When the prices of altcoins went too deep then the chances of getting recovery is less so you need to aware of your coins potential level,but if I am in this situation I will convert those altcoin into bitcoin and hold longer.

Hodl is very bad decision in the beginning 2018 but will be best decision for now because all crypto been going down to more than 90% , and with low capitalization and more adoption of crypto the price has big potential to going up to the highest price. 2018 really was a bad year. Let's realize a lesson that something that gets too fast will die very quickly.
there will be no more big waves of whales, our market will slow and recover slowly. we should consider making a completely new strategy. Our market is no longer as easy as 2017.

At least last year taught that not always holding is the right thing when prices fall, you have to analyze market conditions first,

XRP is at the top 3 level,I won't pick that coin for holding because we kow it is centralized and it can be controlled by the people who wanted to destroy the crypto currencies so for holders the potential level of coin is important not the marketcap alues.

Definitely hold is better decision right now on this bear market. But you have to choose top crypto coins for hold to get maximum of benefits.

HODL is the best option if you are holding top level coin or some legit coin.holing some shit or low cap coin is just like you are wasting your time and money. A lot of coins would die soon only legit coin with legit team would survive. So recheck your holding list and try to research more about the project remaining fund and road map.

I agree. Most top coins are for long term and haven't yet peaked at full so it's just sound to keep them in your stash. Personally i like the chances of lower coins for day trading especially because a lot of them tend to be a little more volatile in this kind of market situation.

Hodling coins that don't have potential or unreal projects will only waste time and money. Here we go, 1 year in this bear market already. There’s plenty of people still in crypto who are waiting to sell out once Bitcoin get back its peak price to recover their initial investment. As you said, looking for BTC to run all the way to mainstream by the end of 2019

Those people should have sold when they had their chance, it is going to be almost impossible for anyone that bought their coins almost at the top to keep holding, there could be some incredible individuals capable of doing that but we cannot really expect that a person that is losing more than 75% of his capital will be capable of holding his coins for 3 or 4 years.

Every year market situation cannot be the same, but when the market situation is not in a positive direction then it is a very good option to grab many potential coins when their prices are very low in the market. Many people will think negative when the market situation is very bad, but people who have good experience in trading will grab coin when the market is going down.

Safest did you think? if holding is the safest strategy, I don't need to be afraid anymore when holding a small altcoin when the price falls, because holding is the safest choice? but it's not like that, holding can be a bad choice like today. of course many people suffer losses because they bought it during a peak some time ago and held it until now
