MultiBit sounds cool too and is in a sticky someone as the "official" recommended wallet, I believe. it doesn't require special servers like Electrum. I've not tried it myself yet, I like and use Electrum, but MultiBit is another reasonable choice for a node-less wallet.

Just want to point out that we're about 7 hours into this DDoS. (Started at a little before 6AM my time and its 1PM now...)

They continue to just concentrate their firepower on one or two nodes and are just causing a nuisance to some miners who get forced onto other nodes.

Sorry about this. While my DDoS protection automation is pretty good, this attack is actually giving me a chance to test some new methods and I'm improving things as we go.

Hopefully either they give up or I make my protections just that much tougher.

I'll note that this attack really hasn't had a huge impact and note that we've found a good amount of blocks while it's been happening.

-wk

Just as an FYI I have 3 miners on 2 different networks. The 1 miner on cable (Optimum Online) cannot get to you. The other 2 which are on my own IP block can.

how does "putting this user's payout after a 35 block delay." increase instead of decrease over time?
24 hours ago that was 32 block delay.
It was 35 like 10 hours ago. You would think it would decrease by now, but it seems I should expect it to increase instead.

Just seems odd, are others payouts at elite status to mine?

Mine varied like that. I think if you go back a couple of pages Luke Jr explained it as, it is an estimated position in the payout after x blocks. So whatever the software uses to work that out has variables that change slightly. The main thing is Eligius pays out. It gets there it just takes time LOL.

Edit: It's half way down page 55.

I'll work towards a manual payout to catch up the queue once I deal with this *still ongoing* DDoS.... 11 hours now

They're actually losing pretty badly here.  Every time a botnet is used for a DoS, many people notice their infected machines are sluggish and take action eventually.  This particular attacker, based on my estimates, has already lost over half of their bots.

Are there problems with NMC payouts?  I've been mining at a good clip for a week now and I haven't seen a single NMC payout.  Yes, I configured the NMC address.

A problem with the NMC system was discovered a week or so ago, if you read back in this thread wizkid addresses the issue. Basically payments are on hold until he can get the system fixed. For more info read back a bit.

It has been a while since last NMC payments were made.

What form of attack is this, just a SYN flood attack, or an app-protocol level of attack?

Here's something for y'all to mull over.

Rumor has it in the fiat investment circles at Stansberry Research (something to which I pay to subscribe) that Western Union and Moneygram are responding to Bitcoin's obvious attack on their business model by... buying LOTS of petahashes of mining power.  That could account for the 28%, and growing, "unknown" slice of the pie at https://blockchain.info/pools.

On one hand it's nice to see some very large financial companies investing in the future of Bitcoin.  Apparently, to them, the writing is on the wall... Bitcoin is going to overtake the international money movement business.  If you can't beat it, buy it.  If you can't buy it, overwhelmingly join it.

On the other hand, the pool with the most petahashes mines the most coin, creating bad luck for the rest of the pools.

It's just a rumor at this point, but it makes sense.

Anyone getting visions of the proverbial 51% attack?

Hey are there problems with the NMC payouts.......

Look no-one expects you to read all 58 pages of this thread but at least read back 1 page where it was answered 3 times, and 4 times on the page before that, and 2 times on the page before that.....

That was some jump in difficulty! It looks like the site is reporting my normal hash rates again. Does that mean the attack is over? You think this is going to happen just before every network difficulty adjustment?
