that is a nice size block 8 + eth is good.
how much was the 7.3 gh to buy?
that is about 140 rx 5700
or even more 480's or 580's
It's my farm. I have 26 Vega 64 + 6 Vega 56 64 1080ti and 93 Rx (480 + 580 all 8Gb) Nice farm. Time to look for newer cards here and there. As all are a bit power hungry . I am up to 40 cards right now. looking to get 3 more cards this week. I have 12 1080ti's they have been good to me but are now long in the tooth. I have a couple of 1070 1070ti 1080. All are old So that is at least 15 old cards I have. I have around 5x 1660 or 1660ti. and 20 amd 5000 series soon to be 23 of them.

I see you also have some 5000 series, which ones are better 5700 or 5600? Some says 5600 are better regarding hash/watt

Some says 5600 are better regarding hash/watt tricky but I think I favor the 5600 a little. they are close enough that price per hash can be the decider. ie 40 mh 5600 at 7 = 280 52 mh 5700 at 7 = 364 I do find getting a stable 40 mh is a bit easier then a stable 52mh I am getting 5600 xt for 269 I am getting 5700 xt for 389 I am leaning towards the 5600xt for the 269 they are also a bit easier to cool and crowd in your builds.

if you guys had choice between vega56 or 5600xt where would you put your money? looking at a 6 rig build on vega56 at 295 but 5600xt seem more expensive(vega consumes more power but my situation allows for free power up to 3KW/hr so not a factor) btw, great price on those 5600xt Phil..when ready to share source pls pass on

BIOS flashing & AMD memtweaking. Where as 5600xt are pretty much plug and play 39-43MH/s @75-110w depending on silicon lottery.

thnks for pointing that out(50mh/s vega) was under impression 40mh/s would be ceiling limit. will look into the BIOS flash and memtweak, isnt there a easy option/solution via 3rd party eg..awesome miner etc?

Yeah, but 50 mh/s @200 watts isn't worth it when compared to @39 mh/s @ 90-100 watts on a 5600XT... under equal wattage, that would be @80mh/s for 200 watts worth of 5600XT hashing power... granted you would need two 5600 to get that. if you have 3KW/hr for free. I would go with the 5600XT as you can get more hashing for your power ceiling. this is assuming you don't have either cards and were looking to purchase new cards... otherwise, use what you have.

IMHO, better to invest in the 5600/5700XT because better resale value, BIOS mod gives good results, good power/hash ratio While cost game is important factor, stable rig without any babysitting, lights out operation and can be placed in remote DC/warehouse etc. the 5x00 is worth it. BBT's latest video on 5600XT seems to deliver best performance - check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MghxzsrDFJ4Best Bang for the Buck Mining GPU for Ethereum 5600XT 6GB DDR6 Posted on 1st Sept 2020

"bang for the buck" because the next bang, they'll get banged out of ETH mining and probably other coins too...the saying "you get what you pay for" applies to this one.

Actually, I have to correct you. 4GB cards still haven't been "disqualified" as current ETH DAG is 3.81GB and you can mine with 4GB until end of year. And no, these "6GB" cards will not get "kicked out of the game very soon" as ETH DAG will only reach 6GB in around 4 years (around March if you go by https://investoon.com/tools/dag_size) and that is IF ETH does NOT move to PoS until that time, which it probably will.

I don't think the next gen gear will be a lot better for efficiency.
The 5600xt can do 85 watts and 40mh . In know that is the software number.
But I think a 85 watt card reading 75mh for the software number is further off then you think.
The bump from the 5600xt 's 85w-40mh will be 20-25% tops
so the 6600xt will do 85w-50mh which does not concern me much

Did a quick search 5600 xt was already at 7nm and next gen is still 7nm, so not much. You might be right. The efficiency wars will be set in gddr6 vs hbm2e for amd. Nvidia however is moving from 12nm to 8nm...smaller nm always means efficiency at a significant level. I didn't watch how's the 4gb cards are doing, but my opinion was biased for "almost full vram" when the time when 280x 3gb was almost full but still mining, there was something vram size related that brings the hashrate down due to it becoming "almost full".

Had 1 rig crash a few days ago, Windows 10 machine. Looks like something in the bois. Since I am making 1/15 what I was a week ago (just running Nicehash until everything was stable), figured I would try something different.
Still have spare hardware sitting from 2017, which includes a z370 board. I don't believe the HDD would transfer easily from the dead z270, so thought I would try NicehashOS.
Has anyone used it, any problems or tips?

It should work especially on Windows 10. Just plug in the HDD and windows 10 should boot right up. The only issues I ever had in the past was usually with the LAN and USB drivers. However this was with Windows 7 and W10 might handle this issue better. The issue was that Win7 loads the wrong USB and LAN drivers even though its a different chipset. So basically if you don't want to re-install windows you have to manually find the CD that came with the motherboard and install whichever driver is not working. It seems easy however its a pain because when the USB doesn't work, your keyboard and mouse won't work. So you will need a PS2 keyboard, lucky I got one from my Windows 95 days. If your LAN isn't working then you can just use another computer and download the LAN drivers from the mobo drivers section of their website. Reboot and all should work well.
