Good luck.

I might join you on a block run sometime in the future,

I just need to get my head into how it all works before I commit to it.

Pretty easy.

People send the same share of BTC to Willi. With these deposits, he is renting hashpower (in general 20 ph/s) and send the hashrate to ck solo pool.

If you aren't lucky, you lose your share and that's all, If you are lucky, the block reward (+ fees which are pretty interesting actually!) is shared between all participants.

I want to mention that Willi is a reputable, active and honest member of this forum. He always paid everyone, even with a block of +300k usd. We found a block at Blockparty #30 and he sent the reward to each of us. He even kept aside one share of the reward and waited more than 2 months (if I am not wrong about the delay) the confirmation of an absent member, to be sure to pay him to a valid and updated BTC address.

Some other member are proposing the same idea but with smaller amounts (I mean smaller deposits needed to participate), but have no background about paying the members in case they hit a block. I personnaly chose to trust them and participated to some runs, but it is at your own risk.

May I ask why it was said that the website provides small miners and large farms, with difficulty levels of 10K and 100K, but the small miners are not from 1K or below?
 Huh

At present, even renting an S9 has been running for almost a day, and the 10K has not been eliminated, and there is no actual share output.
Do other small miners have this kind of problem? Huh

You could always use the --suggest-diff option, but only if you use cgminer software. (minimum 1)

It is strange to not have at least 1 valid share over 10k with a S9 in 24 hours to be honest.

Are you sure of the BTC address you used for mining ? Are you sure too of the pool url you used ?
Are you renting with MRR or NH ?

Yes, so the point of contradiction is that when small miners are renting with limited resources and funds, and the other party’s software does not support the difficulty, in the mining pool where people participate, when the difficulty is higher than the initial one, they cannot output shares at all. Is it slow in time? What about slow loss, will the average remaining small miners encounter problems?
 Huh

Long time reader, but wanted to give others hope who may be working with limited resources  Cheesy

24/7 S9 with a single board (lol) in low power mode venting to attic in my office closet upstairs at 5TH for three years (using a retired K&N car intake filter for the inlet with a 3d printed funnel mount, temps sustain 85C - 90C)
Nightly T15 runs hooked up to a 240V BDT-1C timer in open air in the laundry room with a 240v splitter at 22TH for six months (temps NHT 83C)

Never give up, never surrender! Keep mining!

It's case by case. Most of the time the hashrate will appear on your worker's page quite quickly, as most software does not have a problem with this. 10k is a very low difficulty by the way.

I don't know where you rent your hashrate, but in the future, you can always rent it via Nicehash and set the desired hashrate low, it's up to you how much hashrate you want and for how long depending on your BTC deposit.

I don't like Nicehash's team and don't like to promote them, but overall they are cheaper than MiningRigRentals, and we have never had any trouble sending hashrate to solo.ckpool via their service.

Thank you very much for the explanation, but the minimum rent for nicehash is 0.001, and MMR can be used for flexible equipment transfer for small miners within a very low capital time, especially in the case of network disconnection or other conditions that cannot output shares, continue to explore and learn

Some of you may not be aware, but I've been contacted by Futurebit to assist them in getting solo mining built into their standalone miner/node hardware. I've been updating the solo ckpool code to make it more generalisable and work properly with the latest stable version of bitcoin core and on the testnet and regtest networks. Going forward, the solobtc code is the only ckpool code I'm planning on updating and maintaining. This is not going to replace this solo pool, as the dedicated hardware in a high speed low latency data centre is still a better choice for minimising the risk of orphan blocks, but the idea is that anyone should be able to mine solo locally as either their final fallback, or by choice. This could act as an important safeguard to preserve bitcoin mining in future should there be coordinated attacks on the major pools out there. The code is freely available and not confined to use by Futurebit alone. Even if other manufacturers decide to take the GPL code and illegally fork their own version of it without providing source code as they have done with cgminer, it will still be a net positive.

Although I don’t know much about it, it should be able to help many people in the future. When I looked at the cgminer version introduced by my predecessors, it seemed that there was no development and available binary executable files. It was only in 2018. I just don’t understand the reason for stopping the development. I believe these powerful ones people will work it out

There was nothing to develop, all the mining hardware they were doing their own versions of cgminer and drivers in house. There remained no reason to maintain a general version that worked on all hardware - nor was there any way to write drivers for their hardware with their closed systems.

I see this as an extremely positive thing! I was not aware of this.
Just by reading some of the topics on this forum we can see that there is a demand to mine solo on our own end via our bitcoincore's node for some people. This will avoid some possible mistakes doable by unexperimented users, as your knowledge and skills are bigger than the vast majority of our own.

I think it's really good that you decided to continue to maintain solock pool as it works extremely well and offers those (like me) who are worried about losing an orphan race if one day they have the chance to find a block, a form of tranquility thanks to its performance.

Once again, I don't know if it motivates you or not to read posts from randoms on this forum, but I sincerely want to thank you for the time and work you're providing for the pool and for the people who don't want to see solo mining die out soon.

Every solo mined block is a net positive gain for Bitcoin and its network, plus your pool has already offered me a lot of fun, as well as the chance to win some interesting rewards.

Some people rotate their mining addresses so you may never get to know exactly how long they've been mining.

Do they change management for any reason?

I had not taken this into account.
Sometimes it's for privacy reasons, sometimes they do it for luck reasons since miners tend to be superstitious, and sometimes it's just for practical wallet management reasons.

here are the next Blockparty Run 39
The DE and EN Main topic is here --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5454076.0

##################

Hello all,

let's go to the next group buy from Hashingpower.

As already requested by some forum users I put a new group buy for solo mining. Start at the earliest after the next diff reduction.

~15-18 users for each 0.005 BTC, 0.01 BTC or more BTC can participate. A higher number is not useful, otherwise a possible profit will be much too small.
If smaller amounts than the minimum amount are allowed in a single case, then the calculation of the rewards will be based on the amount of BTC deposited.
Hashingpower is rented on Nicehash and shot on the solo pool.
The status of the group run can be observed during the runtime via the Live View link.
Here you can see what our hashingpower is and what our highest share / bestshare is.

If a block is found, the reward will be paid out to the participants.

Lets go and let us find a block

In the past we had found 10 blocks --> 196 BTC!
Block list: 385022, 394940, 394946, 395087, 396941, 399709, 401934, 706369, 712217, 780525

Those who want to participate send their BTC to the following address bc1qlpd45688hce39lusur8sdnuzy3z2dx4uvrgpkt and post their participation with the following template:

Please send your coins only if there is still a place available.

To make it a little easier in the new year, I've decided to do the reservations differently.
In the new year there are reservations possible for people who pay for 2, 5, 10, ... block party runs in front.
If the quota is exhausted, the place will be automatically free and someone else can use the place.

Specifically, we start with the Blockparty Run 2022-1 and if someone sends 20x 0.01 BTC at the first time, he is practically permanent until the Blockparty Run 20.
If someone joins the Blockparty Run 2022-7 and sends 10x 0.01 BTC, he will be a member until Blockparty Run 17.
This simplifies the organization and places are not permanently taken by the same people, unless someone sends 50x 0.01 BTC for the 50 planned Runs.

If we should not create at the end 2023 the Runs, for which someone already paid, the last Run in 2023 all payments are used around longer to run.

As long as open slots are available the coins can be sent at any time without an OK from me

Of course there is no guarantee that we will find a block, but it would be mega if we repeat the runs until we find one!
Should something happen like: Nicehash account hacked, deposit address in forum post hacked, BTC sent to a wrong address, etc. no compensation for the loss will be provided. Everyone takes this risk or does not participate in the block party if they do not agree with it. However, I assure that everything will be done with the highest care as before.
