessarily about achieving anonymity it’s about retaining the value. Bitcoin’s value to a large part depends on the fungibility of the coin other wise the transaction costs rise to approach those of credit cards… …I think it’s in the interests of every significant holder of bitcoin to draw a line in the sand and don’t encourage or condone or make use of any systems which try to encourage redlisting and therefore damage fungibility so I view coinjoin as a good practical step that can be immediatelly taken… ********** Also see this discussion from recently:

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

The same 'consumability' issue exists for Darkcoin of course.
I think, in the context of monetary properties, the term "unconsumability" refers to the coin's lack of domestic or industrial utility and consequent tendency to go out of circulation. For example, using pencil sharpeners as monetary tokens would cary a certain percentage overhead due to a continuous loss to utility (to most people, pencil sharpners are of no use other as a monetary token, but 1 in 10 might value its utility more highly and therefore take it out of circulation, or "consuming" it).
