French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1)

For months, Lens looked like they could maybe have a chance to win, but now they are looking like they have no chance at all. I get that it may not be that great of a situation at the end but we are talking about something that will not be an easy week for them at all.

They lost last week and got a tie this week which allows PSG to already have four points ahead, and that's not going to close down anytime soon. Lens even lead the league for a long time, but now it looks like it's all over. PSG will just focus on UCL like you guys said.

We can't expect any other team in Ligue 1 to break Paris Saint-Germain's dominance, winning the title is already a tradition for the Parisian team. I've often said in this topic that Ligue 1 is for Paris Saint-Germain & when Paris Saint-Germain don't win the league, it means they're unlucky. Just look at the list of Ligue 1 champions and you'll see.

Back to Lens, I think what they've achieved now is an achievement. The last two seasons they struggled to even qualify for European competition. This time, they're in that spot & in the next season, we'll likely see this underdog team play in the UCL or UEL.

Last year, especially after the playoffs, Paris Saint-Germain went into unbeaten mode. They eliminated all the Premier League teams one by one, reaching the final. In the final, they experienced a historic 5-0 victory against Inter. Will we experience something similar this year? Paris Saint-Germain is still very strong and will continue this performance. Right now, their first obstacle seems to be Chelsea.

This discussion is supposed to happen in the Champions League thread but nevertheless, since it involves a team from France namely; Paris Saint Germain, it's still worth discussing here. For the fact that PSG was favored after the playoff round in last season's Champions League games do not mean that same thing will happen this season, they are to face Chelsea, which is a Premier League team, i think that Chelsea knows what PSG did to the Premier League teams they met in the Champions League games last season which will make them to be very careful so that PSG would not eliminate them at the round of 16, though i expect PSG to win at their home while Chelsea win at their own home too, the goal aggregate will determine who will advance to the quarter finals.

You're right, in fact, when one thinks, or when I think, about French football, only PSG comes to mind, simply because it's the most representative team of France The other teams are good, but not good enough to stop PSG, and that's something the French need to improve because PSG sets the bar very high A similar investment to PSG's is needed for them to improve, I think.

There is a possibility that PSG will only win the Ligue 1 title as their most prestigious trophy this year, because as you said, their performance is inconsistent this season, they have had difficulty finishing the game with a win several times, I don't know what happened, but their game still looks as good as last season, it's just that the effectiveness in finishing every chance is not good at all this season. And one important thing why I say this is that in the UCL they had a difficult path to reach the semi-finals.

Although Monaco was able to hold PSG down to 10 men in the previous match, the result could be different this time around, with Enrique likely to employ a more effective strategy to counter a Monaco side that is likely to play defensively. I think PSG can still win this time around as they need three points to move above Lens. If they fail to win, it would be embarrassing, as they are playing at home and there are high expectations for them to secure the win.

Enrique doesn't seem to me to be a careless coach or one who doesn't know what he's doing. He's certainly thought of a technique to apply to this match, even though it seems like Monaco will play a lot in defense, at least that's what's predicted, but now we need to understand if they can do more than what they're doing.

After watching PSG against Monaco in the Champions League it's difficult to pick PSG to win Monaco without considering the outcome of their last meeting in the champions League. With 10 men Monaco still got a draw with PSG though PSG qualified ahead of them due to goal aggregate, the best options for them which be both teams to score since they scored each other in their last two meetings. Over 2.5 option won't be bad too but giving PSG a direct win is what I don't support.

They won't push too hard in this match, if they score a goal they'll slow down the tempo.

I don't doubt PSG at home. I see good potential in them and expect them to be very aggressive. However, Monaco's recent form could be a threat to PSG. Comparing the statistics of the last 5 matches, I see Monaco in a better position than PSG. PSG are the favorites to win the match due to the home field advantage and the depth of the team, and PSG can't afford to drop points now to stay ahead in the title race. Lens are behind them, not too far away.

This is a very tough game. Anyways, let's see what will happen because bothsides can simply handle each other well. This is a very important game and mostly, Chelsea fans are counting on their team to do the wonders again as they did in the club world cup. When the whole world watch them thrash PSG 3 nil in the final. History can repeat itself again and this time it will be in the UEFEA Champions League.
