Have you bothered to BIOS mod the 5600xt's?  I read you can do a basic 1500 strap mod on them for like 43Mh

I never flash bios.

After tweaking I have them at 40 now it is good enough.

my four xmr rigs are using 3 5600's and 2 5500's

grand totals are 120 + 56 = 176 mh

and 11+11+23+27 = 72 for xmr

these rigs are now making 20-25 a day total they were costly and will take a long time to roi

Maybe a year or more.

they use about 1500 watts no sha 256 gear earns

25 usd for 1500 watts

I will check the gear to get a kwatt reading for all of them

1500 watts is 36 kwatts a day or

7.20 for 20 cent power
5.40 for 15 cent power
3.60 for 10 cent power
1.80 for 5   cent power

If I mine all year round in my garage. they could break even by next September.

I have 2 xmr rigs shut down at the moment I will add a card to each soon.

At that point I will sit back for about 30 days.

I still remember this GT7 Racing boards.

I got 6 rigs up with Sappire RX480s on these board after Phil's successful rig builds back then.

I still have them but need major dusting.

We were hoping that we could use all 7 x PCIs on the board but it wasn't the case.

This was way before we discovered the Onda or Colorful or K35 riserless 6-8 PCI boards.

Well That will be a bit too hard. For now.

Maybe late next week I will order more.

I need to sort the numbers out and take a breather.

I think all bills are paid.

I am getting all my RX480s to hard labor now to max my available power.

My sources in Shenzen shared with me that come November, we may see a sharp drop in hash due to 4GB cards going offline. This should give us enough time to get ready...

If ETH goes ballistic hopefully I can source enough OEM 5700XT on K35s from Shenzen, before the herd comes in.

Think I got myself a partner who will be able to help with liquidities. I'm considering waiting another 6 to 7 weeks to see if 3070 is a better choice than 5700 XT though. Hope I won't be too late to the party.  Embarrassed

Waiting for the 3070 is not a good idea.

You should consider doing 2 rigs

 one with 5700/5600/5500

and then one with 3070 later.

If you are USA based. You can be mining by Tuesday the  8th

buy 2 of these

https://www.ebay.com/itm/biostar-TB250-BTC-D-Pro-Motherboard-Mining-w-CPU-RAM/124292825096?

buy 2 of these

https://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-Nitrogen-Profile-RL-NT09-115X/dp/B01BVC8IVS/ref=sr_1_4?

 buy 2 of these
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Used-AntMiner-APW3-PSU-1600W-Power-Supply-for-Antminer-S9-S7-110V-220-From-USA/264725025433?
 buy 2 of these
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SanDisk-Ultra-Fit-USB-3-0-16GB-32GB-64GB-128GB-Flash-Drive-Thumb-Stick-Memory/202545849718?

that has you ready to do 2 rigs.

155+20+30+11 = 216 and you are ready for cards for rig 1 add 5 cards

1 in slot 1,3,5,7 and a short card in slot 8

easy peasy rig is running in under 35 minutes if you use 1 visiontek 5500 xt and 4 msi 5600 the 5  cards are about  1250

rig does around 188mh uses under 800 watts

then hold the gear for rig 2 and load up on the 3070.

This game is always about hedging.

Go all in on the amd = could be all wrong or all right
go all in on the Nvidia in 7 weeks =  could be all wrong or all right

go 50-50 amd now Nvidia later  = has to be part good. could be both good.

Yes, this is why I jumped in whole hog on new cards, ETH doubling was just gravy. I expect to see a 25-50% hashrate drop.

I am thinking this could last until early january.

just remember that the bitmain eth miner can be upgraded to more ram and mine .

the miner was not very efficient so if they used all the same parts but more ram 🐑 it would not be as good as amd 5700.

i would think they could make one with more ram and more efficient. I would look out for this to occur.

May take until January and wont be done unless mining ⛏ keeps doing well.

This fear of mine has prevented me from really pushing on buying cards.

a decent 5700xt is about $650--$700?

this is far better than our 2017 GPU madness where all of us here guilty buying thousand dollar 1080tis.

Come end of year, I would not want to get caught forced to buy a thousand dollar 5700.

I am regretting not getting a few dozen of that OEM 5700XT under $400 in early August

maybe a mining card version of 5700xt coming soon?

will AMD listen to miners once again?

I am getting all my RX480s to hard labor now to max my available power.

My sources in Shenzen shared with me that come November, we may see a sharp drop in hash due to 4GB cards going offline. This should give us enough time to get ready...

If ETH goes ballistic hopefully I can source enough OEM 5700XT on K35s from Shenzen, before the herd comes in.

According to hiveos statistics around 50% of eth mining gpus are 4gb and about 50% of eth hashrate comes from Asics, let's say that half of those Asics are also 4gb we can expect up to 50% hashrate drop by end of November
