I don't know man, I can't shake the feeling we missed a Golden Opportunity today to stay one step ahead...

Yes indeed.

What worries me is that when XC, CLOAK, VERI and all that stuff came along, Evan didn't bat an eyelid.

Yet when SDC appears he suddenly wants to "merge" with them ?

Why would he even suggest just a drastic move only in this particular case ?

He must think they're onto something.

If ever there was an invitation to hedge your DRK investment you can't really beat an endorsement from its own developer. I've already acted accordingly.

It was more that he was impressed with their skills, not that they're "on to something" per se.  At least not in the way I think you mean it.  He was trying to find a way to consolidate talent to better compete & establish DRK's dominance in the market space.  It was a good idea in principle.  Those chat logs though, sheesh.

They know cryptography very well, which would have been the benefit to having them on the team. I think as DRK grows in popularity, we should start to have the ability to attract this type of talent on our own, using the resources from large holders to fund bounties, etc. And maybe someone more honest than those guys. The chat logs make it clear they are dirt bags.
How did someone get those chat logs? Did Chris Hanson hand them over while the idiots ate cookies. I wonder if they brought condoms and wine coolers.

Just downloaded v0.10.15.21

On my overview screen my coin amount is correct, however when I go to the send screen it shows zero balance and I can't send anything out.
in the bottom chose send using nonanonymous funds normal transation. You have not denominated any coins yet so the balance for anonymous coins is 0 Smiley
Hope it helps.

There's also a warning highlighted in yellow  "Displayed transactions may not be correct ..."

Ok, so as i'm trying my first actual attempt at mixing... 30 minutes in, I would say either there's a problem or the interface leaves a LOT to be desired for...

0% done.. the message just keeps switching between Submitted to masternode, waiting in queue to Darksend is idle... I have no idea (i haven't really been paying attention the last couple months) if this is normal or not or if this isn't working... from a novice standpoint, it feels like it's not working?

I had a similar experience as well. I set the mixing at 20 DRK/8 rounds and let it roll all night. The next day I had 1 self-payment and ten 0.00125 fees. The status bar was at 100% but my anonymous funds still read 0. My total balance was greater than 20 DRK so shouldn't the mixing have stopped after reaching 20 DRK. And I was under the impression that the 0.00125 DRK fee was per round of mixing. If so, why did I have 10 such fees? I guess my understanding of how it is suppose to work, or how it's suppose to look like when it's working, is lacking a bit. Anyone care to enlighten a fellow long time supporter?

DRK Team Tips - Crowd Funding

Over the last few months I've realised how much hard work goes into development and testing by the Dark team and prominent members of the community.  In many cases, lots of personal time and financial resources are contributed to testing and infrastructure of this project.

I'm running a crowd funding exercise for 1 week, as follows:

8th November 2014 - 15th November 2014

DRK Donation Address: Xcd1fuEWooU8QAHDQnpnapqkF9ri8KopNj

At the end of the week, I will be sending the funds to Fernando (Darkcoin Foundation Member) to distribute amongst the team and the community.

So if you would like to show your appreciation for the fantastic work that's being done within the Darkcoin project, please send our unsung heroes a beer or two, I'll get the ball rolling with 25 DRK.

Thanks in advance and feel free to bump this often  Smiley

Darkcoin Development Appreciation - Crowd Funding Exercise

Over the last few months I've realised how much hard work goes into development and testing by the Dark team and prominent members of the community.  In many cases, lots of personal time and financial resources are contributed to the development and infrastructure of this project and at times, it can be a thankless job.

DRK Donation Address: Xcd1fuEWooU8QAHDQnpnapqkF9ri8KopNj

At the end of the week, I will be sending the funds to Evan Duffield (Lead Darkcoin Developer) to distribute amongst his team and the community as he sees fit.

So if you would like to show your appreciation for the fantastic work that's being done within the Darkcoin project, please send the team a beer or two, I'll get the ball rolling with 25 DRK.

Thank you in advance and feel free to bump this often  Smiley

Not to sound like you aren't trustworthy, but why not just donate directly to Evans address?

Because I didn't think of it to be honest.  Tungfa brought up a good point on DCT, best it goes to Fernando, a member of the Darkcoin Foundation, to distribute, as Evan may be too busy and probably doesn't need the added responsibility.

Not saying that Fernando is a slacker  Wink

ok. I sent 25 DRK as well.

But I don't like the idea. We are in serious trouble if DRK is no more than a charity.

This is a global project that portends to challenge Bitcoin which portends to challenge the entire financial system.

Something doesn't square if we are having to send 25 DRK to developers. Seems more like a toy.

What's gone wrong ?

[Conclusion:It is a toy]

I agree to an extent, however such is the nature of open source sometimes people work really hard and are left with little reward.  I'm not naming names, however I can think of 3 members of the community that sacrifice a lot of time, effort and sometimes personal money and they don't have large amounts of DRK to their name.

This is to buy those unsung heroes a beer or two and remind them that the wider community really appreciates their efforts.

its 0.0125 fees per mixing round.. so its not unusual to get charged 8x 0.0125 fees or more for 8 mixing rounds.

The reason that its still trying to mix is because it hasnt reach the 8 rounds yet for all yr inputs (if you hover yr mouse over yr completion bar it will show the average of the set rounds)
you can also put coin control on in the wallet (setting - options - display - display coin control features) and check in the send - inputs - list mode the darksend rounds that have been reached per amount so far.
Setting the rounds in your options back to the minimal reached rounds will get those inputs into yr Darksend Balance.

Thanks qwizzie. So here's another noob question; since I stopped the mixing before completion, will it pick up where it left off if I start it again or did I loose those fees for nothing?

It will pick up where it left off.

The current number of mixing rounds each of your coins (separated into "inputs") has gone through is bookkept in coin control. When each input reaches 8 (the number you set) then the mixing is finished regardless of if it was stopped and restarted or mixed all at once.
