They are working on a soft fork atm. the leaked ether is in a child DAO so the attacker has to wait another 27 days before he can withdraw. At a later time a hard fork will be proposed.
so that's good, the dump was only because of panic dumping? |

I'm reading about a fork here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/4oithy/a_too_big_to_fail_political_hard_fork_is_very/...my question is: If there is a fork to reverse what happened, then why should anyone buy ETH right now and say "cheap coins" - if these newly bought ETH will disappear in a rollback? What am I missing? edit: In other words, shouldn't the ideal strategy be "dump everything now for BTC, get the BTC out, and then get the ETH too after the rollback"? |

so what's happened now exactly, etheruem or the dao was hacked?, because i dumped already i was fearing to lose all my funds
I think it was not hacking but a splitting DAO vote or something. Its not a big deal I guess. Of course DAO the biggest holders of ETH, gave this crash like selling and it may continue for a while, in worst case scenario it would be around 20%. But I don't think this to happen. All I'm saying is a temporary crash creates once in a life time opportunity to go long on ETH i guess. The problem is we don't know where will be the bottom. This is why it is so important to go with options as a protective measures. Whatever you go long ETH, simply buy enough puts to cover your losses if any crash occur again. This is what the all hedge funds are doing this over and over again to make stable profits! i dont think it will go back to 25 cents btw a very interesting move we learn on the way to the future of money currencies assets or i say cryptos and i dont think such a crash will happen in the future if the dao has such a case again its all so new and every one is just a bit fast to panik with time we wont react to such news with selling |
