Something is wrong again?

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/5efqr9/attention_miners_please_raise_the_gas_limit/

In order to more quickly facilitate the "debloating" of the blockchain, please raise the gas limit and target gas floor to 3.3 million and resume accepting transactions if you have stopped. There has been no DoS attacks for the last 4 weeks so the risks associated with following these recommendations are reduced.

geth Mining

targetgaslimit 3300000 --gasprice 20000000000
Parity Mining

--gas-floor-target 3300000 --gasprice 20000000000
Simply put, the blockchain "debloating" is removing empty accounts from the Ethereum blockchain. EIP 161 that makes it possible to remove a large number of empty accounts that were put in the state at very low cost as a result of earlier DoS attacks. With this EIP, ’empty’ accounts are removed from the state whenever ‘touched’ by another transaction. Removal of the empty accounts greatly reduces blockchain state size, which will provide client optimizations such as faster sync times. The actual removal process will begin after the fork by systematically performing CALL to the empty accounts that were created by the attacks. Increasing the gas limit will allow for more transactions that CALL empty accounts.

A blog post by /u/vbuterin describing uncle rates and transaction fees when mining can be found here. It concludes that accepting transactions with a gas price of 20000000000 as suggested in this post is fairly close to optimal.

More information about the Spurious Dragon hard fork and the EIPs involved (including EIP 161) can be found here.

Hi,
I'm having an issue syncing my ethereum wallet with windows 64.
When seems the blockchain is downloaded entirely pretty fast (two days and just more than 10 giga) it starts from scratch again!!!
Now it's very slowly (more than two weeks) and I got more than 50 giga without sinc (now it got around 232335 blocks) and I'm pretty tired and annoyed.
Any guess? Thanks

To me, ETH is a big bubble. It is beginning to burst.
That is why I mine it and dump right away since the DAO fiasco.
Some people  (not much) are trying hard to hype it, but not many people buy their hype.
The major world ignores it.
The dev use it as a tool to make money, based on what we saw in the DAO fiasco and the recent many so-called ICOs. Through the DAO fiasco, I believe the future of ETH have been clear to me.

My suggestion to those who are new to ETH:

Invest no more than what you can afford.

Do not trust the hype news and the beautiful future of this coin, it is just a strategy to get your money.

lols the bubble burst a while ago...
 ETH  suffered from dao hack
ETH  suffered from btc price increase
ETH  suffered various network (gas) attacks since devcon2

Its still here...looking stronger to me than ever before.... Cool

ETH is still the #1 coin to buy when btc goes down  Wink
ETH is still the top performing currency on the planet for 2016  Tongue

Seriously you believe the bubble is burst?
To me, the ETH bubble is far from burst yet. When it burst, it will not be a 50% dump, but far more than that. If you are long enough in alt coin world, you know what I mean.
From what I know, the majority of people in crypto have no trust in ETH. It is an altcoin with huge hype.
What happened to ETH and how the dev handled those failures make ETH doomed for sure.

It is just another pump and dump coin.

That is why I try to warn those who are new to ETH.
Do your research, and do not trust the hype.

I mean, it's your opinion, and you're entitled to have it.  Just don't go preaching around as if it's fact.  Imo, and I think my views are consistent with the majority of miners, devs have done an absolute wonderful job executing this project.  Ethereum has the tech and has accomplished what no other alt coin has.  That's the reason it has such a following.  Such a market cap.  So many other applications and services being developed on top of it.  What other coin has all this in the same quantities?  This coin lis literally the opposite of a pump and dump coin.  If you've been in altcoin world for long, you know what I mean.

I've done my research, and have profited quite well so far from Eth.  I'm confident I'll continue to do so.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/ethereum-chart-issued-several-buy-signals/

ETH devs are people who are good at telling stories. Smart contract, internet of things, distributed internet, blockchain technology, proof of stake, etc. I have heard enough of these shit. I guess tomorrow we will see the hype of big data, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augumented reality.  Do you really think these hype are gonna work? They are just beautiful bubbles.
Remember, these hype are just trying to get your money.
From the DAO fiasco, it has been clear to the crypto community who these dev are and what they are trying to do.
You can claim that you are long enough in the alt world, and you have done your research, that is fine to me. Hold your bag and see what happens.

I am trying to warn forum members who are new to ETH, to not lose their money in ETH.

By the way, do not trust what they say in the news, do your research. Some news are very misleading.

I downloaded the latest geth and I am trying to resync but after downloading about 75% of the blocks in 12 hours, I am now seeing the sync process crawling or stopping constantly.  I have been trying to download the last 300,000 blocks over the last 24 hours or so.  I have downloaded 1 block in the last hour.  At this pace the sync will never finish.

Is there a problem? or is there a trick or something to get this process to move faster?

Yeah, you need to download the fast version of the blockchain 1st time around to save time, there is clip on youtube for that:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7d2WqX97EA&t=4s

Then, when running the wallet-qt have an extra line in CMD for Windows like --cache 1024.

However, once you have the blockchain downloaded, even on linux it is a tad slower then 3 months ago.

This distributed ledger, perhaps most interestingly, proposes a new consensus mechanisms, QuorumChain, which is “based on majority voting” and features Constellation, “a peer-to-peer encrypted message exchange.” Shocked  JPMorgan doesn’t exactly see Quorum as competition to Ethereum.

Quorum is designed to develop and evolve alongside Ethereum,”  Shocked the U.S.’s largest bank by assets writes. “Because it only minimally modifies Ethereum’s core, Quorum is able to incorporate the majority of Ethereum updates quickly and seamlessly.” JP Morgan open-sourced the distributed ledger.

So  what is the meaning on influence to the ETH,

Is the Quorum  a parasite of ETH?

As a independent blockchain , it seems than Quorumchain would copy/steal the core features and updates of the ETH project.

How do you think?
