Isn't DVC also a coin that is merge mined? Before adding MZC wouldn't it make sense to merge mine DVC?
(I like MZC and Huntercoin too)
Not just devcoin. I know that there are also i0coin, ixcoin, groupcoin and probably a lot more that I don't know about... There are a lot of them... But you get next to nothing for them... Getting 105% on PPS on NMC get you more... Again, scamcoins need not apply.

If just one of these coins crashes and important server a lot more bitcoin can be lost then the alt coin could give in the year. The only coin really worth doing is namecoin.

Failsafe mode again.... I guess I won't be getting my payout today after all. Does it really matter? Do you have a purchase being held up for lack of BTC? Given the current market price, which I believe is a little depressed, I'd wait for some recovery before spending any, anyway. I'm fine with the occasional delays, I don't have a hole burning in my digital pocket...

Failsafe mode is a "state" of the payment system. It reaches this state when something awry happens like an orphaned block. It is perfectly normal as the system is designed to do this. Keep calm and mine on.

What worries me is that I'm running only five ants on Eligius. Normally, they get together around one TH/s. Right now, they show me 1.89 TH/s which is either an error or they are soon exploding. Unfortunately, they run in the office and I've got no way to check them at the moment :-)

I see about 2 times what I should be seeing too. So don't worry too much. And if you read notice you will see: Some stats are likely not updating as they should right now (128/256 second hash rates, balances, balance graph, payout queue).

I don't (and I don't leave that much in there anyway) but that's not the point. I LIKE the pool, I LIKE Luke and WK, they seem like good people. But over the last 6 weeks this has happened way to many times. I know 2 people with a combined 1.8 TH who left the pool because of this. Difficulty is up and the pool hashrate is dropping because of things like this. -Dave

I'm putting in 1%. M

M
They were putting in 0.5% AFAIK but not sure. I am at 0.3% (I'm cheap and broke) Other pools are also free (GHash [with a lot of merged mining that works]/ EMC[no merged but the handy push here to instantly get your BTC button]) As of now (10:00 AM EST) one of my miners can't even find Eligius (it's on cable) the other 2 on my office network can. As I said before I like this pool, I want it to succeed. But till the issues get fixed I don't see that happening. -Dave

IIRC, EMC doesn't pay transaction fees, and no merged. p2pool has horrendous variance. Pick your poison. Remember this pool has been under constant DDOS assaults for over 2 weeks now. M

p2pool has horrendous variance. I've been running my 180GH/s on p2pool lately and it's not that bad. Yes the average block time is 1-1.5 days, but I'm okay with that myself.

M Getting very OT here but: GHash is evil. <-- Why do you say that? It's a business, they are out to make money, is that evil? EMC doesn't pay transaction fees, and no merged <-- Does not pay fees and no merged, but as I said you do get paid when you click the button. Till I get my NMC which is now 30 days out Eligius is not merged either . However, because of DGM when my entire network ate itself I still was earning with EMC while I fixed a BGP issue. p2pool has horrendous variance <-- True, but you know that going in. And you can run your own node. (I do) Still can't connect on cable and now the traceroute from my network is all kinds of funky getting to stratum.mining.eligius.st / 54.225.179.121 but since it's on AWS I don't think it's on their end. I am peered to Amazon through NYIIX so it might be that. Off to work to play with some routes. -Dave

A local node doesn't affect variance. Still can't connect on cable and now the traceroute from my network is all kinds of funky getting to stratum.mining.eligius.st / 54.225.179.121 but since it's on AWS I don't think it's on their end. Haven't lost connectivity here in a long time. Just webserver issues. M

This is the first pool in my btc mining experience, and it hasn't been very positive. As of right now I've been waiting 5 days for a payout.
