Potcoin ,when I think about it is one of the most suitable crypto's out there. Suits the community so well, and with the legal issues changing for weed (for the better), I think we'll be very happy to be early holders. I just hope marketing initiatives can achieve market penetration before bitcoin does by default.

We feel the same way and we are dedicated to building many great tools for users and merchants to get this coin adopted anywhere cannabis is legal or used medically. hopefully in 5 years that will be all of north America and maybe even more!!  The time for change has come!

I wouldnt worry about that. Soon enough there will be software aplenty a la Verisend that makes conversion simple. All vendors will accept all cryptos at some point through a single process. All that matters is the community and development uptake and sustainability, imo. That said, we've more chance of getting vendors accepting Potcoin in the near-term future than almost any other coin out there bar Bitcoin. They will *want* to support for reasons beyond commercial. What other coin has that? Well, Einsteinium is a nice idea, but scientists are very busy people so they are going to have to spread it harder and further than Potcoin has to.

Litecoin and NLG come to mind. Both being used in various merchant capacities, with NLG growing faster than LTC.

What's the difference between "commercial" and "merchant"? I meant for reasons with hundreds, nay thousands of years of cultural capital behind it - the universal oppression of pot smokers and the empathetic bond we share through a shared altered state of consciousness. No other coin has that.. though there is METH lol

Leafcoin wants to plant trees to combat global warming.  Greencoin wants to create renewable energy solutions, as does solarcoin.  I could probably go on and on, but that was just the first page of the altcoin subforum.

Having a great idea is one thing.  Implementing it is another.

As far as everyone thinks POT has come... it hasn't.  That is the cold reality.  Not spreading FUD, just stating facts.  The only vendor that openly accepts POT, in the industry that POT is targeting, is Rock River.  Unfortunately, they don't accept it for medication, and as far as I can tell, they don't take online orders for the stuff you can buy with POT.  Unless there are more vendors that we don't know about, that's it.  There still is no accepting vendors list anywhere.... STILL.

Mind you, the price is increasing, and that's great.  But there needs to be industry acceptance... not the blind hope for industry acceptance.

I agree that there needs to be a more prominent vendor list somewhere. But I don't think its right to say that the only vendor accepting Potcoin is River Rock. There are plenty of them (i.e. coinpayments.net), they just aren't dispensaries selling marijuana. The coin is supposed to be for the industry as a whole, and nowhere does it say you should use Potcoin exclusively to buy Pot.

What's the difference between "commercial" and "merchant"?

Commercial typically indicates business-to-business. Merchant usually means someone who sells to anyone who will buy. In the context of what I was saying, I simply meant merchant as in any willing vendor who will sell to any willing person. With NLG, I can buy food. I can place bets on World Cup. LTC has been used for all of this and more. You see what I mean?

With POT, I can buy.. a keychain. Not exactly the merchandising strength compared to NLG. Not to say it isn't capable down the road. Eventually.

One day.

I meant for reasons with hundreds, nay thousands of years of cultural capital behind it - the universal oppression of pot smokers and the empathetic bond we share through a shared altered state of consciousness. No other coin has that.. though there is METH lol

Someone has definitely been smoking their paper wallets. lol

I'm not saying that it is exclusive to purchasing medicinal marijuana.  Is there somewhere where I said that was the case?  That being said, what else can I buy right now?  Can I buy seeds, vapes, papers, hemp clothing, books, grow supplies, stash boxes... anything related to the medical and recreational marijuana industry?  That's what I'm talking about.  I completely agree that it isn't just about buying pot.

Rock River is great, but I can't buy anything from them from California.  There needs to be a head shop or a grow shop that sells online and ships nationwide.  If that is accomplished, others will follow suit.  Hell, if there was a grow shop that accepted it, I would be more than completely happy.  The forum member BitcoinAcceptedHere always has a WTS thread for MMJ goods.  Has anyone approached him to accept POT?

I'm just saying that everyone says how well this coin is doing in terms of it's goals, and I'm thinking it isn't quite as accomplished as people make it out to be.

For starters: All this potcoin paraphernalia talk like t-shirts, hats, cups, ashtrays and all the other small stuff SHOULD BE BEING SOLD right now on the main website (potcoin.com/store) or something. Just regular trinkets with the Potcoin Logo. People would spend POT at the store and advertising would leave the store, no brainer. It is pretty dam easy to get a logo put on anything you want, look around.

There are several smaller sites accepting it, heres a couple, both of which I've tried:

http://www.venusvaporizer.com/
http://pixskull.com/

There just needs to be a consolidated list of places that accept it and as far as I know it doesn't exist.

You're right to say Potcoin isn't as accomplished as some people make it out to be but we are a lot farther along in 6 months then most coins. Part of the problem is, marijuana is still only legal in 2 states, which significantly impairs our market. People outside of those 2 states still buy it with cash in back alleyways. Well maybe not in California where you are Wink but on the east coast its still very much illegal.

It bothers me so much there's still apparently not an official 'these places take potcoin' section on the potcoin website. Or did we miss it?
