Here's a reason Piggycoin will (and needs to) go much higher:
At current pricing of ~60 satoshis, those voucher envelopes for 500 Piggycoins is only worth 15 cents. Kids are kids, but I would think even with kids people will want to be gifting them or investing for them in amounts of like $10 or $20 or more. So that implies another 60X rise is needed...
IDEA for folks: Consider stocking up on Piggycoins and making plans to give them to young relatives, children of friends (or friends of your children), etc. Use the piggycoin vouchers and website, etc. This will be a neat way to introduce their PARENTS and others to the world of bitcoin and altcoins. So Piggycoin wins, but then Bitcoin etc. wins as well as we grow the cryptocurrency community. That's one reason I LOVE this idea.

Just another reason I still love this coin and continue to hold my investment... I casually recommended the 88 bikes program as a possible online charity that might be a good partner for us a few weeks ago in a single post- and now it looks like the dev is moving forward with that as part of our new foundation. Thanks for letting the community shape our direction!

After the Dogecoin halving, it just isn't profitable to keep mining doge. Maybe it was a "gut" feeling, but this coin just seems to be different in a good way, Just like doge, a piggy is just appealing and friendly. Looking through this post, not a single negative thing has been said about this coin. So I'm gonna risk it for the biscuit, money makin' all the bacon.
Now I'm not a master programmer, but my day job is working with kids and also youths/ special needs. If there is anyway I can help please feel free to send an Oink my way. Thanks.
May the Oink be with you.

One thing to keep in mind, look at the blocks page on chickenstrips.net Green is good, it means we're beating the 'estimated averages' http://piggy.chickenstrips.net/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocksAt the time of this writing, folks are getting 55% more coins per hour than estimated, 25% more in the last 24 hours, and 7% more over the last week. Today was a good day!

Before entering in this discussion if you wanna read a little bit on PoS/PoW you can do it here (page 3). I've seen a lot of people in the community and even outside of it asking if/when we are gonna add PoS. Now that Reddcoin's new PoSV algorithm was announced I'd like to revive the discussion and get the feeling of what YOU, the community, think. I'll start and present you with my thoughts: I think PoS has it's advantages and it would fit nice into the concept of economic education we are trying to persuade, the "save coins in your piggybank and be reward for it" feature is really good one and it's something we should heavily take in consideration, I also like the environmental friendly position that PoS takes. In the other hand we have PoW and my honest opinion is that we should stick with it. And I have a simple reason why. Piggycoin's main objective is to educate kids and newcomers about cryptocurrencies and that's what we should be focusing on. The biggest cryptocurrencies are without any doubt PoW ones, so our code should be as similar as possible to those. I'm not saying economic education isn't another important aspect of this coin, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying crypto education is far more important to us than economic education. I'd love to hear your opinion too! ps: this has nothing to do with #piggyweek, just a random community brainstorm.

I think a child will be able to relate to 'savings earning interest' far more readily than the concept of cracking blocks through solving complex cryptographic hash functions. In about 6 to 12 months the PoW landscape will be quite different; we will be in a situation where mining requires ASICs, expensive specialist devices that are far beyond the reach of children leaning about crypto currencies. I would consider a hybrid PoW* and PoSV system - with the PoSV system generating more coins than the PoW. It would make PoW intentionally unprofitable and keep the difficulty low, allowing non-ASIC mining to continue, but more importantly teaching kids the value of saving up.
*Perhaps even harden PiggyCoin against ASIC mining by implementing X11 or one of its kin.

Some PoS implementation could be good and nice (like in bank you get interest for loaning your money, why it's not possible with PiggyCoins?). Also, maybe you will consider question of algo changing to x11 or groestl, summer is comming and plain scrypt is too hot and ASIC friendly, at the end of a year only desperate persons will mine scrypt with GPU.

Don't worry about Asics. People are not going to be mining your little piggy coins with those monsters. There are 100 more profitable and stable coins to mine. Besides that, there are no buyers on the exchanges for them to dump massive piggy, so don't worry, keep it PoW, but if you are worried, just switch it to Scrypt-N, that will keep asics out, but not go to a totally new or unproven alogrythm. But of course that requires a hard fork.
P.S. What is piggy week? Some clues please.

I would like to see PoS in Piggycoin. It's more power saving and better for our Childrens "Look daddy, I had 100 Piggys in my Piggybank and now I have 102! Jupi! " It will be great also to change scrypt to more ASIC resistant technology

I like the idea of a modest POS element. Let it be modest (no more than 5%) so the value of the coins are not diluted, and stable (not a high % at first and then declining).

Yeah but can you have it both ways, still PoW mineable and PoS? People want to mine it.
