Pos is the final nail in the coffin

If it does not have PoW, it does not have support from the miners. The user community will be reduced. So it might be like other failed PoS coins.

Well done ETH devs....

Technically Bitcoin is a fork and Bitcoin Cash is the original blockchain. When the hard fork occurred, people had access to the same amount of coins on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.- NIST

Yelp, Geth and Mist is back to being quickest crypto Smiley

New blocks are syncing at old lightening fast speed.

Did a fresh install to test, basic download on Linux at 9.9GB finished in 1 hour 25 minutes and afterwards the new blocks are syncing up really quickly.

Parity is now super-fast syncing new blocks with the Mist wallet: the new Warp Sync feature (literally under 1 minute).

Published details: https://github.com/ethcore/parity/wiki/Warp-Sync

Changed the terminal command on Linux to add it the new feature:

parity --warp --geth --cache 1024

It has to be seen, to be believed Smiley

Great work from all the hard working developers, thank you for early Xmas present Grin

Yelp, probably just need to re-download the blockchain to get the benefits of the recent fixes.

Yes,

Keystore has you account details in it.

Make sure the Ethereum folder in appdata has had the blockchain deleted from it.

Should you want too try out Parity instead of Geth:

This tutorial shows you how to use Parity on Windows 10.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOo3_aSXoZE

Latest Parity version is on Ethcore website:

https://ethcore.io/parity.html

The Keystore folder is simply called Keys on Parity.

I would guess, though you need to go to the proper forums to get the official explanation, the old blockchain you are using is screwed up with nonce accounts or wallets address deliberately created to do the misdeed of a severe network attack on Ethereum over the last few months.

100% complete cleanup, probably, means these sketchy accounts and shady addresses have all been deleted from the blockchain. Therefore, the blockchain you have has all the old crap from the network attack still on it!

Whilst, people doing a fresh download of blockchain don't have all those sketchy and shady accounts now the cleaned up blockchain has been completed.

Therefore, if you delete your old blockchain and download the 100% clean blockchain, you account will sync properly with new blocks every 14 seconds.

I've opened up the Geth and Mist program a couple of times today and with 100% clean blockchain; it is syncing new blocks found over many hours within a minute or two Smiley

The very definition of a permissioned blockchain. People that run it decided your account is sketchy and your address is shady, so you're out. That is why some financial institutions love ETHF so much.

I'm having a little trouble installing ethminer.

In the past I tried using Ubuntu 14.04.5 desktop 64 bit, but I was having issues getting the amd software and drivers to install.

Ubuntu 15.05 has always been my "go to" OS for ethereum mining because of the ease of installing the drivers and ethminer. Although, its no longer supported by Ubuntu. (so sad)

Ubuntu 16.04, the last I saw was that Ubuntu was not allowing FGLRX-UPDATES to be installed. Kinda need that for my R9 295X2 cards. Today I looked for a guide and saw some mumble jumble of how to mine with 16.04 but good gawd, what a load of work. I gave up and went back to installing on 15.04.

HOWEVER: FGLRX-UPDATES installed easily as usual, but when I tried to install cpp-ethereum I got an error. I first added the repositories:

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ethereum/ethereum-qt
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ethereum/ethereum
sudo apt-get update

Then I typed:

Code:
sudo apt-get install cpp-ethereum

Which resulted in the error:

Code:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
cpp-ethereum : Depends: alethzero but it is not going to be installed
Depends: mix-ide but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Allrighty then ....  I tried to install alethzero, that had unmet dependenciy of libqt5webengine5, I tried to install libqt5webengine5 and wound up saying the package is missing, obsoleted etc .... and has no instalation candidate.

WTF! .... I --NEVER-- had any issues before... and I like using ethminer ....

Did something just break with the fork? or what is going on? How do I install ethminer now?

Thanks
