Not yet decided. The community will make the decision based on the situation. Nobody wants early clones.

I think open source as a marketing tool is essential. Without a code review people worry about how safe their money is.

I believe nobody wants to publish source too fast. It's better to wait till Qora is well known enough so clones won't hurt it.

I would go further and suggest the community votes for the code to be checked over by a number of trusted third parties. Open source made sense in the Bitcoin era but not anymore. Blindly doing something because it is the 'done thing' is not smart. The fact is the only people who want the source and will be complaining on here that its not released are those hoping to make a quick clone.

Sensible people will vote for a new way of doing things. We need experts to look at the code not cloners...

At the very least an expert check when the coin has gained some maturity and then a health long gap to opensource. I'm talking a year or more.

I believe clones work for original. When IPOs like Nfd gather 2000 people around it most of them become aware that it's a fork of Nxt, so Nxt's popularity grows.

It's a valid viewpoint but we can't really know if it benefits beyond a bit of PR and a possible price bump cause we haven't ever experienced the flip side where there is are no clones of a major new coin. And who knows NEM might overtake NXT, it's possible. I just know there are people just itching to make a scammy clone that makes it worth their while to then to go on a campaign to FUD all over Qora.

At least lets be cautious especially as Qora said it's dead easy to clone. Even NXT put some road blocks up like asking people to find flaws in code.

Version 4 is now available!

Changes:
- Now connects to the peers in settings first instead of last.
- When a name ends on a space on the name exchange it will now show a '.'
- When doubleclicking on a name in the name exchange it will show the correct name.
- Database has been changed to the latest version + some other small things. (This may or may not have any effect).

Another small glitch, my addresses are not displayed on v4 accounts window since restoring from seed..they showed up initially but not after close/reopen...they dissappeared?? (Edit: closed from command ^C)

People running a node will have this problem:
After a few hours the application will stop doing anything but will not crash either.
It will stop sending any messages over the network and does not want to close when you try to.

To run the application I use this command:

sudo nohup java -Xmx1024m -Djava.library.path=libs/native -jar Qora.jar -disablegui

To accept more connections then the default 20 add an extra line to your settings.ini

Closing from command line will make changes to the database not commit.

I first overwrote v4 over my v3 installation, it didn't work, said 'can't open the database'.
Had to do a new install of v4 and restored wallet from the seed, that worked like a charm.

Question: will there be a simple overwrite kind of upgrade in the future, so that the database doesn't have to be synced each time?

Hi qora,

I'm afraid I have a problem. On may 16th (day of launch), I had successfully registered 5 names using V1 client. I just upgraded to V4, and all of my names are gone.    I did the upgrade by recovering all my wallets using my seed.  I was out of town this weekend, so I didn't install V2-V3.

Is there any way I can recover those names? I wish no one had taken them from me.
