Namibia batted in slow-motion from the start. But I think it is kind of stupid to play so slow in T20 matches. If the Namibian batsmen could have played well from the start, they could have given the Netherlands a huge target. Namibia set a target of 122 for 6 to the Netherlands. However, the Netherlands had to work hard on the field to meet this target. But I think if Namibia could have stayed within 150 runs then Namibia could have won very easily.

Things just got interesting in the T20 world cup. Namibia should have won the match today, but due to poor captaincy they lost 2 points. Gerhard Erasmus, for some unknown reason refused to sent two of his best hitters (David Wiese and JJ Smit) early on. These two came out to bat when 8 balls remained in the innings. And the match was very close and Netherlands won with just 3 balls to spare. Had Wiese and Smit got a few overs to spread their arms, the outcome could have been different. Now they need to defeat the UAE by a big margin.  

They could have retired early or may be pulled out due to tactical decision. I guess there is a provision for tactical retired hurt in T-20 now.

It's literally a crime that David Wiese got to face only 5 balls. In recent times he has an impressive SR in comparison to many batters when batting at death overs.

Sri Lanka batted worse than I expected. They have given a target of 153 runs. They should have collected more than 160. Sri Lanka collected 84 runs in the first 10 overs. But they collected only 68 runs in the last 10 overs. I don't understand why the performance of the Sri Lankan batsmen has suddenly turned so bad.
Sri Lankan bowlers are bowling very well. UAE mustered only 38 runs in 10 overs and lost 6 wickets. UAE has no chance of winning. I won't be surprised if Sri Lanka win by 100 runs

Here we have many members those were giving tag of Dark Horse for Sri Lanka in this event but after having their early performance now they can change their view because here in difficult conditions it's not easy for them specially for their young players to perform like they have done in the UAE but still they have done good job as fight back from early defeat against Namibia as here today I was expecting target like 190 to 200 from them.

But, they fail to impress with their batting which is surely going to be concern for them in coming matches because now they have fair chance for going into next round their last game against the Netherlands is important for both teams, but they have to improve their batting and bring some better positive development if they want to do good target like this is surely not good against team like the UAE which is minor in cricketing world and most chances could be ended with 3 - 0 in this group stage.

This was obviously a very easy match for Sri Lanka. And I think the batting was okay. Not anything special and certainly not something that Sri Lanka is going to brag about I am sure. After all, they played against UAE in this match.

Yes, this was comfortable but I don't think this kind of batting is enough to work against more powerful opponents. I expected them to set a minimum target of 165. They bowled really well from their side, as you can see. No complaints about the bowling department in this match at least.

Only Pathum Nissanka performed well for Sri Lanka. Without him, the score could have been a lot less. I am also expecting any procurement from them especially when they have played so effectively in the last few tournaments.

Now coming into this match against UAE, the pitch was not at all a 190 pitch and you cannot expect teams to score 190 in all the matches, it depends upon the pitch conditions and the size of the boundaries. I expected them to score 160 and placed a bet on that but failed me once again .

If you looked at the odds if you placed a bet above 170 runs in this pitch the odds would be over 3, may be you can try placing that in the next matches  .

So finally we had some predictable results where Srilanka beat UAE and Netherlands beat Nambia. I was shocked to see the matches where Srilanka and West Indies lost to weaker teams in their first match. Let's not forget, the Srilanka are the Asia cup winners for 2022. They should qualify from the round 1 of T20 world cup.

Seeing the table for round 1, it is very hard to predict who will qualify from both groups. I am still hopeful that Srilanka and West Indies will make a comeback but currently, they are badly placed at the points table.

I don't think this will happen. PCB is not in a position to take a stand, especially with our current Anti-Pakistan and Modi-friendly government.
PCB may protest but will agree on a neutral venue which may be none other than the UAE.

UAE, on the other hand, enjoy hosting some of the major tournaments which they would not have held, if there were a Normal relations between Pakistan and India.

We can't expect the pitch to support 190+ runs all the time. Important thing the pitch is always wet as climate in Australia is with little drizzle all the time. In the Match, Netherlands vs Namibia a shot from Netherlands player Singh just wasn't able to make a one pitch to reach the boundary line. He just made a flick and stood without running, later understood and ran two runs.

Yes, if someone knows that there is a risk of death somewhere. Then no one will want to go to those places. There were terrorist attacks centered on sports in Pakistan. Which is a dark chapter in history. There are various types of terrorist attacks in different countries but attacks on cricketers is a very heinous thing. As a result, no one went to play in their field for a long time. Recently they agreed to create positive environment again. But if they can provide 100% security then it must be considered.

Yes, no one will like to go in a battle field when they know death is certain. We know that we can't live forever but will anyone try to jump from the roof top just because he knows he will die one day.

It is the responsibility of the government and cricket board to give security to the players and no one will like to visit places where their life is not safe. That was a bad incident that happened in Pakistan and they paid the price of it in the form of no international cricket in thier country for a decade or so.

Remember that player's life is more important than the sport itself. A player may lose a few dollars by not playing the series but if he lost his life, then everything ends forever.
