Manchester City 2-1 Aston Villa

A very late goal from Manchester City gave them three points when the game was going to end in a 1-1 draw. The win puts Manchester City in third place but the the teams between third and seventh are all capable of qualifying for the Champions League and will try their best while it is mathematically possible.

I just wanted to let you know that I will be supporting Athletic Bilbao. You already know why

I'm not sure how they got there, but they've earned my respect this season--they used to be my "Goto" in the Norway Div2 if I needed a 0ver2.5 market option before they were promoted.  I've known Bodo and have always admired their goal-scoring ability.  I had no idea they would make it this far.  Tottenham are in horrible shape, and Bodo could take advantage of that to secure the final slot on their side of the bracket.  I do not want to see an English team in the final.

That's true a win for both United and Tottenham knows what is at stake as their only chance of winning a trophy and even qualifying for Europe is through the Europa League so this game is a do or die affair for Tottenham that is why i said that Tottenham was going to win because they are under intense pressure to qualify to the finals of this competition and Bodo Blink is coming into this game as under dog's with all due respect to them Tottenham are the big boys in this game so I see Tottenham making it to the finals

One thing I am sure about, if a team makes it to the semi-final of a major tournament they have more than likely earned their place therefore Bodo/Glimt should not be any different. They deserve respect for being the least favourite team to get there yet there they are. As for Tottenham, you are right they are in a bad shape and it would an ideal time for Bodo/Glimt to basically take advantage. I think Postecoglou will be sacked at the end of the season even if they win the Europa League.

Tottenham have played really bad but Manchester United have too. They are pinning their hopes on winning the Europa League to help save their season from total disaster but of the four teams in the competition only one will be crowned champions. I cannot see Tottenham winning it.

I concur with you and I am excited about their upcoming games in the Champions League. I am bringing this up as winning it would give Arteta a lot of financial scope for next season to give his squad the final touches. Prize money would go up, sponsoring would go up, merchandise would go up. It often seems as if becoming 2nd all those times in the PL is worth nothing, but it still is if they ultimately reach their goals because they are permanently driven to raise the bar.

I think this process could lead to Arsenal becoming a long time powerful contender across the PL, CL and other domestic cups. The process they had to go through was painful so far, but maybe it was needed to finally make them take the right actions. If they had won the title in 22/23, who knows whether they would have been eagerly building their squad step by step like that. Now everyone is electrified to reap the fruits of their labour and experiences.

I hope they will get one amazing striker who isn't known to be prone to injuries. They need someone like Lautaro Martinez. I don't think Havertz will do the job.

Havertz is overrated and definitely not up to playing for a massive club such as Arsenal. Far too many players have been very good in the Bundesliga but have not found success in the Premier League. I have no idea why Arteta wanted to sign him even though he was an expensive spectacular failure at Chelsea. For the sake of the Premier League remaining competitive, I hope they make a couple of signings and then mount a real challenge next season because it benefits fans when a team cannot run away with the title.

It was not that long ago when Arteta had problems with Aubameyang and results were not going their way just after they won the FA Cup. I was calling for him to be sacked but since last season they have been excellent. Arteta can build something special at Arsenal, it seems certain he will not be sacked if he consistently finishes in the top four therefore he has a chance to build a legacy at the club.

If Chelsea gets into the top 4 and gives him a call with a decent offer then it's obv gonna be an easy decision for him.  But maybe if Newcastle offers him a new contract then I guess he'll be happy giving it another couple of years with Eddie Howe who's one of the best man managers in the EPL rn.

But Newcastle gotta get that top 4 spot locked in.  It's getting more interesting now esp if Chelsea wins vs Fulham.    Let's see which club has the grit to take it.

His current deal goes until 2027, and there's a good chance he'll receive an extension offer next season to raise his release clause.  He has already won a trophy this season, and he might easily use it as a reason to pursue a new challenge if a huge offer comes his way. However, I agree with you that if Newcastle qualify for the Champions League next season, he would most likely stay and not make a move in the summer.

Wasn't impressed with our game against Fulham but we took an important point to keep our CL hope alive.

And if he's a pragmatic guy, he knows he ain't no Haaland or Salah.  So he better entertain the next round of bigger offers coming his way before age makes his skills deteriorate.  And listening to other offers could make Newcastle make a counter offer too to keep him.    Isn't Newcastle owned by oiler money now?  The prolly have something hiding in the war chest.  Lol.

This is what I meant, Arteta can call himself a lucky man because of the conditions he is offered at Arsenal. Wenger was allowed to stay for decades without a trophy? I think so. For any coach, Arsenal is like a land of milk and honey because they don't get sacked if they don't fail miserably, money is there, great stadium and fans are there, all you need to build a legacy over a longer period of time.

This win against Real Madrid bolstered Arsenal's public picture and their ability to persuade the most outstanding strikers in world football to sign a contract with them has probably increased. If I was a rising star or an established top striker, I'd see many good reasons to go to Arsenal next season. Salary won't be a problem, competition with Liverpool and Manchester City won't be a problem and I could realistically win the Champions league. Frankly, those two games against Real Madrid made me become a little Arsenal fan, as I haven't paid special attention to them for a long time.

There is the pride factor in finishing second rather than third, fourth or even fifth (as it qualifies for the Champions League this season). For any team coming second to the champions is nothing to be disappointed about but to remain in second place for many months and then lose out to a rival, I think they prefer that did not happen.

I understand the Champions League is a priority for Arsenal and their fans would accept fielding a weak team for their next few fixtures until the semi-finals have bee played as they want their first choice players fully for against PSG. Oof Zaha...  Lmao.  I remember him getting the call from genius Moyes when he took over at Man United after Ferguson retired.  But the word on the street is, Zaha went out with Moyes daughter and had a one night stand or something so Moyes had to send Zaha back Crystal Palace. 

And yeah, the agent should make some sht up that his client 'could leave' if he doesn't get a bump in his contract.    But no shenanigans until the end of the season tho.  They can't afford to be distracted.

Everton travel to Chelsea for the midday kick-off game. If Chelsea win, they will move up to 4th and will be just one point behind Manchester City. Everton are stubborn and difficult to beat since Moyes returned therefore it will be an interesting game. If Newcastle United beat Ipswich Town (as expected), they will end the day in 3rd place.

Jackson returned to the Chelsea team and scored the only goal of the game. Newcastle United also won therefore we still have to wait before the Champions League spots are finalised. Ipswich Town have been relegated after their loss.
