When is the date for the next fork?
When is the date for the next fork?
So? When is the date for the next fork?
Why did you add the "So ?" ? Because this issue is urgent now. Parity and Geth, Ethereum’s two main clients, went out of synch at around 3PM London time today, accidentally creating two chains operating in parallel. As such, Ethereum’s blockchain currently is not in consensus. Users, especially exchanges, are strongly urged to refrain from transacting or to wait for a very high number of confirmations until the matter is resolved.

https://goldsilverbitcoin.com/jp-morgan-publishes-code-for-permissioned-ethereum/This distributed ledger, perhaps most interestingly, proposes a new consensus mechanisms, QuorumChain, which is “based on majority voting” and features Constellation, “ a peer-to-peer encrypted message exchange.” ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) JPMorgan doesn’t exactly see Quorum as competition to Ethereum. “ Quorum is designed to develop and evolve alongside Ethereum,” ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) the U.S.’s largest bank by assets writes. “Because it only minimally modifies Ethereum’s core, Quorum is able to incorporate the majority of Ethereum updates quickly and seamlessly.” JP Morgan open-sourced the distributed ledger. So what is the meaning on influence to the ETH, Is the Quorum a parasite of ETH? As a independent blockchain , it seems than Quorumchain would copy/steal the core features and updates of the ETH project. How do you think? My thoughts on this is that JP , one of the biggest banks in the world needs ETH....probably because ETH is the the most advanced financial technology out there and has the smartest devs. All banks are running on old dated systems and an upgrade is urgent but they also require privacy in transactions aswell as conversations as we move into a heavily gov snoopin gen. Quorum prob will never be available to the public and could copy alot of ETH...but im sure they will also be supporting ETH so they can copy them, lol ETH could end up gaining some of Quorums features. ETH has backing from some real deeeep pockets (jp, santander, microsoft)and ETH projects like, Consensys, Plutus and LO3 show to me that ETH has a very bright future.

Technically Bitcoin is a fork and Bitcoin Cash is the original blockchain. When the hard fork occurred, people had access to the same amount of coins on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.- NIST

It's working on Linux, but didn't have much of the blockchain to update.

Epool - Update As part of our bonus program, epools tokens rate of production has been reduced from 7x1ETC to 1x1ETC. Miners that have already mined epools keep the tokens they have already mined. We expect further reductions in distribution over the coming weeks. epool.io

Hey all, so i had to re-install my ethereum wallet on a new pc as the old hard drive ran out of space.
I copied my Keystore file and have copied it into the newly downloaded wallet.
The wallet is taking days to fully sync, it's still about 1000 blocks away and never quite reaches 100%.
My wallet however is showing 0 ETH balance when i've checked the blockchain and it should hold approx 25 ETH.
Any idea why the wallet is not showing my balance and why it's taking so freaking long to sync?
which wallet are you using? the defacto wallet i would say is geth. to resync with geth its highly recommended to use the --fast feature to minimize the effect the spam block transacitons that went on for weeks will have. your balance wont be up to date until you are at a synchronized block that has your last transaction for that address. use a blockchain expolorer website and plug in your address to get and accurate reading of what is actually in your account at current block. "to resync with geth its highly recommended to use the --fast feature to minimize the effect the spam block transacitons that went on for weeks will have." If the --fast feature is so useful, why it is not default setting? you can use ' --fast' flag only on sync from scratch

for me it seems it sync slower than new blocks are found.. I am using newest geth (1.5.3) maybe there is something what I could make to improve my sync speed? Any special parameter or so? Or how to switch to parity without losing already synced block?

Had a similar problem myself running Geth by itself - as opposed to using Parity on the back-end of the Mist wallet, normally the default package has Geth on the back-end of the Mist wallet. After you download the basic or fast blockchain and Mist reverts to updating full size of new blocks - it runs very slow on new blocks. You can increase the memory cache for the wallet too --cache 1024 (7 times bigger than default memory allocation), I haven't tried this with Geth on Linux yet, but it gives a 50% speed boost on Parity as long as your PC has enough ram installed in it. In a terminal, I run Parity with this command: parity --geth --cache 1024With Parity, a scratch new or reinstall of the fast blockchain takes much longer, like 10 hours as opposed to Geth's 1 hour download for the basic blockchain. But, afterwards the sync of new blocks at the normal block size is still as prompt as Geth was about 2-3 months ago ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) So, one day of new blocks can be updated in a couple of minutes - when you start getting new blocks info for live blocks found coming up on Parity you get more details on those blocks like "Import" descriptions on live blocks or number of transaction included in live blocks found! That, is when I start the Mist wallet on Linux.
