Earnings have picked up a bit.

I moved my miners from nicehash to viabtc.

 seems more stable.

of course I have to stack eth rather then convert to btc.

I also have to wait till I reach 1 eth to withdraw it.

I am earning about 1 eth in about 9 days. or 51 usd a day

Still can not find

3070
3080
3090 nvidia cards at stock prices.

Heard some people talking about ETH 2.0 being released. Anyone got an ELI5 what is going on with ETH going POS finally? The ETH thread is very long and hard to follow. Other sources give conflicting information.

Basically I have been waiting 4.5 years for POS on ETH so whenever I hear these claims I take them with a grain of salt. So how accurate is this exactly? Going live in Jan 2021?

You need 32 eth for staking and you can't move them until next upgrade that was supposed to happen in 2021 and mining is not affected, more details here

Ok so from what I understand, you send 32 ETH to some contract and its stuck there until Phase 2 which is sometime after 2 years. You can't withdraw this ETH at all until then. But it doesn't state how much rewards you get for getting this ETH staked?

So I am assuming that the more staked ETH the less rewards for those staked ETH. So people need to make a decision whether they want to hodl their ETH for the long term (+5 years) because with BTC close to ATH and ETH following thereafter it seems like a tough decision if you only got <100 ETH in your possession. Wonder how much ETH will get staked exactly?

There is a calculator on site above about roi but all depends on number of staked eth, more staked eth=less rewards.Personally I don't see why would anyone staked it(besides exchanges/pools/whales) for few % profit per year, you can get that amount of profit from trading

It is an easy choice if you have 100 x 90 a coin eth.

You stake 32  you sell 32 and you hold 36.

Since the coin cost was 100 x 90 = 9000 and you sell 32 for over 14000 you are plus 5000 cash. With 32 held in stake and 36 held liquid.

I AM sure some people are in that spot.

while waiting parking your ETH at Binance (flexible staking) gives your 0.98% (7-day yield)
which you can redeem at anytime.

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Binance does not give you 0.98% per 7 days. It’s 0.98% APY - averaged over 7 days since it can change day to day.

Otherwise it would be insane returns.

Yeah 1% a week before compounding would be pretty nuts. That's like the crazy rates seen on Polo when everybody was margin trading the alts and people were paying 0.5% per day for margin shenanigans. It seems to good which means I should probably avoid it. Even though it's Binance nothing to keep them saying "we got hacked" and losing all your deposit.

APY means per year - it's in the name. You get 1% per year!

The 7 days just means the rate on a moving average (averaged over 7 days), because the rate can change on a day to day basis.

@Philip, if you could pick and choose, which GPUs to buy right now, which ones would it be? I probably have free electricity for about 6 more months and after that would have to sell the cards. Right now, most of my rigs are 4GB cards, so thinking about selling those and the I have two options:
-upgrade to new gen cards - RTX 3080 for example
-upgrade to polaris 8GB for cheap

The first option would be more expensive, but the resale price would be better
The second option would give me a higher hashrate with less capital invested.

I am actually leaning towards the second option - or just holding on to the 4GGB cards and mining whatever is most profitable. But would love your opinion.

what cost are the nvidia. 700 to 800 usd get some.

and keep some of what you have.

try to sell some of what you have.

if you can get 3080’s at proper prices 700 to 800 usd.

sell one to me.😀

ie pretend you have 100 4gb cards.

try to sell 50 of them cheaply and replace with 3080 cards.

This is what I'm doing, replacing 1070s with 3080s when I can find them.  If things be come unprofitable the 3080s should retain their value.  Also nice having less cards.

It almost never all or nothing. Mining is a grinding slow business.

I never sell all old gear.  Just some and replace with new.

I would replace my 1070s with 3080s if I could find the damn things. Looks like I'm going to go more team red this time because nVidia is still a paper launch after 1 month out. I've tried the auto add to cart gpu script but the bots still beat me. People must be sitting by the PC watching for stock to pop up or they must have knowledge of when the stock will be listed on the website. Really takes any joy out of getting new hardware...

The nvidia 3000 launch has been Pathetic.

Not the first time on their part.

the 1000 series was slow

the 2000 series you could buy mostly because the cards sucked.

I am trying to get some 3080s through work - we sometimes buy HPCs and I will see, if my supplier can get me some. But am not confident. Are there any specific models of 3080 I should buy or avoid?!
