Paris Saint-Germain couldn't win Stade Rennes because Mendes was absent in the game yesterday and with my observation when the match was still going, i noticed the essence why Paris Saint-Germain was missing Mendes that yesterday game, so this is one of the reason why a gambling should always verify or analyze any teams if any of their keys is undergoing treatment of any kind, that will prevent him from not being future in the match, before concluding on how your prediction will look like, as we can see in the match, assuming Torres F. didn't score those goals, i don't know what could have be come the faith of Paris Saint-Germain but at least the game ended 2:2 draw.

PSG without Mendes there was too much opening in the defense not even Lucas Hernandez could cover that gap because Rennes attackers had their way to penetrate into the box of PSG without fear of nobody stopping them but PSG survived yet the game because of the level of force and attacks they mounted on their opponent I believe the coach of PSG will have to caution Mendes this time because if he is sent of again then PSG will have to deal with any outcome they will get because it seems down of the teams in the league is getting tired of their dominance and they want to punish them this season by tight them very hard.

Did actually made a mistake by letting Ousmane Dembele go, because when he left the club discovered Lamine Yamal who I wouldn’t need to describe his impact to Barcelona to you because it’s  visible, plus wasn’t Demeble always injured at Barcelona and that’s the major reason they got him sold. I don’t understand why when a team sells a player you fans comes up after few performances and question the club that sold him without looking at his abilities at the previous club. Ferran Torres has been in Barcelona for how many years and yet every year is just listed among potentials and not the finish player yet and this to me warrant a sale, so no matter what they do it was a good decision to offload him. The only place where it will be a mistake will be when Barcelona fails to sign the right striker.

As for PSG, this simply just fatigue that is affecting the players an nothing more and personally I think they would still win the league by the end of the season because the squad it self is wide ahead of any Ligue 1 players

this is just to confuse people, who would thought Paris Saint Germain would play draw with such team on their first match of the new season, this is exactly how they will keep playing then at last you will see them lift the trophy, so annoying, had it been these teams will take it up to themselves to hold them down, at least make the league look a bit more interesting and competitive rather than letting just one particular team dominate year in year out, it's really annoying, anyways let's see how this season will end, who knows they might rewrite the story this season.

After the two first-half goals, I thought PSG would be handed their first defeat this season. However, we saw the never-die belief of PSG in the second half. Fabian Ruiz was outstanding in the game, providing two assists for his countryman. Substitute Ferran Torres became the third player after Patrick Mboma and Zlatan Ibrahimović to score a brace on his debut. Losing a key player like Mendes might have affected the club since he has been a consistent first-team player. PSG really don’t have anyone else on that squad that can do half of what Mendes does, that guy is irreplaceable for them right now, with out him the team is out of balance and Hernandez injury is long term. That left flank is just expose, once Hakimi push forward on the right, they have zero recovery pace on the other side to deal with the counter attacks which Nuno Mendes account for, Rennes noticed and use it to their advantage. Anyone will have to think twice before placing a bet on PSG especially on away games, unless they find a way out of this left back mess.

Rennes probably deserved to take home the result and their 3 points, but the new arrival Ferran immediately demonstrated what he is made of by scoring the brace that brought the team to a draw and without losing important points from the start, the Parisians really risked a lot, they should thank the new signing.

I think PSG also played poorly at the start of last season. Perhaps it's due to the way Enrique plans his players' form at the start of the season. They struggle a lot, but gradually reach their peak form towards the end of the season. The Super Cup match against Lens showed they weren't quite there, and the match against Rennes confirmed it. But it's strange that they beat Aston Villa so easily, although perhaps Aston Villa's first match against Brighton shows they're also in very poor form, that's why PSG were able to beat them in the Super Cup. Not the best start to a new season, but I think PSG always play poorly at the start of a new season.

Marseille did spend. They were simply changing managers every 8 months. A team identity cannot be established if the coach is different every other season. It is like renovating a house but changing architects halfway through every time.

Monaco and Lyon have totally different situations. Lyon literally had financial regulators telling them they CANNOT spend. And Monaco is based on developing players and selling them the second they are good. That is how they stay alive. Basically they are an extremely successful academy with the occasional title winning team for around 6 months and only for a short while before the market starts dismantling them.

Where Lens actually lost the title was not against PSG. Those were the autumn games against clubs that were responsible for relegation. October. That is when the championship went downhill. Not due to PSG or the Champions League or anything dramatic.

Monaco has a similar philosophy to that of Borussia Dortmund, finding very good, quality players and instead of investing in them over time, they resell them as soon as they become strong enough to be requested by more teams so as to make money, they should focus a little more on their talents if they want to compete rather than selling them.

In the first season when they became champions, they were actually fighting to qualify from the group in the final matches. Last season, things were a little better, but that’s just how things have gone for them in the Champions League.

The French league has just started and the defending champions PSG shared the points in the first week's matches, so we think this team will be back in great shape in the next match. Overall the team's performance has been a bit of a letdown in a few matches as they surprised us by losing to a 10-man team in the French Super Cup final and this team was under immense pressure against Rennes in the first match of the 2026/27 Ligue 1 season.

By the way it seems that PSG still have an advantage in the French league as they have only played one match and have 33 more matches to play this season, which makes it clear that Paris Saint-Germain will play with great discretion this new season and it's correct this team will also try to win its 15th League 1 title.

You’re definitely right they usually don’t perform well in the early stages of the champions league, if you notice they usually finish outside the top 8 in the group stages and usually play through playoffs to qualify to the last 16. There is this trick that most people have noticed with PSG, they usually just rest their key players in the later stages of the champions league or have their games shifted which most teams do not have the advantage of doing. This keeps the players fresh for each reminder of the season, but that’s achieved after they might have been clear favourite to win the league.

Seems this last match made Luiz Enrique to be mad at Dembele because it’s all over the news that he wasn’t happy with the French attacker’s performance.

Nuno Mendes is actually a key player in PSG team, that happens since last two seasons, without him in that defense, there is always no balance in the defense and the team always performed bad defensively when he is absent, and the manager need to find solution to that because they have started noticing it little by little as their list in this opening match have a lot to say about their squad depth.

I think PSG has served their best time, they did well in football world by winning the Champions League back to back, they have become the best team across Europe; but I think they can’t keep it up again this season even in the champions league.

With or without Mendez, Rennes would have still found a way score against PSG, I don't know how many though but they would have scored. They had higher probability of scoring than not to score, if you check the previous records between both clubs, you will find out that Rennes will score. In my personal opinion, I think we will not be seeing more of Mendez in the league but in the champions League, Enrique bought Lucas Digne who's also a LB, I'm thinking he will be more active in the league and Mendez will more active in the UCL, these PSG team wants to win the champions League again judging from how the team is currently positioned.
