Even in the last years, I remember Barcelona had good midfielders but they didn't have very good forwards and their team was not dependent on the forwards they have, they usually score goals by using the midfielders they had.
This season Lewandoski was a good performance but I think if Barcelona wants to hire new players they definitely need to hire a young forward to take his place for the next season.

I remember last season Barcelona really struggled to score goals before Xavi came. But after Barcelona signed Xavi then some players like Dembele and Aubameyang really made a good impact in attack. Barcelona's number of goals increased and they became more confident about winning the title even though in the end they had to be quite satisfied with ending in second place. Xavi tried to sign Lewandowski, it turned out to be a great signing for Barcelona and he proved that with a top scorer in his first season.

This season Ferran and Ansu Fati haven't had much to contribute to Xavi's attack, but both have become important players when others have been out injured. Dembele, Lewandowski and Raphinha are Xavi's main players in attack, so their lack of competitiveness is the reason why Ferran and Fati are often on the bench.

Atletico Madrid finished this season right behind Real Madrid by only a one-point difference. This might be seen like a successful season for Atletico Madrid by some people maybe but I don't see it like that at all. Because their general performance during the season was really unsatisfying. They couldn't gather themselves up for a long time which led to their being out of the La Liga title race early.

Apart from that their Champions League performance was even worse than last season. Because they had a horrible group stage and finished it even in last place. They finished the season without a title also. When we think all about this it is just meaningless for me to believe that they were good just because they climbed the places in the La Liga and earned a ticket for the Champions League.

There is a big need of change in this team. I hoped to see it starting with Simeone's getting sacked this summer but it doesn't seem like it will happen. I guess that he will stay until the end of his contract - June 30, 2024.

I wouldn't say "top players" to be fair. So far the three biggest names that went there were Ronaldo, Benzema, Kante and that's it, I do not think that there are any more famous players than this three, doesn't mean better, just not more famous.

Ronaldo went there after he couldn't find a proper team that wanted him, not like there were any offers and he just decided to go there, he was forced to because there were no other proper teams that wanted him. At the end of the day, Benzema is 35+ years old as well, so he got a bit old and there were no other chances he would make this kind of money, so he took the chance and he did all he could at Madrid, not like this dude would be a great player for long, he is old now.

That wasn't Xavi's fault even though I don't really know how good a coach he is. But when Xavi took on the responsibility, Barcelona was kind of falling apart and went through major changes that now need time to take effect. There is no doubt that Lewandowski's performance last season was very good. His fitness is good enough and he has been playing consistently well. He has become the highest scorer in the La League. It is expected that he will be able to play well in the next season as well. But Xavi should strengthen his midfield. If the midfield cannot be strengthened, Xavi will not be able to maintain good performances in the Champions League and La Liga.

Personally, I want to see a more explosive performance from Robert Lewandowski for Barcelona. There is no doubt that he is capable of doing better. But I would also like to see Barcelona have a backup plan in place if he does not perform. I know that right now Barcelona has a lot of problems regarding the fact that they do not have enough money to bring in a players who will definitely be very good.

I guess Barcelona will have to make do with what they have. But in the next season, Barcelona will have problems if they go with the same plan that they did this season in my opinion. Because I believe the other clubs will figure out how to counter Barcelona.

Winning a title in the domestic league never guarantees that a team can succeed in the Champions League or the European League, at least teams like Bayern Munich, for example, who dominate the Bundesliga, cannot guarantee good results in the Champions League. Therefore, because Xavi cannot make Barcelona have the same good performance and results, it will certainly make it difficult for Barcelona to return to promise in the Champions League. What was Spanish football this season? It was such a strange campaign for the country that I can’t really put a finger on it. FC Barcelona won the league dominantly but could not even get out of their Champions League group, and Real Madrid struggled in the league but managed to reach the Champions League semi-finals. Sevilla and Atlético Madrid both were essentially mid-table to relegation candidate clubs during the first half of the season only to completely turn it around after January. There is so little separating teams because of their completely opposing forms across periods of time and competitions. Let’s try and split them anyway.
