I'm not so sure about your first reason but I think your second reason is spot on.
Whether we realize it or not, the stock market really does affect all of our daily lives.
Even day to day price fluctuations on normal goods can go up and down depending on the performance of these markets.

And with such a huge crash, of course it would affect the crypto market.
We've got long term investors who aren't making risky trades.
Then we have all the newer ones that jumped in during the bull run last Jan who are just hodling cause they lost so much.
And now, we can't anticipate any new money coming in from institutional investors.
