My little conspiracy theory is that they are ignorant about how difficulty is computed. Their hopes are to reduce the hashrate immediately before the difficulty change so that the next difficulty is lower than it otherwise would have been. If I'm right we probably have another 10 hours of dealing with this unless they go pick on a different pool.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

Well they aren't doing any damage to the difficulty here. We've found several blocks during the DoS...

Not that a DoS will lower the difficulty anyway... large miners will just failover to other pools even if Eligius is completely down.

I'd like to touch on something i read a while back in this thread..   (around pg 47 i think..)

Someone else reported receiving a payout and it not showing up in their wallet.  I too am having a similar problem..  On 3-21-14 @ 10:22:45 my stats page shows Eligius making a payout to me but it has yet to show up in my Blockchain wallet.  Any knowledge as to why this may be happening?

thanks for any intel

It's an issue with blockchain.info, not Eligius.

You could try searching for the transaction here as a secondary source of info: http://blockr.io/

strange..  so the block is listed, click on coinbase transactions and my wallet address is 2nd listed.  click on my wallet addi and it shows my info, with correct balance et al.  so why doesn't it show for me in blockchain.info or in my wallet??

These DDoSers are persistent I'll give them that...

Not really sure what they want to accomplish.

A while back, it was suspected some... unethical pool owners tried to DDoS other pools so that the frustrated miners of those pools would come to them.

Again, problem with blockchain.info.  the coins are there, but their database is broken somehow. I suggest you contact them about it or just import to another wallet software.

Just want to point out that we're about 7 hours into this DDoS. (Started at a little before 6AM my time and its 1PM now...)

They continue to just concentrate their firepower on one or two nodes and are just causing a nuisance to some miners who get forced onto other nodes.

Sorry about this. While my DDoS protection automation is pretty good, this attack is actually giving me a chance to test some new methods and I'm improving things as we go.

Hopefully either they give up or I make my protections just that much tougher.

I'll note that this attack really hasn't had a huge impact and note that we've found a good amount of blocks while it's been happening.

Does the merge mining of NMC work on your pool? I have been mining for a few months now, but I never got any NMC.  Cry

NMC payouts were paused on March 8th pending a rewrite of the payout code.

If you haven't received anything for "a few months" I suggest you double check your options and NMC payout addr.

OK, thanks. So the NMC payouts is now back online? Or it has been paused since March 8th?

Keep up the good work. Seems a lot of pools are under DDOS atm, so your work is highly appreciated!

I suspect a lot of financial industry are targeting pools. They want BTC to fail.

This is the Bitcoin gods telling you not to use an online wallet. I use and recommend Electrum. In the meantime, export your private keys and import them into a wallet such as Electrum or QT, and when it syncs, it should be there. If it's in the blockchain, it's there.
