So we had two upsets on day 1, with Scotland losing to Singapore and Oman beating UAE. The second one was not much of a surprise, since the UAE is facing some internal issues right now. Three of their key players (Mohammad Naveed, Shaiman Anwar and Qadeer Ahmed) were recently suspended for attempting to fix matches. So they are fielding a weakened squad.
That is suicide to fix matches where everything is monitored and their careers are literally over, i understand they wanted to make quick money by fixing matches because they might not be getting huge remuneration like the major teams but fixing matches cannot be accepted and these three changes can impact the entire team Huh as i am not aware of the team members. Life ban is the solution to avoid any of these to happen again.

Yeah majority of players might survive 40 overs  Grin and List of players is not in public domain atm but atleast 110 players already confirmed their availability for this tournament. ABD is Italian Stallion when compare to old era players Grin

No surprise there. AB de Villiers retired not because he was getting old, but because he had some disagreement with the South African cricket board. He retired at the age of 33 and we have 40 year olds playing international cricket now. Anyway, after Amla and de Villiers retired, the quality of the South African cricket went down like a falling rock.
Its true but every team goes with this phase. In the end its all depends on cricket board and everyone knows what CSA doing in their backyard.

Unfortunately Pakistan players are not part of this league.
If the Indian cricket board is conducting the tournament then i understand why Pakistan players are not a part of this league, why do they mix politics with sporting events, Pakistan produced many world class fast bowlers and they had some good clean strikers of the ball like Afridi, Imran Nazir, Abdul Razzaq and so on.
We can't deny or ignore the ground realities, in the recent time all diplomatic bridges are burned down to ashes and i don't see any bilateral series betwenn both of them for at least next 10 years or so. unless something dramatic change of events ( 0.01% chance)

Really today is my bad day because I was loss around 45usd worth of trx coins on placeing a bet between Scotland VS Singapore  matche in ICC world t 20 qualify in last two over cost the match for Scotland because of they are loss the match by 2 run and congrats to Singapore .

I was thinking about placing a bet, but then found out that the ICC had decided not to live stream the matches. And I never bet on matches which are not being broadcast on TV or YouTube.

So these matches cannot be watched live on internet or any TV channel  Huh
That's a sad news. There are people who like to watch these matches and it is not entertaining to only watch the scores at https://www.espncricinfo.com.

Anyone if still have the link of live streaming, please do let me know.

There are multiple factors in play here. I don't think that the players representing United Arab Emirates get very good salaries. So obviously making some quick money always look attractive for these people. Also, a lot many of the games are getting live-streamed. The T20 match between Nepal and Singapore had more than a million viewers earlier this month. A lot of money is being wagered even on matches involving the associate nations.

And another thing to remember here is that none of the players representing the United Arab Emirates in cricket are citizens of the UAE. Most of them are Pakistani citizens, with some Indians and Sri Lankans to add the numbers. So international cricket is just a career option for these people. There is no patriotism here. And such players are even more vulnerable to match fixing.

There are multiple factors in play here. I don't think that the players representing United Arab Emirates get very good salaries. So obviously making some quick money always look attractive for these people.
That is the main reason because as you mentioned the players are not UAE citizens but contracted players and even their captain is playing on a part time contract and majority of them have full time jobs too  Cheesy.

A lot of money is being wagered even on matches involving the associate nations.
I will never dare to wage a bet in these small tournaments as majority of the matches will be fixed and that is the case with any club sporting events

It is a part time career for all the players and only recently they provided some full time contracts to some players, these Arab countries will be the only nations who will be getting a leeway from the ICC to involve contract players to play for their national team.

It is not just the GCC nations such as United Arab Emirates and Oman, but recently teams such as Singapore and the United States have also fielded playing XI in which not a single player was a national. If I remember correctly, they changed the rules sometime during the 2000s. until then, only the citizens were allowed to play for these teams.

The rule change was made under heavy pressure from the United Arab Emirates, as they had to pull out from most of the tournaments due to the lack of Arab players. The only gulf nation that has fielded a team fully comprised of nationals is Kuwait. They sent an all national side for the 2014 Asian Games, which was captained by the 58-year old Mahmoud Bastaki. His son Fahad Bastaki played in the same tournament and 3/48 against Nepal (best individual bowling performance). Mohammed Al Otaibi scored 7 runs in the match against Nepal, which remains their highest individual score.

After looking at such teams and such incidents it sometimes make me feels like some countries are so lagging behind and struggling for their survival in cricket. While in countries like India everyone is dying to become a cricket forget a 58 year old even 28 year old are blamed for fitness issues.

I think bidding on such matches is absolutely dangerous. There are no established teams or players. There is no record of how a certain player has played in certain situation. Moreover the teams could perform absolutely inverse of what they look like on paper. I think only people with a lot of money are gambling on such matches or maybe citizen of these countries themselves.

That was a fun fact, i never knew about Kuwait sending an all national side which was captained by a 58 years old player Shocked, hats off to Bastaki to play at this age for his national team and having a father son duo is rare in cricket, i know how hard it is to play in a club tournament let alone for the national team at that age, much respect but it shows the level of cricket in all of these nations.

If you go to UAE you will see many players from India who played Ranji matches playing club cricket and doing their full time job, not only players from India there are players from Pakistan and other nations too.

Also all those who saying that no TV channel can broadcast these matches live, please go through my TV screen shot.

From what I am witnessing for the past few years, the cricket betting industry has grown quite a bit, and not bets are being wagered on matches involving little known teams (even in tournaments such as the Women's Champions League Twenty20 Cricket Tournament of Nepal and the Shpageeza Cricket League of Afghanistan). And the biggest comedy is that in more than 90% of the cases, the people who are betting on these teams are Indians and not from the countries where these teams originate from.

This is not a new thing, i have seen people betting on the phone during the early 90s and it was a big thing and i was not even understanding the concept of it during that period as they used to bet for specific runs in an over and i was wondering how they used to tell those and one of my friends dad used to predict the amount of runs in an over during those time and they clearly knew when a wicket will fall and only later i came to know that they were all fixed matches and we used to watch the entire match as if nothing is important in life.

Sports (Cricket in particular) Betting has become an industry these days and you will find bets even on the cricket league matches too. Since the introduction of crypto and bitcoin, betting has become easy for anyone. Previously you had to contact the bookie for the bets and it was not save too. Online betting has made every thing anonymous and impossible to track. Cricket is a game which is most popular in Asia and India and therefore you will find more bookies from this part of the world.

I was thinking about placing a bet, but then found out that the ICC had decided not to live stream the matches. And I never bet on matches which are not being broadcast on TV or YouTube.
That's not true. You can watch them on Hotstar and I believe they are telecasted on Star Sports Network if I am not wrong.

Anyone if still have the link of live streaming, please do let me know.

www.hotstar.com - But for watching in Hotstar, you'll need a subscription. So I would suggest you watch in Star Sports Network. And I'm sure that you can find other online sites like YouTube streaming live if you Google it

I think this is because Indians are too obsessed now with cricket and gambling I think the obsession is such that they can't even resist until an Indian T20 season. We all know test matches aren't such great when it comes to quick wagering so maybe they are trying to get hold of every gambling opportunity around the world may it be from associate nations.
~snip
After looking at such teams and such incidents it sometimes make me feels like some countries are so lagging behind and struggling for their survival in cricket. While in countries like India everyone is dying to become a cricket forget a 58 year old even 28 year old are blamed for fitness issues.
If you go to UAE you will see many players from India who played Ranji matches playing club cricket and doing their full time job, not only players from India there are players from Pakistan and other nations too.
Maybe those Indian players who weren't able to get into top leagues even after trying a lot. I think maybe these boards especially UAE might be paying huge sums of money to them for coming and playing for their country.

It is because of the greed to make some quick money and it has nothing to do with the obsession of sports. There are players who spend millions to wage on every match and money line is not the only betting option available, they will bet with every ball and make their money, the big times gamblers will try their best to manipulate the match and we had more match fixing scandals and arrest in the past and now it is hard to manipulate the top teams and hence they will try to manipulate small teams and matches.

Maybe those Indian players who weren't able to get into top leagues even after trying a lot. I think maybe these boards especially UAE might be paying huge sums of money to them for coming and playing for their country.
It is not that easy to get into a team earlier but now things have changed in India and every year there is IPL and if you are good enough you will get selected to play.

Thanks bud. They did not mention will he still be playing in the national team in any format. I did not expect that hard punishments for him. I hope he is still in the squad.

Nope, he's no longer gonna be a part of the team in any format till he proves himself in the domestic leagues; this is pretty much equivalent to getting retired. Lips sealed

Not sure how the locals are taking it but for a cricketer this is very much insulting. They could show him some respect. This was too harsh from my observation. I know he had some very bad times in recent times but things could be more beautiful if they could do something different like let him play without the pressure in his head.

Remember Sachin had this same pressure when he was captain but once he was taken off from the position he got himself back.
