At this moment, I don't think it's debatable again that Paris Saint Germaine are going to retain the French league title at the end of the season. Marseille started the league campaign on a very good note which made many of us to start considering them as a strong contender for the league title this season but unfortunately for them, they couldn't stay consistent enough to give PSG a good run for their money. Their defeat at Auxerre over the weekend came as a surprise to me because but I think it was Derek Cornelius' red card that aided the home team to win that game. At the moment, I think the best Marseille can do is to fight to maintain their current position in the league table so they'll be guaranteed UEFA Champions League football next season.

It is impossible for any team to meet up to them now because the point gap is more than 10 points and no team is  in a better form than them at the moment. They have been on a winning streak for a long time and it is as if no team can challenge them in the league, no team is consistent enough to keep up to them with the form they are in this season. We all thought Marseille could challenge them with the way they started the season but they couldn’t keep up. One thing I don’t like with this Ligue 1 is the fact that no other team can maintain consistency from the start till the end and it’s almost as if it is only PSG that can win the title.

Everything seems to be working really well for Luis Enrique and the only time they have slipped up was in the Champions League group stage but somehow luck seem to be on their side too and they have cruised past Brest to qualify to the knockout round of the Champions League. They are currently 13 points away from second place Marseille in the league, played twenty three games already without a loss so their is a huge possibility that they can play the remaining thirteen without losing any if they stay focused.

They are really on a different level now and even with Mbappe Neymar and Messi they don’t look as good as they are now. I don’t know if it is the caliber of players they have now because everything looks to be going smoothly and their mode of attack this season is more effective. Seeing unserious Dembele as the highest goal scorer is really surprising considering how unserious he was back in Barcelona.

So, PSG's win in the play-off round is not an impressive result at all, because if it's about Ligue 1 teams then of course, PSG will always succeed in getting good results.

It was wrong for Marseille president Pablo Longoria to state that the French League referees are corrupt and the matches are planned and rigged. Losing a match because of a red card is not an evidence that the entire league is corrupt. If  Marseille thinks that referee Jeremy Stina's decision to show defender Derek Cornelius a red card was wrong, they should have sent a petition instead of discrediting the entire league.

This is what the teams in Ligue 1 do not have because they are less competitive with PSG as one of the strongest teams. Even to beat PSG's dominance can hardly be achieved by any team currently in Ligue 1 because in terms of the quality of the players they have, they are far below the standard of players owned by PSG.

The only hope for the teams below PSG is fighting to qualify for the Champions League and currently the competition is much more interesting between Marseille, Nice, Lille and Monaco because the four teams have a fairly close points difference to compete to secure a position in the Champions League zone.

When one team has a multiple of the financial resources of any of the competitors, how can you conclude that it is a competitive league? When Messi, Neymar and Mbappe played for the same team, you call it competitive?

Or let us look at it differently. If you call Ligue 1 competitive, which it clearly isn't it, then what do you call the Premier League or La Liga?

PSG is 13 points ahead and has a score difference that suggests on average they win against a -1.5 handicap. Considering the results of many of the last seasons, it is not competitive. That doesn't mean no other team will ever win, but overall Ligue 1 is boring.

Ligue 1 is competitive, and maybe very competitive if we look to the table starting from the second position. The difference between a team and the teams directly above or under it doesn't exceed 3 points so the ranking might shift with every round technically.
Now when it comes to PSG, it is sure that they are very different from the others, mainly financially. It is basically the only team from years that is able to compete and reach advanced stages in UEFA Champions League, without counting the first place in Ligue 1.

Then we are talking about different definitions of competitive. We could take an amateur league as an example and if the first three teams have the same number of points, you would call it highly competitive. PSG is above and beyond and yet you call it competitive. That's how you see Ligue 1, I look at their remarkable history of international titles, which is actually nonexistent for many years now. But you call it competitive, I don't.
