how far are we with the pools ? is anyone monitoring which big pools still need to update ?
Are we going to sent reminders perhaps tomorrow to get them on the correct version in time ?

edit : and is there a necessity for exchanges to update as well ?

The momentun DRK is gaining has been noticed elsewhere too:

http://www.wired.com/2014/11/darkcoin-and-online-drug-dealers/
Quote
Over the last month, two of the dark web markets selling an anonymous, mail-order catalog of narcotics and other contraband have begun supporting darkcoin transactions. On a site called Nucleus, visitors can now use darkcoin to buy LSD, MDMA, and marijuana. On the competing market Diabolus, dealers accept it for cocaine, synthetic stimulants like ethylone and alpha-PVP, and even counterfeit Euros. Those two markets still represent only a tiny fraction of the growing dark web drug economy—most of which uses bitcoin exclusively.
We cannot wait too long before going full steam on marketing.
indeed. I'm waiting for webwallet/GUI to start actively advertising on the darknet though... it just doesn't make sense to do it now.

Agree, let's wait for a stable webwallet/GUI.
Be patient everyone, I feel that it's gonna get really big.
Darkcoin bring nothing new to anonymity, it is just Bitcoin with a paying coin-mixer and constant press spamming.
Do not fall for it.

The danger is not that the average Joe on the bitcointalk forum falls for it, but that the black market websites operators do.
It's not always the superior technology that succeeds. Network effect is a bitch when it's against you.

Monero is probably planning on "educating" black market website operators. We need to do the same.

DRK community can only survive by spreading lies and myths to keep pumping the price.
Is is a short term strategy that will necessarily lead to either a crash or a very bad reputation.

Adding DRK to the darkmarket is totally irresponsible when you know the tech behind.
All masternodes are centralized on few VPS providers probably owned by few people.
All masternodes IP are public. All DRK addresses are visible with the amount of coins on it and the exact time of deposit.
You can mix transactions as much as you want, it doesn't make a cryptocurrency anonymous.

But they are mixing transactions as well. They just have the proof of it encrypted in the blockchain just waiting to be cracked (math breakthrough, quantum computer) whereas Darksend does not.

Cryptonote coins always make the case about how their ring signatures are better than DRK's darksend. I implore any and all cryptonoters to actually trace a DRK transaction from ending address to where it initiated from, especially at 8 rounds. Certainly there should be some sort of bounty to incentivize people to try (and fail). If DRK is so flawed, this should be an easy task. Go on, try it.

Well it's obvious it can't be traced, that's the point of mixing, no one is going to deny that. But the FUD will be directed elsewhere, like a powerful TLA hacking every masternode and trying to find out how the mixing was done.

A Doge app raised 500.000$$$$$ VC. Big win for Altcoin scene. Shutting up all the haters, claiming only BTC (and LTC) will ever be able to raise money. All these idiots posting stuff saying that coins like Dark or Doge will never have a real chance for mainstream adoption on- and offline, because it would never get accepted/proccessed by payment companies or get investors onboard for ecosystem development, etc.

Well, we have spoken about putting up a bounty for that challenge before. Maybe we are nearing the time for it. I can imagine nothing but a torrent of dirty tricks over the next few months, so formulating a strategy, based on facts and Kristov's work etc shouldn't be too difficult.

Fair enough. I do see the argument though that ring sigs are better. Point being, if both offer privacy and deniability, one would think the logical choice would be the one that is less inflationary (DRK), built off a Bitcoin's API that already has plenty of venture capital and infrastructure behind it (DRK), a more established code base (DRK), among other pros. Monero still needs to fix bloating for scalability, needs a practical, official GUI, and most importantly, needs years on the code to iron out whether or not it can stand the test of time with the very math behind their privacy remaining uncracked.

Sure, anything is possible, but by the time all these things hit their pipeline, DRK will already be far more established, not to mentioned refined.

So if I hold my drk til I die, does that mean I have to read shojays comments for the rest of my life? Think I might just KMS.

You just can't stand to hear anything that goes against your narrow view of the world and how things work can you?  Please either put me on ignore or KYS.  Problem solved.

Shojayxt since the lobotomy you're substantially improved (actually more of a road-to-Damascus-conversion really) but people here have long memories and recall just what a complete tool you were back in your trolling days. I'm not saying that some of what you wrote in the past wasn't relevant or didn't have some truth (and the need to get everyone to undergo reality checks within fan-boy movements is important), but your MO was to put shit on just about everyone here in the DRK thread and boast about how much more successful you were jumping in and out of DRK continually while the "losers" just retained their DRK holdings in MNs. Many of us that have invested in MNs and refrained from being part of the mad trading scene have helped to maintain stability throughout this crypto winter, not that trading isn't essential to how assets like this work, but your continuous criticism and expression of disdain for the people here who've believed in DRK and stayed the course was pretty offensive and frankly you owe an apology.

I don't owe anyone an apology.

Lets try and keep this thread about Darkcoin and related issues.  Rehashing the past is a waste of time.

Thanks

Oh really!

Ha ha, I'd rather be a dick head than a dick sucker like you.

I was here early.  I sold some coins early but bought back in low and sold at the top.  I just dumped the last of my DRK the other day because I can't stand the stench of this coin.  I will admit that I am mining on one of the pools that isn't taxing me 20%.  I'll sell whatever I mine and feel good about not paying the 20% tax.

But feel free to believe whatever fairy tale you want.  You believe in the Darkcoin fairy tale about overtaking bitcoin, going to $300 a coin etc... so why wouldn't you believe the fairy tale that you posted about me.

You have the early supporter part right.  But after observing what has been going on I can't support this instamined scam any longer.

Yes I used the words INSTAMINED and SCAM.

Rehashing the past is indeed often a waste of time, but you have demonstrated beyond measure that you are untrustworthy and you could turn again at any moment. Goodness knows what damage you did to DRK's name back then in other threads and on other sites.

"Forgive, but not forget" is an all important measure and most of the longer term members of this forum will be mindful of this when interacting with you.
