Myriadcoin 0.8.99.8 - Required update

Technical description
Previously the work a block contributed to the blockchain was determined by the difficulty of the algorithm used to solve the block.
This gave higher difficulty algorithms (like SHA) an advantage over lower difficulty algorithms in certain cases.
This change implements algorithm weightings to normalise the work a block contributes to the block-chain across all the algorithms.
The weightings for each algorithm is based on the work required to calculate a specific hash algorithm.

Special thanks for Gatra for his input.

Nice, MYR continuing the innovation. Glad Gatra is involved too, this project continues to attract many of the brightest brains in the scene.

Hello guys,

great News about the new Security Feature.

I made some updates to the Community Bountyboard Today.

http://just-wegi.de/myriadbounty/

The Donation-Accounts are now linked to the blockexplorer, number of donations is shown, and you can sort for every criteria and use a search function.

Next feature is referencing the people who curate the accounts and with it a way to add new bounties for everybody.
ETA on the Feature is sometime next Weekend.

Wowza! It's officially time to send you the bounty reward for doing this!

Very interesting coin. I like the idea of multiple algo's. Will even more algo's be added in the future?

I tried the faucet and the transaction fully confirmed in 3 minutes, so it's pretty fast too.

That's something we will always be monitoring. We need to set up a quality voting/community consensus mechanism to add new algorithms.

Now that the big security update is happening, we need to start looking forward. I think the next best thing for growth is: Android Wallet-->Merchant Adoption

If anyone has any connections with CoinPayments or other online shops (a la AltOutlet), let us know! For Myriad to be a real currency that anyone can mine and use, we need merchant adoption.

Hey guys, I submitted Myriad to coinpayments.net. They accept new coins with public votes, so next time they announce one via Twitter @CoinPaymentsNet please submit your vote! Merchant adoption is the next biggest step if Myriad is going to be considered a serious currency.

Thanks!

Bro, altoutlet already accepts Myriad and there are confirmations that people bought some stuff with it: https://altoutlet.com/myr
Now we need a community designed T-shirt so I can buy some:)))
I don`t think it will be a problem for them to add it, seeing how Doge, Globe, Premine already have their shirts, I`m thinking of a plain white with Myriad logo as a good beginning..

This is awesome, I've faced all my miners to this coin now since I believe this innovative thinking will make it one of the most popular coins.

Hi, I consent with Neuromode. Alt outlet is only one of the merchants. We cannot stop with one. There are so many merchants who are already accepting different cryptocurrencies for many different products. We should approach as many as possible and increase their number.

But I suppose MYR should be pretty well distributed among a lot of different users before that and price needs to stabilize. But looking at the difficulty not many people are interested in MYR. (very few people might be mining - I might be wrong here). We need many people to start spending MYRs for real products also. .Not just store them. We should be able to wear, eat and drink by spending MYRs.

Basically we need more stake holders..

Already five different kinds of people might be mining and keeping these but we need a lot more PR to increase the adoption among miners and merchants. Few people here on forum and reddit are already doing a great job. I wish I could have done something to promote but I do not have much time and technical expertise. ( Although I am mining a lot of them). We need the adoption like Doge or Litecoin. ( I hope MYR can be better than Bitcoin lsomeday looking at the fast transaction time)

Drop us a line to see how we can also help get you in the hands of merchants.

We add coins without public votes.....we work directly with the communities to help adopt coins for their service needs.

This change implements algorithm weightings to normalise the work a block contributes to the block-chain across all the algorithms.
The weightings for each algorithm is based on the work required to calculate a specific hash algorithm.
...
Is it possible to normalize the weights to the most recent/highest difficulty algo instead of using fixed weights?  Otherwise, we may have to adjust all the weights again and again later on to chase after changes in the relative difficulties between the algos.
Since it's a profitability thing I think ratio oriented weights are good but I also see your point so a more elaborate update could be included when and if we decide to add remove or swith an algo.

How do the fixed weightings compare to the current difficulties?

I've not had a detailed look at the code, but it seems the multipliers are:

Code:
SHA: 1
Scrypt: 4096
Qubit: 1024
Groestl: 512
Skein: 24

The current difficulties as an inverse proportion of SHA are roughly:

Code:
SHA: 1
Scrypt: 74000
Qubit: 10500
Groestl: 2900
Skein: 320

Doesn't that mean that an SHA block can still eat several non-SHA blocks?

Yes, those are the current multipliers. They attempt to bring the difficulties closer to the same order of magnitude as SHA. So SHA has an advantage (at current difficulty), but the advantage is several orders of magnitude less than previously.

One of the proposed solutions was to dynamically alter the factors. This is something that will be considered for the future.

Guys, this coin is a cool idea, but it's just a technical exercise between geeks at the moment - it stands no chance of success if it's not promoted to real people and fresh hands are enticed in.

In this way it reminds me of aircoin, lots of brains but little interest in marketing and , like aircoin, time will run out.

Is anyone working on a media push?
