This is stupendous news.  I'm still focussing on RC5 though.

I wonder what the network hashrate will look like in 24 hours?  My bet some more people will be mining DRK Smiley

Ahh!! Evan you spoiled my pattern analysis with your instant transactions news!  Grin

Now this looks good. Downward channel broken finally!

Hahaaaa
see, you and your charts man
honestly in this crypto world they do not work
you never know what might hit you tomorrow !
 Cool

I would like to disagree...  if it were apple or IBM breaking the downtrend, you wouldn't say it was because of a unanticipated news release.

I dont think it matters why the trend was broken, the fact that it has prevails.

This solution Evan has devised could be a game changer. The biggest thing holding back crypto from mainstream use as a currency is the relatively high transaction time vs traditional payment methods such as card transactions and paypal etc. If transaction time can be reduced to under 30 seconds then it becomes a viable option for payment of day-to-day transactions such as groceries, restaurants, fuel, impulse purchases.

Very exciting!

To be real, bitcoin is already instant.. it is just confirmations that you have to wait for..

NO-ONE is going to try and double spend on the bitcoin blockchain for a pack of smokes..  only large transactions do you have to wait for confirmation..

I have sold bitcoins locally thousands INSTANTLY on the blockchain using the iphone app...

I think most merchants would be reluctant to hand over any goods/services until the payment is confirmed, no matter how small the risk of double spend etc is. It's a psychological thing if nothing else.

Depends how complex it is. If it (and it probably is) works off the masternode network this is huge news. Instant transactions and because of that extremely quick denomination?  That's huge! And not priced in.

That is one thing.
The other one is - market has a tendency to react positively on news about the technology rather than implementation of the technology.
Last time when masternodes were announced price could not stop increasing for days

Two words... Blockchain bloat. Reduced transaction times is easy, doing it without creating blockchain bloat is the hard bit. Sounds like Evan has figured out a solution though...  Wink

I'm not sure why some folks are so eager to call for dark to replace btc.  btc can stay on top, it can be cryptos everyday public face.  Hell, it even stars as the currency in a popular (according to imdb anyway) tv show.  However ltc... ltc is the target.

mh, thats not the case if the risk is not on them.

in paypal, they hand over the goods, regardless that there is a chance that paypal will never see the money,
because thats paypals problem.
and paypals doesnt care because the risk combined is so low, and already priced in.

so if a plattform uses drk´s and takes a (little) fee to organise the transactions, taxes, servers, and combines the risk,
.... here you go.

but, i agree: if duff found a way, this will be huge, because you dont need a platform to even out the risk.
wordpress-merchant-drk-plugin, i see you coming.

I agree with what you say, the beauty of paypal is that a trusted 3rd party handles the risks associated with the transaction. However, we don't want 3rd party involvement.

With DRK our aim is to have a completely trustless, anonymous solution. Trustless anon is only viable if we remove the 3rd party AND get transaction confirmation times down to seconds rather than minutes. That way no risk needs to be taken by any party... like with cash.

Firing on all cylinders.

Fundamentals definitely looking great right now and there is a lot of juicy material for some positive media coverage.

Technically, the 1d chart is supportive. The 7d MA crossed above the 30d MA a few days ago and MACD is green. 4h chart ditto. I think if we can punch through the .007 level and then previous reaction high of .086, there will be some nice blue sky trading above that. 018 looks to be the next bigger level of resistance. I think we can hit that level - in September - if we see big volume coming in to darkcoin the next few days. And based on the crapload of #darkcoin tweets happening in the last few hours (seen that with big moves up on other coins) looks like that just might be in the cards.

if instant transactions white paper looks realistic I think the move will be sustainable and darkcoin will assume its rightful place in the top 5 cryptocurrencies by market cap.
