According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in
Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it
will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Reminder that Erik Voorhees and Obsidian developer JP Richardson are two of the panelists on the panel "Blockchain, Bitcoin and Digital Currencies" at 1:00 PM Central Time at Digital Economy 15 in Omaha, Nebraska tomorrow, October 2. I can confirm they are both attending because I sat at their table (just to Erik's right) during dessert at the pre-conference dinner a few hours ago. Blackcoiners at the conference should plan to gather immediately after the 1:00 panel and/or at the after-hours mixer starting at 5:00 PM. Hope to see you there. www.digitaleconomy.io

is that cold staking? I've been unable to test it until the fork, ive got the preliminary code to cold staking, will be able to finish this shortly and will send with the next release. If you notice in the new source there is at least 5 new api commands specifically for making your own block (checkkernel and submitblock) ... most of those ive tested except finishing the full implementation in the BlackHalo UI In the meantime, congrats everyone! This is by far the most secure implementation of staking ever! Congrats rat4! Also, this release has checklocktimeverify so now you can do time locked transactions, which means we can do AT with other AT coins, do "Halo" two party escrow in one beautiful transaction and hell maybe build a lightning network?! Its great!

I hope this wallet doesn't suffer from the same invalid rpc header (length) that rendered the last build unusable for me
That bug was fixed about 5 months ago

Yes I am very much here, the last release of BlackHalo has a full price tracker for selling and buying coins for cash, its a peer to peer cash exchange. The other template being the original custom contracts, still working perfectly. Now im working on the last few templates mainly selling and buying with a shipping calculator etc. The decentralized markets have been working for at least 7 months now, fully tested and functional with very few bugs (other than being somewhat slow depending on bitmessage) Im still updating the linux and mac builds, however this month i was moving and was unavailable will be working on it again in a few days. Rat4 does the coin core functionality so he is essentially Blackcoin. His focus is on security, optimizing the blockchain, protocol, securing the chain and exotic features like locktimes and new daemon commands or mining rules. My work is in BlackHalo and NightTrader, which leverage Blackcoin and makes peer to peer tools, like smart contracts, decentralized markets, decentralized exchange and user friendly features like templates and pay to email. The next big release will be NT exchange however we needed markets first as a failsafe, to keep it fully peer to peer and that provoked me to finish templates and user friendliness which has improved a lot over the year. That would fully complete the core client, where an api on the back would be something people can plug into their own projects. Sorry im not always checking bitcointalk, its not my favorite site to communicate due to excessive trolling but can always be reached on reddit (r/blackcoin)

can you opensource it? i feel very unsafe not compiling everything by myself
blackcoin is open source and there are many forks and copies. yet there is only one blackcoin...

not hashing, folding and curing (check FLDC merged-folding! reuse good GPUs)

Yes I will open source. Only currently, I'm trying to get all the little features in the client before I do. However, I do give people source for building that they can audit and can supply instructions for building. The only thing I change is some of the variable names so the code is harder to clone. If you want building source, pm me or send me an email.

You've upgraded to v1.2, right? Yes, I did. Does the logfile show any errors at all? You could try to contact rat4 via IRC (#blackcoin @ freenode IRC) If everything else fails: Backup everything, then you could try to export your private key, set up a completely fresh wallet, import your key into the new wallet, rescan.

Yes, looks like I'll have to start over...... the debug.log file is filled with errors, but at block 751......and it always stops at 136391 or 136392...... Here are the last few entries from the log; it is full of errors about orphan block 751....... oops, i can't past here, i guess
