I don't want to go thru all these pages, but did the OP actually reply since the orignal post and about his actual sale?
For all we know he could of taken profit a long time ago.

No he only mentioned that he would hold onto the coins as an investment, but who knows what he ended up doing. I wouldn't be surprised if he still follows this thread under another account.

His last post was made on June 01, 2014, this was his post, I am back Smiley Been busy doing other things since I sold my house for bitcoin, and haven't really been following the price that closely. I check every so often and lo and behold it is back to $660+ right now!!!!!!! Well it looks like my $400K investment is going to make me a millionaire very soon. Now back to what I was doing... enjoying life. By the looks of his profile, he was last active today: Last Active: October 14, 2014, 07:13:17 PM I have to say, I am pulling for the guy, you'd think anyone would who isn't a complete ass hole. No one want to see a guy lose all of an investment. Might not have been a great idea to sink it all into bitcoin, but to each their own.

If he can afford to hold his bitcoins for some more time, he might be safe.

Price is already low. Why would he sell his coins anyway?
Well, the obvious question arises: What if it goes even lower?

Lmao this thread is now comedy gold. So this dude has effectively lost 1/2 the value of his sale?
He didn't loose anything... We're now at like 350-400 range. Price will go up sometime in future. Price will go down some time in future. Only loose when you sell at a crap price.

Too many people think bitcoin should be at 10k by now.. Its a long term investment. The shoot up from 10 to 100 was a very bull market. the move to over 1k was, well, fucking insane.. Like ive said many times, if your not a day trader, treat it like you would silver or gold, save it until you absolutely need it. I had to sell some because I had to, luckily it was near the all time high, (total luck out), worked out well, because now I dont freak out too much when btc falls. I hear too many stories "I bought at 800 and im sick of this shit, im out" people like that should never be investing. they are thinking that btc will just keep skyrocketing upwards, nothing does that, not even rockets, lol..

Gold has a history going back to prehistory. Bitcoin has been around for 5 years. Suggesting that it should be treated like gold is not just irresponsible, it's cruel. OTOH, if your intended meaning was "dump it like you should've dumped gold in 2011," then disregard. ... Only loose when you sell at a crap price.
In that case, let me sell you some shares in my gold synthesis business. It's a great deal, 'coz you can't lose! Just never sell. How many should I put you down for, friend?

Depends on what you are investing in obviously. It needs to be something that is developing. I'm pretty sure the price per bitcoin will be higher than today's price at some point in time. And also that it will be lower at some point too. Your gold synth business thingy I have no knowledge about so I'll pass.

Don't be ridiculous. You might win, and you definitely can not lose, because "can't lose if you don't sell." No matter how improbable the upside, there is no downside. How many would you like then?

Price is already low. Why would he sell his coins anyway?
It would make sense if he expected a higher return in another investment, or if he just preferred to spend the money.

You're totally stupid and idiot ! I can not understand why you sold your house for bitcoin ! And now, where do you sleep? Under bridge? First of all, let's accept the fact that you also believe in Bitcoin's potential, otherwise you wouldn't be here, posting on this forum. Secondly, the investor OP was already aware of potential risks of his action, but probably he was more optimistic than you or me and whether he is wiser than you or me - time will only tell. So there's a possibility you or me turn out to be an idiot in future, not him. Third, why would you think he only had one house to live in? Probably he is living on a villa that he also owned and you're posting messages from under the bridge? I can understand there's a risk involed in Bitcoin investment, but the possibility of gain is also equal.

Hi All, I have been following Bitcoin for over a year and was the first person ever to put my house for sale for bitcoin. http://www.cbc.ca/newsblogs/yourcommunity/2013/03/alberta-man-accepting-bitcoins-in-exchange-for-home.htmlNot sure if you followed my story from a year ago, but the house just sold on Friday, and will make the news tomorrow I suspect. When the house closed on Friday I got approximately 648 BTC for my house which is based on prices over the past 6 months when the deal was actively negotiated, legal fees, realtor fees, and a bunch of contract wording that I frankly don't understand. I am now all in! I really believe in bitcoin. It is the future of the world. I look forward to the continued price increase and one day I plan to own my own island. I will truly be a bitcoin billionaire by the time I am 25 I believe. This house was inherited from my father who passed away a few years ago and he always believed in me and told me I would make it big one day and so I shall. Wish me luck Tay More BTW OP, if it is cool with you, can you disclose the financials on this one? What was the market value of the house and how many BTC you sold it for? I wouldn't push it though, I am just curious. This is a legendary case in the history of Bitcoin, just like the one with Pizzas.
