Hi everyone! Just wanted to share a helpful resource related to ckpool stats. You can check the UI here : https://cpool.org . Hope you find it useful!

I'm enjoying this UI extension to CKPool.

I've noticed a few interesting anomalies in the total pool data, particularly apparent large dropouts in hash rate.

At 6:12am to 6:32am dropping from around 650PH/s down to 1PH/s and again at various times with a big drop-out between 9:22am and 10:32am

I wonder whats causing that?

Thanks

G.

Yep, fixed the issue (plotting of values on the chart was incorrect).

Sharing some recent thoughts; this price dip and dump of corn from grayscale makes it a perfect time to be solo mining. I think it's possible that global hashrate could drop a bit more with this price action/moderate downtrend. Mining rewards have plummeted. Fred Theil (CEO of Marathon) did an interesting interview recently, talked about margins for larger scale mining ops, and how this industry will have to evolve. Some of the big farms need bitcoin above 55k to be profitable. So they're ok now for the most part but I think it's definitely worth watching what happens with the difficulty.. currently have a small amount of hashrate dedicated to ckpool. But if it drops I will point a couple hundred th here. Final thought is that I think the price rip will happen at some point just not anytime in the next couple months if grayscale keeping offloading their dog of a product. Let's go out and hit a block

No, it was 0.5EH. Their hashrate fluctuates but averages about 0.5EH.

Workers don't mean much, even at 60PH it's a cluster of  smaller mining hardware mining through a proxy, but their overall hashrate is all that matters. 0.5EH total  is a massive mining entity.

Some quick Maths for fun, because we like #'s.
This current Hash whale is pumping ~400 Ph.
This would take about 3.750 S19 Machines.
Consuming about 12.418.500 watts.
@$0,10 USD for electric can generate about 13k USD profit/day, after the ~30k/day in electricity to run.
So they would need to smash a block every week to stay profitable.
Interesting I would say.

Yes, the power usage is quite frightening.

Just an oddball thought, the number of minable BTC is finite isnt it, what happens after they've all been mined?

Where will be the incentive to keep processing block data?

I would assume fees would take over and big farms may vanish.

I always wondered if bitcoin will come back to the home miners in future.

Never say never!  Wink
