Bayern were always favourites for this tournament, Liverpool were a distant 3rd or 4th, but you're right, I'd fancied our chances against them had they progressed past Villareal -- I usually feel we're better against attacking opponents than defensive ones, even if recent results and signings suggest we've found a way to break teams down (as Everton most recently showed) without the old nerves we used to get in seasons past. Liverpool is so much better than Villarreal for sure and honestly this is kinda like the warm up before the final game against either City or Madrid. 80th minutes right now, Villarreal only has 1 goal attempt so far and Liverpool has 19 lol. I have always say this recently but Im gonna repeat it again, Liverpool is a different beast when they play in Anfield.

I don't really like to compare Liverpool with Bayern at the moment but if we look at Villarreal's defense it is quite good but there are some sayings when a drop of water drips on a stone if only once maybe it will not have any impact but if it is done continuously the longer the stone will fall. in drops it will be more impactful and even destroyed.
Now that this is happening, no matter how strong Villarreal's defense is at the moment when they are under constant pressure of course they will be difficult to contain and the disaster started with their own goal in the 58th minute.

Currently, Liverpool means business after bore first half now they are screwing grip against Villarreal and have 2 goals lead very quickly which ends resistance form visitors and now after having 2 goals ruled out due to offside mean they can feel better but still it's not easy for any team to stay against Liverpool currently most lethal team in Europe.

In second half they are not allowing Villarreal for having any solid attack against Liverpool which is showing strength of Liverpool but still I am expecting one more goal which will settle Liverpool's place into final of this season against winner of other semifinal. Villareal did a great job defending all of Liverpool attacks and in the end it needed an extremely lucky goal for Liverpool to score the 1-0 lead. Henderson wasn't even shooting at the goal but his cross was so massively deflected that it went directly into the goal. That was extremely unlucky for Villareal and it definitely broke their back to day, especially when Mane scored the second goal for Liverpool only a few minutes after that. A clean easy job from Liverpool which I already predict as a finalist.I know that Villareal has made some great turnarounds regarding the result in their return leg when playing at home but that has been against teams of a much weaker level than Liverpool.Liverpool completely dominated this game from every possible aspect and for me only that 68% ball possession says it all about this game.Liverpool is fighting also to win the title in the Premier League but I don't think that will be a problem for them in the Champions League,they just have to see every game as a final.

The great thing in the Champions League this season is that the two strongest candidates for the Premier League will still be fighting for a ticket to the final even though they have won the first leg of their opponent. So now we're just going to focus on the Premier League again for the title race.

The result was predictable from the start and indeed with this result, Liverpool certainly now has the upper hand to advance to the final.
The second leg will mean nothing to them now because it is certain that Villarreal will still be very difficult even if they force open play.

To me, I think Villarreal expectations was cut off, we all saw the way they played today their hope was to win or secure a draw in the match. But it never happened as they expected, though they defended very well in the early first half of the game, but after the break Liverpool came back with a different pattern of play. A deflected Cross from Henderson gave them the lead and that open more way for Liverpool to score the second goal. looking at the game tonight Villarreal made alot of mistakes, though they defended so well but they lose the ball easily and their midfield was empty. I think Villarreal needs to come up with a better pattern in the second leg.

Liverpool winning that game was expected and 2 goals advantage is a good thing to play comfortably without much pressure at the opposite of Villarreal.
Liverpool playing the final game is almost sure. Their rival will be whether City, most likely, or Real Madrid. Well both teams are good and the final match will be unpredictable. For the moment, Liverpool seems to be the fittest team and the dangerous one. Personally I prefer to see City lifting the title.
