The first half looked difficult for Liverpool players to penetrate the defense. It's quite interesting that Villareal was pressed for 40 minutes and still kept Liverpool's players from getting a point. This means that Villareal is in a good position, unfortunately, there is no chance to counterattack. Klopp has to be careful when his players are almost all focused forward and don't realize their back line will be wide open if Villareal can counter-attack.

As I expected, Villareal will be very confident to defend against the attacks of Liverpool players throughout the first half. No goals were scored, it was a great success for the Villareal defence. Back in the second half I thought Villareal were still with their defensive strategy but if Liverpool kept pressing Villareal's defense then I'm sure the defenders would make mistakes. The worst result of the game for Liverpool was a draw, but I believe there was a goal in the second half to win even if Villarreal held on with the whole squad.

Its a 0-0 draw at half time at anfield and as expected it hs been a good compact defensively display from Emery Villareal side; who has created 0 chances this half (why worry though? they defeated Bayern with just 2 shots on target across both legs). Well, it's still good enough for them now, they know they have to defend so they keep almost all of their players at the back.
Like it or not but Emery really wants to make this match a draw because this is one of their goals if indeed he can't make a goal at least a draw without a goal is good enough for them.

Not a boring game per se, but not great either. Liverpool can do little about that, they want to play football and attack, but Villareal is only defending and hopes to get out every now and then via a counter. I also think it's amazing how quickly Liverpool have the ball back every time, Villareal hasn't even scored once. Those are not statistics to be proud of. I watched the Liverpool vs Villareal match, it was quite surprising that the first half without a goal made Liverpool embarrassed because their target was not achieved. That will be an evaluation for Jurgen Klopp in the second half, while Unai may be a little disappointed that his players can't attack at all. I don't think the big score would have been if Liverpool had wasted too many shots on goal but only narrowly beside the post.

Well the first half of the match ended with a no goal from both teams and if you check the match positions Villareal seems to have enough goal chances but failed to convert those chances into goals, I believe Liverpool will have a filled to in the second half and making a possible winning.

Liverpool have being the better side in the first half. At same time I really admire the defensive setup of villareal, they are really active and they are vigilant, their defence is really good, solid and organized and also defending so well. Liverpool is not taking their chances. I think Liverpool should stop been in haste if they want to win the game. Seems Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are being pocketed. They haven’t been giving Liverpool a chance to shoot and it will give them hope to stay on and fight. The match has started and as usual Liverpool seemed to dominate this match from Villareal who tried to defend and focus on the counter-attack. Liverpool's victory seems very likely, but surely Villareal will try their best for a chance of a ticket to the final this season. Liverpool is clearly dominating now, if it goes on like in the first 20 minutes, then we'll see a 2-0 or 3-1 or something in that range. But who knows, Villareal might be lucky and continue to defend nicely.

Villarreal had played their defense well making it difficult for Liverpool to have opportunity to score. The defense was very tight and I enjoyed it their pattern even though Liverpool dominate the match. The second half will tell whether the villarreal defense will contineous or they will push out a little to have a shot.

It is very certain that each team is going to work on thier weakness in the second half and try to balance up their techniques to win the match by all means. I hope Liverpool will put in more effort to score at least two goals in this match cause they have what it takesbto win.

Liverpool have scored twice this continues to frighten Villareal because they don't give chances or lethal attacks, it's like death for Villareal and possession never lasts longer for Villareal so obviously a good goal made Liverpool more aggressive to add another goal.

Wow, I can't believe I'm seeing two goals under five minutes. This is fantastic and unbelievable to see the long awaited beautiful of the match coming out immediately the second half begins. Liverpool have shown that they have everything it takes to get the ball in the post.  How I wish I added this match to my predictions, I will have been in win by now. The match just began, many more fun coming from both team.

No matter how good Villareal's defense was, in the end they made a mistake that put Liverpool 2 goals ahead in a very short time. Villareal's own goal had ignited Liverpool's enthusiasm to score the second goal just 3 minutes from the first goal. Bayern were always favourites for this tournament, Liverpool were a distant 3rd or 4th, but you're right, I'd fancied our chances against them had they progressed past Villareal -- I usually feel we're better against attacking opponents than defensive ones, even if recent results and signings suggest we've found a way to break teams down (as Everton most recently showed) without the old nerves we used to get in seasons past. Fortunately for Villarreal, they were able to hold up and sustain the pressure from Liverpool in the first half but, the case is different now in the second half with Pervis Estupinan to have scored an own goal and in no time, Sadio Mane scored a second to bring the game to a Liverpool 2:0 Villarreal.

So far, its been an all Liverpool game with Villarreal being more defensive and that's so much not the bestbway to go about a fixture with a scoring side like Liverpool. That's not how they @Villarreal sustained with Bayern Munich and in the same way, its not how Real Madrid measured up with Manchester City yesterday. Villarreal have still got some time on the clock but o doubt they would be getting anything out of this game.

Villarreal's plan was to draw the match goalless with full defensive tactics. But Villarreal's defense could not stand in front of Liverpool's experienced players. Although Villarreal's players put up a good fight against Liverpool in the first half, Mane's goal in the 55th minute gave Liverpool the lead. However, as Liverpool lead 2-0. It is easy to assume that Liverpool is going to win this match. Even after conceding two goals, Villarreal is still playing defensive tactics.

Liverpool is so much better than Villarreal for sure and honestly this is kinda like the warm up before the final game against either City or Madrid. 80th minutes right now, Villarreal only has 1 goal attempt so far and Liverpool has 19 lol. I have always say this recently but Im gonna repeat it again, Liverpool is a different beast when they play in Anfield.
