The only reason this action was possible at all is that VRC is such a young coin and distribution/real-world use is still small. As with many new coins the vast majority of VRC is held in exchange wallets. The "rollback" is a first time thing for crypto, but any other decision would have a) killed VRC and B) killed Mintpal.

Don't forget VRC is PoS, so a thief running off with ~33% of coin supply is not just a huge theft, but also a major security threat to the network. The thief could easily crash the coin selling just a tiny part of his stolen coins and then buy up the remaining % needed for complete control over the network dirt cheap.

Actually makes perfect sense now that BC has been pushing so hard for their decentralized exchange/smart contract tech. PoS coins need decentralized solutions even more than PoW coins, or risk getting completely screwed in case of an exchange hack. Seems like the BC team is more forward looking than most others...

Can anyone geeky and clever with computers tell me why my wallet is not working on OSX. Is it to do with the settings on my mac? This currency will go down to junk if the wallets are unreliable and no one will help fix them when they don't work.

I'll work on it after my round of golf tomorrow.

Not as I know of, currently I am using a wallet on windows using bootcamp, I don't know why OSX wallet stopped working and even after downloading the latest updates and latest OSX it still does not work, very strange.

take a look in the folder: [yourusername]\library\applicationsupport\unobtanium  and make sure there are no files in there other than:
db.log
debug.log
peers.dat
wallet.dat

if there's anything else there, remove it and then try opening unobtanium-qt

how about you people take that 25% of all Uno out of cryptsy and into your local wallets? Do you really want to put the fate of the coin into the hands of one single entity? Do you want to risk to loose it all? What does it take for you to learn your lesson? Your coins are not safe at the exchange. How many hacks and losses does it need for you to learn your lesson? Can you please learn from vericoin, mintpal, gox, coinex, coinmarket, cryptorush ... ? Do you not have 300MB on your HD for a blockchain to secure your money? Where lies the problem with that? You don't own the coins at the exchange. You only really own the coins in your local wallet. Get that!  You can wake up tomorrow and all your money is gone. Move those coins off the exchange! Go download the wallet from the op, ask for help if you can't get it to run, make a backup of your wallet to an usb-drive and all is fine. There is no problem with that. Ask for help if you need it but move the coins off exchange!

Main reason I haven't been posting around here very much.  I've still got my UNO.  Still trade it on occasion.  But I've been taken in by Black and have been grabbing as much as I can get my hands on.  These guys are incredibly forward looking and work so hard.  Anyway, not the place for me to gush, but I wanted to agree with you that Blackhalo is huge.

i think people don't see the relation. This is not a coin where there are Millions of it around. 100Un is a decent chunk already. There are only 188.000 in circulation. Please withdraw the coins you are not trading at the moment. You can send them back any time. The client syncs up very fast. It is no hassle to keep the chain up to date. 7 days of chain are downloaded in less than 15 minutes. Just open your wallet once or twice a month and you are synced up in no time when you need it. Uno syncs very fast. No need to keep all the coins at exchange.

Oh wait! Sorry for writing so big. I see my own wallet listed as cryptsy-wallet, so the tool is not working. So there are probably less than 25% at cryptsy. Good to know the tool is off. Probably quite a bit actually. The tool lists what was bought at cryptsy. So 25% went through. Puh! And i thought it was accurate. Hope the community doesn't store more than a few percent there.
Ok, sorry for being alarmist. But still hear the warning and don't leave more than what you trade at the exchange. Thank you.

Just a reminder about the opportunity that we have in front of us right this minute....

With UNO's return to 3 minute blocks, this is the production schedule. We're about half way through the .065 reward for blocks 400.000 - 500.000 (458,445 as I write this). The current .065 block reward will end in just 3 months. Then the reward drops to .03125 for the next 100k blocks (about 7 months).  



I did the date-math on the UNO production schedule. During the 5 1/2 year period October 2014, through March 2020, there will only be 6,238 more UNO produced!

That's much, much less UNO over the next 5.5 years than we saw this year. And if you consider that CoinEx sold us back 7000 of our own UNO this year on top of what was mined, then you know that. 2014 was a huge year for the community to absorb new UNO coming onto the market.

We are now in the end game for UNO creation. The last 50k or so UNO will take nearly 3 centuries to be mined. You will never see 250k Uno coins in your lifetime. Or your children's lifetime.

If you have any UNO, even 1 like our friend said he had, hold it tight.

Being rare alone doesn't make UNO special. But this will be among the first credible, known, enduring, community supported fair start coins to essentially mine out. Maybe it will crash and burn, or maybe... just maybe something else will happen. As the wallet says, it is experimental software, and anything can happen. My bet is that crypto will survive and become accepted as a mainstream means of wealth transfer and debt settlement; as a credible and interesting, and early part of the crypto landscape, I believe UNO will be sought after if, for nothing else, a rare collectible.  Rome hasn't produced gold coins for dozens of centuries; you can't spend one at the mall, but discerning people still want to own Roman gold coins even more for their place history as for their their gold.   BW called Un the $100 bill of altcoins, and I agree with that characterisation.

This is not the moment to become discouraged about Unobtanium's price. This is a huge gift we've been given.

i would disagree here. Because Un has a special background of not being flashmined, instamined or premined. In addition to that it has very, very low inflation. If you take all factors into consideration including its scarcity, oh boy. The scarcity is one of Unos killer-features making it one of the very few coins out there that really deserve to be looked at as wealth-storage. Uno is right now amongs the most undervalued coins in crypto. (strong buy for smart investors).
Un is not only low coin-count but also low inflation - being scarce in every possible way and healthy at the same time makes it special. I don't know any comparable coin tbh. Other coins are currencies. This is commodity.

Reddcoin will let me free up some btc coming hours/days. I'll buy more Un for it.  
It'll jump big time soon enough. People who didn't buy during last months and don't buy now will kick themselves later.

Quick update  from your active UNO development team. I'm not a dev, but it's my pleasure to sometimes hear about what they're doing and then be able to share that with you. 

Because I'm a loudmouth around here, I sometimes get contacted by people with technical questions that I sure as hell can't answer. So I usually start by bothering Blazr2, who has has been just great in responding and helping those folks. He's also coded some fixes and enhancements for Linux, and has pushed the updates back to Bryce.

Bryce is working now on updating the repo with a post-KGW checkpoint which Unobtanium's exchanges can use and be 101% assured of a proper chain. A forthcoming client update may also lockout those old non-kgw wallets.

Some Mac updates have been pushed back to Bryce.  He said he's going to have new Apple Developer signed UNO wallets made for Mac so they will always be guaranteed current and virus free.

Some other great stuff in the works for UNO!

One of the perks of being a currency that is supported by Blocktech Group is that they have a size & scale that will benefit Unobtanium.  Bryce mentioned to me that UNO will eventually be getting SMS wallets and ATMs!  He is already working on those for Razor and will then bring the technology to UNO.  Blocktech also has manufacturing capability, so it's possible to make something like the hardware cold storage wallets on bitkee.com for Unobtanium.  

As a coin that is made to last and be a store of wealth, a laser engraved hardware wallet the size of a credit card would be really cool, no?  There's already been a lot of interest and talk here recently about metal cold storage of UNO, so I know this idea will resonate with you all.  Although anyone with the skills and credibility can do this and bring their project to the community, it's also nice to know that Blocktech has this capability and plans to make it available to UNO.  

Bryce said that Blocktech is using Razor to test everything as their market cap is large enough for some research and development costs (Actually, I took that comment as a challenge: beat Razor's market cap!! ).  Those finished and developed features can then be brought to UNO and the other coins that Blocktech stewards.  UNO is going to need this functionality to compete and stay relevant in the new market.

It's wonderful to have Blazr and Bryce both hard at work at protecting your investment in Uno. They're both excited about UNO, and I can tell they enjoy  this community.
