Hrm im suffering from a strange issue


java.io.IOException: you forgot to upload the bitstream to the FPGA

You need to power-cycle the board while disconnected from USB.  In other words, unplug both the power and USB at the same time, then plug them back in.

This is a "feature" of the ztex USB chip/code.  Stuff like this is the reason why I am so adamant about not throwing any more of my time down the black hole of debugging other peoples' proprietary USB interfaces.

I'd welcome a HOWTO for the Cairnsmore1 board (for Linux please). I don't even know where to begin with... There was one person reporting success with a single FPGA but from what I understand they needed to connect to the JTAG directly and not through USB.

And it's for the "normal" bitstreams which work OK for me (on occasion one board disappears, but it has become rare with the most recent bitstreams).

What I'm looking for is a way to run the TML on a Cairnsmore if possible.

Please email me.  I try to avoid IRC because I find that if I let myself hang out on IRC I never get any work done.  Email is a lot less distracting.

Also, this forum is really not the best way to get a hold of me in a hurry.  I sometimes go for up to a week without checking the forum or my forum PMs.  But I respond to emails promptly, especially if the email is short and something in the subject line indicates that it's an urgent matter.

The main website lists the x6500 as unconfirmed. Has anyone successfully gottten the TML miner to run on a x6500 board? And if so were was anything special required?

TML version 1.11 has been posted.  This includes a new bitstream "leibniz" with support for two additional boards, the "x2" and "dominator".  You should stick to "kreisel" unless you have one of these boards; it is faster and is still the default.

Dominator users, add these arguments when invoking the TML:


    -Dbitstream=leibniz -Dclock_pin=csg484.W11 -Dclock_pin_freq=6.666


X2 users, add these arguments when invoking the TML:


    -Dbitstream=leibniz -Dclock_pin=fgg484.H22

While this indeed did solve problems in the past, it now still seems non recoverable.

Edit, sudo solved the issue, but that is not the way to go. At least its runnin again.

With all the delays, don't you think making this project open source would have given you more "revenue"?
Look at the CM1 bitstream - a 300 BTC bounty was paid out and could have been yours.

Doesn't work.
My Cable is detected, but loading the Bitstream Fails.

the 'tml-leibniz.bit' bit stream file, has the 10x size of a standard bitstream file and it is an 'Ascii' file and not binary like a standard bit file.
It seems that 'tml-leibniz.bit' is an ngc, ncd file or something like this.

After reinstalling everything new, on a brand new Ubuntu 12.10 i386.
FPGA Loading other Bitstreams works.

Loading in the Device works, but now i got this error:

"DCM did not report ready for programming"

That happens in ...miner.DCM.setClockFrequency(DCM.java:151)
