MILE MARKER

hit

UNO spent years, since 2013, conservatively returning to IPO status, let that be a lesson to the other projects.

Specifically anything launched prior 2015. Timestamp map. Is crucial.

The big idea was, and is, rarity plus the BTC network (an industrial strength) and a fair launch.
(also MATURITY low inflation tailing for 300 years)

Has it worked?
The results are the price, and the fact that UNO is a base market.
BASE MARKET.  Learn that.

I wish Benefactor was around to see this move up.  Here's a flashback post from UNO's earlier days.

Holy cannoli!  I'm floored - I was just browsing through my old files and found this rubicon gem of vintage Unobtanium history!:

See that moonshot?  I paid up to 0.006, knowing I'd eventually make a profit on it, and I did!  I must have been responsible for 3-4 pumps off bottoms, too, all of which has really helped UNO long-term.  We are now consistently steady, higher than those bottoms from our humble beginnings!  I think that low on CoinEx was sub-0.0002, and no, I didn't add an extra zero.

I know at least one more of you have been with UNO from the beginning.

At the time UNO started the very fair mining, I was stuck with over 30+ USB Erupters and dying to find an ROI for the $2,000 I put into 12+? Gh/s.  over that first month or two I sold all of the other cryptos I'd mined to load up on UNO, including BTC, ZET, TGC, etc.

I was so frustrated and annoyed when all the other cryptos got pumped big time, and BTC did, too, and UNO was still in the dungeon.  That's ok, because 'they', the grand cryptomarket, saved the best for last, and after maybe a week or two, UNO finally pumped up, especially after I did that giveaway of maybe 80 UNO to a group of investor-types.  We shot up to 0.02, and that was before wuloog was a twinkle in his dragon mother's eye.  His 'make-it-rain' for (apparently) FallingKnife and certainly me came weeks later after that 0.02 natural investor pump.

Pretty cuul, huh?

When wulong did his thing, I sold lots above 0.016, 0.018, 0.02, and when we started falling, I put up a 1,000 UNO block order at 0.016 sure it would arrest the fall.  THAT'S CALLED BUY SUPPORT!!!  I was sure it would hold for a long time~!  Unfortunately, someone sold me that whole block in a single order!!!

...So I have a right to be pissy when you cheapskates aren't offering sufficient buy support, especially at times I need to make rent.

Smiley  Just being playful.  No worries.

+1. I found out about UNO from him on another forum. He made a point of sharing the wealth by sending anyone an UNO who asked for one back in 2013. A really nice gesture to help introduce people to crypto and UNO.

A question to all uno owners out there that mainly "hold" and not buy & sell (pump and dump?)....

Do you perceive uno to be more of a commodity, that it, a storage of wealth, as opposed to a currency? I'm asking because I was initially attracted to it because of its rarity (low supply) and community (all of you) and now view it as a very secure and stable long term investment. I see other altcoins out there with quantities in the hundreds of millions up to billions (like ripple) and think of them more as "cash" that are more unstable.

Now this is all an illusion, right? We can slice up all crypto down to the 8th decimal place (satoshi). For comparison and without loss of generality, let's look at the the supplies of uno and ripple on the satoshi level. They look like 3,862,169,393,300,000,000 vs. 19,773,000,000,000. These supply numbers don't seem THAT much different. The first is 3.8 quintillion and the second is 19.8 trillion. Once you go "rillion" is just huge. Now let's go back to the actual supply levels. The difference between 38,621,693,933 vs. 197,730 seems astronomically significant! Now look at "tons" (is this metric?) of uno vs. ripple: 197.7 vs. 38,621,693,933. Oh boy!!

How do you feel these comparisons are for the perception of uno? I see amazing potential for it and significant growth ahead as a storage of wealth.

On another note, I have been finding myself educating many people I work with and interact with every day about cryptocurrencies and their potential. But the majority still does not understand crypto and/or is afraid of something they can't hold or touch. I think we sometimes forget this since many of us check this forum, uno prices, or their favorite X-change daily. When adoption of altcoins becomes more mainstream, the growth will skyrocket like nothing we've ever seen before. The 2-3 year changes will seem like "blimps" on a screen. I foresee $100 billion market going to $1 trillion soon and then to the tens of trillions over time. When this happens, we will have our own 'personal' storage of wealth nicely tucked away.

Of course that is how i view it. If i need the 'cash' i sell the uno for something more widely accepted, bitcoin, and then bitcoin into fiat if the cash money is needed.

I think Uno is oft overlooked because people can't get enough footing for it to be worth their while. That is in terms of pumps and manipulation. The biggest hurdle to overcome with Uno is distribution but that should work itself out. Looking at it in terms of tons makes sense that if each Uno is a ton, that is a lot! Fractional Uno is going to wind up being the most practical way of dealing with it, down to ounces perhaps? What would the notation of an ounce of Uno be in decimals?

We can't grow when we won't criticize ourselves!

KG>POUND>OUNCE so Id say probably 0.01 would be considered 1 ounce?

Isn't that like mixing apples and oranges ? Metric and Imperial ?

If KG being metric, shouldn't we go : kilogram : decigram : centigram : milligram : microgram : nanogram : picogram : femtogram : attogram

I think whoever made the units of uno metric and representative of kilograms was very creative and innovative. I believe it's another reason uno is viewed as a commodity and storage of long-term wealth.

Isn't 1 uno actually equal to 1 kg of uno? So 0.001 would be a gram and so on.

Since I use the electrum uno wallet, my uno are shown in units of "grams," not kilograms. Since 5 decimal places are represented, the quantity of 0.00001 uno is actually 10 micrograms of uno or 10,000 nanograms. So 6.08523495 uno is really six thousand eighty-five grams and two hundred thirty-four thousand nine hundred fifty micrograms of uno.

If this wallet shows 1000000.00000 uno, you are the proud owner of one million grams, one thousand kilograms, or 1 metric ton (tonne) of uno!

That's right about the units zyzzyvas.

Regarding what you were saying about the divisibility, whether you look at whole units or down to the 'satoshi-level' (10th place after the decimal), the total units of two given cryptos will still share the same ratio. So no matter how far you subdivide it, the max number of bitcoin is always 84x greater than the max number of UNO.

Although it's repeated often enough in different ways that it may seem like a gimmick to any outsiders, UNO has legitimate rarity. The inflation rate is roughly 0.1%/year & falling (0.173% tangential inflation with a halving in <3 months). Of >800 cryptos ever listed on coinmarketcap, UNO has something like the 35th lowest number of produced units, but of those 35 it is one of the few that wasn't premined, and is one of the most valuable.

Perhaps most influential is the fact that a few people have accumulated large shares of total supply. Distribution is a powerful component of value for currencies, and that is promoted through UNO's place as a base pair on Cryptopia. However, (this gets back to your question about whether UNO is more of a currency or a commodity) having a few large investors is a powerful position for a crypto with the fundamentals of UNO (commodity-oriented). Several people with great patience &/or through great effort have accumulated 2-20% of total supply each. A few large holders have kept their funds locked away for years; these people likely earned their UNO fairly cheap during the early period with higher mining rewards, but it was done fairly & they have held strong (maybe they even lost their private keys, who knows). Others have accumulated through extensive buying; Exhibit A: the individual who seems to have been controlling much of the action over the last 3 months. Based on wallet movements, the (now disabled) Bittrex distribution tab, and market action, that individual has probably accumulated more than 20% of total supply.

Of course, all coins have their whales, but UNO is a crypto that is designed (and marketed) like a rare commodity, & as a result is being hoarded by wealthy individuals. Thankfully that's good for the smaller fish too, and today, owning just 1% of UNO makes you wealthier than 87% of people on Earth (according to globalrichlist.com). Perhaps before 2030 owning just 0.1% of UNO will put you in the 87th percentile of wealth globally.

I get your point about uno having a theoretical value of 84x bitcoin. However, I feel that altcoins have a very hard time surpassing 1x bitcoin (besides things like 42 or 23skidoo). I'm guessing that at some point the general (crypto) population will get over this, but it might take a bit of time.

I get your point about uno having a theoretical value of 84x bitcoin.

I was just using that as an example for discussing why it doesn't actually matter [for rarity] how far you can subdivide units, I wasn't saying anything about value.

I have been bullish on UNO for years, & I continue to remain bullish long-term, but I highly doubt it will ever have even 5% the market cap of bitcoin, too much of a disparity in name recognition, venture capital, etc. Maybe we'll eventually see 1 UNO = 1 BTC, that would give UNO a market cap of >1% of BTC's.

wwzsocki, there is not so much news about Unobtanium, it's stable, no suprises, steady growth prowided by proof of work mergemined with Bitcoin & the most important... level of inflation, in approximately less than 50 days there will be less than 0.5 new Uno every day. I wonder if we touch that day 60$.
FallingKnife, I thought that Uno All Time High was 13 february 2014 of 0.08374 btc a coin (arount 54$ at the time). This info was from V500 Unobtanium Chronicles.
