i would like to have some s2 mini or something 400-500gh/s and 400-500W Wink
^go out and buy a few antminers to undervolt.  1TH+ is necessary if you are serious about equipment that will run for 6months+
I'm excited about this, but not everyone has the ability to be able to do this.

It will be the tax rate of your country based on the declared value + handling charge of the courier. So for the UK, assuming a Batch 1 declared value of $3,899/£2,360 the fees will be around £480.

of course, i understand that. however, it would not really be in bitmain's interests to start up another R&D plus production line for an S1.5 model.

you can do any of these right now:
Buy 3 antminers and undervolt     =   400GH / 500W / 2.7BTC
Buy 2 antminers and no overclock =   400GH / 800W / 1.8BTC
Buy an antminer S2 unit              =   1000GH / 1kW / 6.3BTC  (sold out, and will take about 10 days longer to receive a batch 2 even if you did order)
Buy 7 antminers and undervolt      =   960GH / 1.1kW / 6.5BTC

personally, the S2 makes sense if you want:
a) included PSU ($200 expense for nice ATX vs $50 if you were modding server gear)
b) fewer cords (1 ethernet and 1 power, verses 7 ethernets for a comparable hashrate of underclocked S1 units)
c) simpler control (1 IP address rather than 7)
d) better density (S1 units can be a bit tricky to stack and have wires going in all directions to the PSU)

I ordered a batch 2 unit, but in retrospect almost wish i went with multiple S1 units instead. REALLY hoping that the S2 can overclock past 1.15TH if given good airflow and an extra 300W

on that note: I would be willing to sell my Batch 2 pre-order at the right price - PM me if you want to offer AT LEAST 6.85BTC for it

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

Has someone developed a method for undervolting the S1? Doesn't this require a hardware mod?

I would ask that Bitmain remembered CE certificate because there may be problems in the EU, the customs office.

klondike, I am starting to regret my purchases of the s2 as well....especially since 2 days later spoondoolies tech went on sale and now I was tapped out. Dam. So I go with an Army of Ants for now. Now I am waiting on "Neptunes" for my Queen Ants to sit on, as my soldier ants sit on my jupiter.

just a pencil mod on R3 (or was it R12?). 8 pencil mods per S1 unit.

but the reality is that underclocking/volting an s1 doesnt make monetary sense right now. In about 2 months it will make more sense if power is a limitation and as power costs begin to catch up to the profit of mining

Hey Bitmain; can we have an idea as for when more Antminer S2 units will be available? It seems all S2 batches are sold out at the moment...

They aren't comfortable doing pre-orders too far into the unknown future. Let them get the ones out they have sold now, get some on the shelf and build up some stock to avoid regressing into pre-order nightmare.

OK I understand but if they are not going to make more S2 units available anytime soon or at least let me know when they will be, I will turn to other competing solutions; I am ready to make a move, like, now.

Suggest you make your move, but be careful there isn't much out there that is real and affordable. Forget Hashfast, Cointerra, BlackArrow, Advanced, Bitmine.ch, all of them are either delayed, incompetent, scams or just full already.

The Chinese Dragon miners 1TH are probably your best bet, they are selling from stock, but its a bit of a leap of faith, a gamble if you like, but thats the only way really. Take a calculated gamble with one of them and see what happens, then if it works out ok keep going.

Ok now this problem happened to me; I have ordered an S1 unit through Bitmain's online system, and the Order expired before my payment could confirm (slow bitcoin network!!!) So now I have paid for the unit but my order is "Expired". So now what - I just wait and someone will realize this mistake at Bitmain and fix it or do I need to contact them?

This slow bitcoin network is a real problem for these online transactions.

This has happened, been posted about, and responded to countless times.

Like every other time this has occurred:  Send Bitmain a PM with the TXID and OrderID just to make them aware of the situation and then sit back, relax, and wait until your unit arrives.

There's a lot of people warning about the Dragon 1TH - I'd only go there with paypal or escrow...

Totally agree about these companies and their questionable "pre-order" policies: I would add Butterfly Labs and their Monarch fiasco to the list of brands not to buy from...
