Bournemouth vs Aston Villa

Manchester City and Aston Villa both want to win their respective games as they push for Champions League confirmation. Aston Villa will find it a difficult game against Bournemouth.

Newcastle United and Chelsea are in need of points for their Champions League ambitions, a win for either team helps Manchester City but a draw will make it possible (however unlikely) that Manchester City could miss out and end up playing in the Europa League next season.

Liverpool are champions, they will be playing Arsenal at Anfield. Arsenal need points to ensure they finish as runners up because mathematically there is a chance they could finish outside the Champions League places.

As Manchester City failed to beat Southampton it has given their rivals an opportunity to try to end the season in a Champions League qualification spot. Aston Villa took advantage to win their game.

I agree. 3 weeks is enough time period for Manchester City to capture the 2nd place as well. Arsenal have no target to achieve in the league from now on as I said. They still have tough matches to play against Liverpool and Newcastle both too.

They crumbled the chance to go 2nd - Arsenal drop points again to give them another chance. Let's see.

Beating the Premier League champions in any match is huge, to do it in style with a 3-1 victory is impressive. If Chelsea carry this form on to next season they will have a successful season.

We couldn't even carry the form to Newcastle United game. We crumbled again at another chance to go 3rd. Nottingham forest are out - told you.

It was a very heavy loss for Chelsea, much more than the 2-0 score line suggests. It cannot negate the good work by Newcastle United that takes them to just two points behind Arsenal. With two games remaining, even Arsenal are not guaranteed finishing in the top five.

Nottingham Forest missed another opportunity to make a case for Champions League football with a draw at home to Leicester City.

Both Europa League finalists lost their homes games 2-0. It seems as though Tottenham and Manchester United want to rest their best players for the final and do not want to risk injuries as they are desperate to win the Europa League.

^  Nice to see Eddie Howe make progress and take Newcastle to the Champions League.  I'm thinking that after a couple more summer transfer windows we'd see them challenge for the EPL trophy.  Especially now that Klopp is gone and with Guardiola prolly leaving in a year or so too.

I didn't understand 2 things last week. The way Manchester City and Forest both lost 2 points... Southampton and Leicester were already relegated so it was interesting to see them stealing points just like that. 

Arteta should make some moves this summer. Especially for the centre-forward position as they don't have any credible striker. Gabriel Jesus is always injured. They need a complete squad to go for the Premier League championship.

It would be a strange outcome if Manchester City lost their last two games but Aston Villa and Chelsea won just one each, they would quallify for the Champions League whereas Manchester City would not. As Nottingham Forest, if they won one game and drew the other but Manchester City lost both then Nottingham Forest would finish higher than them.

There is still a lot to play for because six teams are trying to end the season in one of the four remaining Champions League spots.

Nottingham Forest should focus on playing in the Conference League next season, which is what they deserve.

Klopp left and someone who can be considered as more dangerous than Klopp replaced him, so even if Pep Guardiola leaves Manchester city tomorrow it is not assured that an English manager will win the League. If pep eventually leaves Manchester city, I'm sure city will still end up getting a world class coach. But it's really important to give credit to Eddie and his work so far. Before Newcastle can dream of winning the title, they should try as much as possible to be consistent in finishing in top 4 and establish themselves as a force in the English premier league. Howe is good but I don't see him winning the premier league with Newcastle United.

Why are you trying to mathematically remove Manchester City in favour of the other clubs?  You don't want good English representation in the next CL?  I like Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Tottenham; I don't think Newcastle or Nottingham Forest have what it takes to compete in the Champions League.  They would perform well with the guys they currently have in Europa league/Conference league.  I don't see City losing the next two games.

We need to accept that we.have decline as a club and slowly build up our confidence back by winning the Europa cup after securing the confidence league and maybe after we have gotten our squad right with the best strikers and attackers then we can start thinking about the champions league. If it was the old CL format, I would have agreed with you, but with the current squad, we are good enough to make it through the group phase of the new format, as many underdogs did last year.  We are not going there to win; rather, we want the players to experience what it is like to play in top European football so that they can battle for to keep their place.  Many of our players need that experience, and it also makes it easier to attract world-class players to the project.

It would be Dumb not to sign a world class striker this summer - it's obvious Jackson is the man.

Moyes has been brilliant since returning to Everton. The appropriate manner to wave goodbye to Goodison Park has to be with Moyes as their manager. Everton move to a new stadium and it will be great for the club as a whole if Moyes was their manager next season (or at least for their first home game in their new stadium).

The upcoming games are crucial for everyone; hope we can take advantage of Manchester United's injuries. Can't wait another season without CL football.

It will be heartbreaking for Aston Villa if they miss out on Champions League football because Chelsea (or any other team have a better goal difference).

It seems to be a bit of both. Without a doubt the Premier League is the most competitive in the world and with that the teams are getting better. Fulham, Bournemouth, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Newcastle United have become more competitive than the bigger clubs thought was possible.

Hopefully things will become clear for some of the teams after the games this evening and tomorrow.

It seems to be a bit of both. Without a doubt the Premier League is the most competitive in the world and with that the teams are getting better. Fulham, Bournemouth, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Newcastle United have become more competitive than the bigger clubs thought was possible.

Hopefully things will become clear for some of the teams after the games this evening and tomorrow.

Think if Tottenham and Manutd were in good form, we wouldn't have paid much attention to Nottingham, Brighton and the rest - I think it has more to do with inconsistency with Manutd, Tottenham and Chelsea. They gave room for those smaller clubs to shine.

Nothing changes - Aston Villa and Chelsea won their games respectively with a CS to put more pressure on City and the rest..
