French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1)

PSG played well and managed to win against Barcelona but let's be honest, if PSG faced Real Madrid or Manchester United or even Arsenal in both legs, the result will be very different. Barcelona red card impacted the game a lot but it wouldn't be the only cause of the defeat. Barcelona is weaker than what used to be and the advantage they have in term of goal difference weren't used as it should be.
We will see the next team that PSG will face to get a better view whether they can play the final game or not.

I agreed here partially because I also feel Barcelona is weaker side and red card having big impact on their performance in rest of the match which allow PSG to win with good difference and qualify for the semifinal of the event with now they are going to face Borussia Dortmund which is also good side but for me here now PSG having better chance of qualifying for the final because they are having good performance against them, and they can win this round as well.

In early 30 minutes of the game, we have good control for the Barcelona, but suddenly they lost their momentum and also lead of the two goals which allow PSG and Luis Enrique to dismantle and win this game by big margin I was having impact about PSG is one of the weakest sides in this round, but they achieve good result and now things are well-balanced for them to go for the final.

I don't think as like you. It is true that the PSG team is a bit behind compared to Manchester City or Madrid. However, it cannot be said for sure that PSG will lose against these teams. We saw a few years back when the Chelsea team won the Champions League title. Chelsea were a mediocre team. Even then, this team won the Champions League title by surprising everyone.

PSG team is not as strong as City or Madrid. But right now I can't say that PSG have no chance of winning the title. PSG played very well in yesterday's match against Barcelona. PSG's match strategy was very good. With the help of Luis Enrique, this team is now very stable. So PSG also has a chance to win the title.

I think when Chelsea won the Champions League twice of course at that time they were no longer considered a mediocre team, because as I recall, when under Abramovich's ownership, Chelsea have turned into a strong team in the league and even then they had a pretty fantastic squad, so it would be wrong to say Chelsea at that time was a mediocre team that surprised a lot of people.  For now, in terms of squad, of course PSG and Manchester City are almost equal, but in terms of a winning mentality, of course we cannot compare the two teams.

To be honest, I didn't watch this match, but I predict that Lyon will win the battle between these two teams. and yeah, Lyon beat Brest with a score of 4-3. automatically, Lyon rose to 7th place in the Ligue 1 table. This refers to the last goal scored by Lyon from the penalty spot. the Brest goalkeeper should not have made a fatal mistake, so the referee gave Lyon a prize which made them win this match.

For the ones who saw how bad Lyon performed in the first part of Ligue 1, I mean in 2023 then he would definitely back Brest which is sitting in the second spot.
If we analyse deeper the situation then we will see that Lyon made the best progress among all teams in Ligue 1, top 4 teams included. They won most of their matches and continue to climb in the ranking. Best they could do is to get to Europa League next season or at least Conference League..

When Lyon was behind with a score of 1-3, then I thought it was over for Lyon to win this home match against Brest. But after all, Lyon still has great abilities because Lyon managed to score two goals back to equalize the score at 3-3. But indeed, in the 90+ minute Lyon were awarded a penalty kick and what was even better, Ainsley Maitland-Niles actually succeeded in executing the penalty kick into a goal. With this victory, Lyon is getting closer to finishing in the top six and of course, it would be extraordinary if Lyon finally managed to finish in the top six. Because yes, I think it's clear that Lyon really started this season very badly but yes, with the great efforts that continue to be made by changing coaches too, in the end Lyon really got out of the relegation zone.

We have one of the best game from the Lyon in this season while they are now coming to the top which is impressive run from them after having worst ever start of the season in second half of the season until now they are best team in Ligue 1 with their performance and this match was clearly showing how challenging are now they are to beat with few more results like these can give them ticket for the European Competitions because we have the worst performance from the Lens and Nice in last few games which are giving them benefit.

In game against Brest, we have 7 goals and 10 cards with 2 red cards which are surely amazing stuff for the all fans after 90 minutes while match was at the score of 3–3 I was expecting points for both sides but 105th minute goal give Lyon full three points and good win in this match against top team like Brest.

With that ter Stegen could have intervened and stopped the attack or at least would have had a good chance to defend the ball as Barcola was hardly going to have the time for a concentrated attempt at that speed.

But still I think that PSG had good chances to win the game anyway as they were in full control even before Barcelona scored the first goal. Now they have great chances to get into the final as Dortmund isn't the strongest opponent.

Barcelona played above expectations this season and I think they deserve congratulations. Araujo's early red card broke the whole order. He has problems with this. That 4-1 win is really big however I'm curious about how it would end if there wasn't that red card.    The reason why I wonder it is that they were 1-0 behind before that red card.

PSG must be able to focus on the Champions League more comfortably normally as they are in safe condition in the Ligue 1 for the title. The other teams near PSG in the Ligue 1 are rather fighting for capturing a Champions League spot now you know. It would be really nice to see Brest there as well.

I agree with you because in a critical check of all these things, you will agree with me that Barcelona actually did their best and PSG owe their victory to Barcelona's red card els i doubt if they would have been able to really get such resounding victory over Barcelona considering how they were won in the first leg were Barcelona actually had their goals very early at the beginning of the game in the first half.

Arahjos red card didn't affect Barcelona so badly because he was a very vital player but because it was a game that had enough pressure already and they were playing from home so they couldn't cope well with the pressure exerted on them to win with a man down, i feel their mentality, morale and confidence was actually in a .was and they just couldn't help it as it got to them and even in their performance they literally did showed that they were seeming to accept loss even before they lost, PSG on the other had need to be applauded for proper and adequate use of the opportunity they got.

It was actually very possible they would have been unable to do anything with that opportunity that was been given them in that game and then they would have still lost and not been able to proceed to the semi finals because if Barcelona had three goals in that game they would have definitely qualified while PSG would have crashed out of the champions league but then they made sure to score more goals while they conceded less goals.

Barca experienced a huge defeat infront of their fans and this is really disappointing as it comes in a time that the club is in a trying time financially. Also at this stage, the club is also experiencing a hard time in trying to talk Xavi to still remain in the club and this loss comes as a big one for the club.

 Now the club is out of the UCL which could have helped the club be able to raise some finances should incase the need for hiring a new coach arises. This frustration could linger on and probably affect the club’s performance over the weekend if the club’s management doesn’t handle the situation well.

I think it has nothing to do with ownership, I mean of course Abramovich definitely made that team better, but that doesn't mean that current ownership is not trying, they are trying their very best and putting all their money into it, look at how much they have spent already and they are still not doing great.

I think that type of problem is not regards to ownership, because what owners could do right now would be something that could benefit that and should be something that betters in the end. I believe that manager has more to do with their situation and I believe that they are not doing well but Ted has nothing to do with it, he is trying his very best and he is doing whatever he can to make that team better.

PSG have secured a place in the semi-finals and later they will face Dortmund to reach the Champions League final, for now of course PSG no longer have the burden after locking a ticket to the semi-finals and certainly they will be more focused on maintaining their performance in Ligue 1, although now PSG's position has been very secure in Ligue 1 but I think they will certainly still chase victory to be able to celebrate the championship Ligue 1 is faster this season.

I don't think we can say if PSG will be favourites to win the UCL, because I think PSG's victory in the second leg is inseparable from the red card obtained by Barcelona in that match, so it benefits PSG to beat Barcelona and I think if Barcelona still play with 11 players it is certainly not impossible for us now to see Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals.
The championship competition has long ended for other teams in Ligue 1, so now other teams in Ligue 1 are only to competing for a tickets Champions League next season, while the Ligue 1 trophy competition has long been only a dream for other teams besides PSG.

Superstars alone can't win the game if the rest of the team doesn't play well. Remember, football is a game of 11 men against 11 men, not 3 - 11. PSG didn't win with superstars because whole team wasn't performing well together. Messi's transfer was more likely a marketing attempt to be fair.
Btw you don't need superstars to win the game. Bayern Munich didn't have any superstars but was always beating Barcelona like it was a team of beginner players. PSG doesn't have superstars except Mbappe that are at Messi's and Neymar's level but it's still full of very talented players. I like Dembele very much, he is one of the most amazing universal winger that I have ever seen and he played a huge role in PSG's winning yesterday and scoring in the previous match.

Actually I no that PSG has been doing really well on this French league and there is no any other club that can easily challenge them on the French league trophy but one thing we must know is that champions League is far tougher than this French league and the clubs on the champions League are mostly those clubs that are more experience than PSG, however I agree with you that their match between Borussia Dortmund could turn out on their favour but nothing is certain for them, so the best thing PSG can do now is to ready all their players so that their would not be any mistake on that match because any little lapses could result them on losing the match just like in the case of Barcelona.

Mbappe, as PSG's mainstay player, is definitely more confident in being able to help PSG win a prestigious title this season before he leaves PSG.
All the players will definitely feel very proud and have very strong confidence in being able to overcome the obstacles that Dortmund will present.
This a great opportunity for PSG to really take advantage of the best opportunity to win the Champions League title and I think this will be a historic season for PSG.

Yes, that's right, it looks like if Barcelona still plays with 11 players, it lookslike PSG will also fail to comeback in that second leg. Because after all, Barcelona also managed to score a quick goal in the first half but unfortunately, because Barcelona played with only 10 players, then this factor really caused Barcelona to be destroyed in that match. But yes, because in fact PSG managed to qualify for the semifinals and PSG will play against Dortmund, it is very likely that PSG will be able to beat Dortmund in the semifinal match. Because atleast, PSG clearly has better quality compared to Dortmund and therefore, for now I believe PSG still has a good chance of qualifying for the final match.
