I really appreciate Villarreal's rise in the standings this season. I mean they didn't make an impressive start truthfully. They had serious problems for some time within the season. But it looks like they have started to solve the real problems existing in the team. They are quite effective about defending their opponents recently as well. You can understand this easily by their results on the previous four weeks of the league. They played against two tough opponents like Osasuna (A) and Betis (H) for example.

But they managed to leave these matches behind with 4 points anyway. Their performance against Osasuna was very positive as well. They are in a good condition in the standings now and they just need to keep this up more to qualify for a tournament.

I couldn't say Villarreal were able to rise because in the last 8 matches Villarreal have already lose 4 times in Laliga but at least their position in standings league on european zone still safe because they have 5 difference points above to Bilbao but Villarreal will faced hard schedules for next several weeks because as a host they will fight against Sociedad and after that Madrid will be their next opponents and the conditions doesn't really good for them because if we see in the terms of performance stability Madrid and Sociedad clearly better than them

Last season Villarreal were finish at 7th and they have to playing at European Conference League and if we see from Villarreal performance during this season i think possibly they will be repeated their last season achievement with finish at top 7 again

I think when a team already has good results in the local league, then of course they will chase other titles like the Champions League. But if they still fail to win the Champions League title, then at least they can still target the Europa League title. I don't think the loss to United was "planned" or an acceptable result for the club - it's pretty shameful to be kicked out of the Champions League group only to be kicked out in the Europa League for the right to play there. Xavi has been talking about the Europa League for the second year in a row ("it would be nice to win it"), but again he fails. They have the La Liga title this year and for that reason alone, the season cannot be considered a complete failure, but I'm not sure if it will be enough for Xavi to hold in his place in the summer.

I believe that we shouldn't really be considering any wins that Barcelona has been any luck or anything. I feel like the best thing to do is consider that they are just too close to each other but looking at the league and even the league game result, Barcelona is a better team this year. Xavi has really turned this club around and the team is not like a full "team", its bunch of players put together, they are individually great but they are not even a team yet, and he will build into that slowly but even right now they look better.

So, any game they have do not look like that's a luck, it looks like we are talking about a better team and they can win the next game as well.
