For many fans Bayern was a big favorite to win this competition, just as Barcelona was a big favorite to win the Europa League.
We all know what happened in the end.
European competitions are very long and difficult, and it's not easy to play every game at a top level.
You can play perfectly all season and then play one game a little weaker and drop out of the competition.

Liverpool will really need to watch out for a surprising result against Villarreal. They shouldn't see this matchup as an easy thing for them. And I have no doubt that they won't too. Liverpool have been playing a really impressive football in the Champions League. They are one of the teams that deserve the title so much. I won't be expecting any big mistake from them in Anfield firstly. In case they get a win by at least a two-goal difference, I will be considering it as an almost guaranteed finale for Liverpool.

I don't think such a thing threatens clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool or Real Madrid. This can be said with some reservations about Villarreal, but I am also not sure that it is fully likely there. I doubt if Manchester United can make it up to champions league  with their recent performance.  They lost to arsenal in yesterday day game and it made them to go down low. The way Manchester United are playing it looks very difficult to predict if Manchester United can come back strong any moment from now.

Many of us underestimated Real this year, I thought PSG would knock them out, especially after the first game! I honestly thought Chelsea had a chance to knock them out, and that didn't happen either! And now the same thing is happening against City...
