DRK and XC Communities,
The toxic back and forth between our two communities has reached a level with which neither of us are comfortable or impressed. The competitive space for our coins lies in the results, and the results will speak for themselves as they are brought online. Whatever mistakes or provocations were undertaken by either side are in the past, and we would like them to remain there. We are all interested in one thing: the advancement of anonymous cryptocurrency. Let go of the tribalism and start thinking of how you can positively contribute to that end.
Evan and Dan
I would like to remind you of this I was going to post in the XC thread that the term web 3.0 was mentioned here a few weeks ago, but I didn't want to waste my time on a self-moderated thread. It's more than a little suspect that something gets posted here and a few weeks later something sounding remarkably similar finds its way into the press. So, yeah - remind away. BTW. Didn't take you long No worries... I was just going trough my watchlist and saw the somewhat disturbing hostile replies of your post so I just looked up what Evan and Dan posted end of june and reposted it. about the web 3.0... I've looked up that it is revealed practically on the same day... I must agree on august 19 darkweb was announced as being web 3.0. But at the same time, on XC -thread, there was a partnership announced with qibuck and the details of that partnership would be announced on friday. So that friday, august 22, xc announced its web 3.0 (and what the partnership would mean) here is the link with the announcement. a Search the XC forum... WEB 3.0 was announced and has been part of the road map since June... So who's copying who?

A mobile device a totally different beast to a PC. I have run exclusively linux-based OSs for almost a decade now and can be fairly confident that any system I install is clean upon installation. To do the same on a mobile device I don't think there is any way other than by voiding your warranty. Iphone - no. Windows Phone - no. Android - no. Although Android is open source all manufacturers and some operators install their own skins on devices, and come with GApps installed, which are not open source. Of course being open source does not guarantee it is 100% secure, nor is closed source a sure sign of malintent, but I just want to illustrate that we are not dealing with PCs here, where more control is possible. An unofficial app can shun all responsibility but an official app probably doesn't have that luxury.
As I said, it's about finding a compromise that you individually are happy with - degree of insecurity vs hassle. You can stuff linux onto an android phone if you really want to, but you're still using closed source hardware to run the whole shebang on... There isn't a one-stop shop or one-click solution to keeping you safe from MI6/Mossad/NSA, whoever. But you can certainly escape your greedy ex... I agree with what you're saying to a certain extent but I think for the average smartphone user the risk would not just be from MI6/Mossad/NSA etc, installing almost any app could potentially put them at risk. I don't play too many games myself these days, but I can imagine plenty of 20-35 year olds do. How many are open source? I'm not talking about tic-tac-toe or sudoku. I've seen it mentioned before that it's probably a good idea to treat a mobile wallet like you would your normal wallet, taking only the cash you expect to spend plus a little more. I think a dual-boot system with digital cash on the everyday ROM, a "current account" on the clean ROM and savings in cold storage doesn't seem like too bad a plan. I'm still looking forward to the day I can pay for a small island using just my phone though, instead of having to lug around the laptop to seal the deal. Of course the DRK price will probably have to go up a fair bit before that could happen anyway.

Well Mr. XC, formally X11. Stopping by to catch up on a little R&D? We've moved on. If you would like to discuss this further, we can talk here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631052.msg7024411#msg7024411

Having had to contract with fiat gateways in the past, this is rather an interesting question. Why is it needed for RC5, or next stage of development - now that is the question you should be asking yourself.

For those of you wondering, the new GUI wallet project continues, yes unfortunately DRKLord have had some health issues recently and that is of course a priority over volunteering on the project. Having said that, we have a good foundation for the new wallet already. At this point the current wallet is still evolving from a functionality perspective so it is better to have something final before improving usability and design, so the new wallet will have to come after RC5 and open source. This should give DRKLord sometime to recover, or Evan will assign additional resources to the project. Darkcoin is the best crypto coin project in the market and deserves the best wallet. Just dont expect a new wallet with RC5 the priority is getting the technology open sourced and working properly on mainnet the new wallet will come after that.
Thanks, he seems like a nice dude, handles everyone's 2 cents and art-connoisseur critiques like a champ. Hope we see him well soon.

Hey guys, Some of you oldies may remember I wrote on article on Darkcoin back in May: http://www.deepdotweb.com/2014/05/20/the-rise-of-darkcoin/I'm hoping to do a follow-up which is more in-depth and perhaps will spread over a few articles. I'm hoping to cover masternodes in action, darknetmarket integration possibilities, price issues and much more. However since this will involve a lot of research I am asking whether anyone might consider donating some DRK to help ease the burden. I intend to donate roughly an hour a night (after my own research) to this series. Anyway hopefully this is acceptable to post: XeeG5tkmzoit4ztUyXYCxF4aZ8Nm82Cvcx

Sorry can you explain what you mean here a bit more (am curious). 1st guess would be something to do with The Foundation, which at least initially would probably need to run on some fiat as well as DRK.

Actually, I was wondering about using BTC via your mobile device and or computer in a [coffee] shop vs. DRK
It strikes me that DRK is 100,000x better for mobile devices than BTC
You're right - it doesn't matter what connection you use, BTC is traceable, DRK via DS+ isn't. You can still be pinpointed in spacetime, but nobody can prove what you were up to transactionally. Assuming you cover your phone screen and nobody nearby is Van Eck phreaking you with a portable SQUID. Ideally, you'd just send a coded txt message to a hot brunette in Panama who's forever indebted to you because you once saved her entire village from a plague of zombie alien tentacle-horrors, and she'd do the Darksend for you with dumped privkeys written in rapidly fading ink sent via burner carrier-buzzards. Or something. Don't forget to wear a pretty gingham frock and a good wig. Or just wait a few weeks for DarkTransit. You're hilarious lonecrouton!

Pisses me off that BTCD, a self-proclaimed DRK clone (using SHA-256) has higher price Again with this shit? They have different outstanding coin supplies... if that's the case, 42 coin had a price 100's of times higher than BTC... Stupid to even compare the two unless you adjust the coin supplies to a common factor.

Pisses me off that BTCD, a self-proclaimed DRK clone (using SHA-256) has higher price Dude you have to take into consideration the coin supply if you are going to make a comparison. Why does this concept eludes people so much? That's why in the end what matters is the market cap, because what you hold is a percentage of the total coin supply.

Bitcoindark is just having a nice pump. It'll be like DRK months ago and then revert to normal prices.

Huh? I'm not a pumper. I've been on here with DRK since it started. I've always held and quite happily so.

Not yet, the Teleport feature is still in the works, should be released this month.

Is there any service or exchange that would let you type in a private key to a Darkcoin address to get access to those DRK, or any other way to do it if you only had access to a browser and didn't have access to a wallet program? I know there are ways to do this with BTC.
